Dying for a Chia Tea Latte
Joann454 replied to sc09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After reading this thread I have decided to have coffee and it is DIVINE! It feels so normal and comforting. I love sitting on my front porch with a cup watching the deer and birds. Ahhhhh! -
I'm slow as well. Just keep doing what they say. It'll happen for us.

I've read over and over to stay off the scale for the first month. I'm three weeks out too and am stuck as well. I'm just gonna keep doing what they say and trust everyone is right. Also, I'm hungry too. I'm limiting carbs and eating every couple of hours. I do fill up quickly when I eat.
-
I'm stuck too! I can eat a whole egg with no issues. Nothing makes sick so far! I'm kind of scared. Since surgery I've lost 8 lbs. All together 23. Come on scale!

Surgery Postponed :(
Joann454 replied to victoriak419's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ugh. So sorry. I have hashimoto disease and my TSH numbers can be all over the place. Hoping they can get your levels right so you can proceed. -
Surgery in Mexico, timeline? Wait till fall, or go for it now?
Joann454 replied to BDutchess's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I'd do it before. You'll be healed and feeling good about yourself and be able to enjoy yourself. I've booked two trips one for 7 weeks out and one for 6 months out. I'm three weeks out and could travel easily (except I get tired fast still). Also, I had trouble filling out the questionnaire on my phone, it worked great on my laptop. -
I had surgery three weeks ago and have been hungry since day 1. I get full fast but have no trouble getting everything in. It worries me a little but I'm not eating anything dense yet. Im sure I'll feel restriction then. It's pretty impossible to know which camp you'll fall into post op. You just have to wait and see.

Congrats that the surgery is behind you both! Now the fun begins.

Mainers- advice please!!
Joann454 replied to B.Annie's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I lived in Readfield ME for a couple of years. It's very close to Belgrade. The towns you're listing are so very different. Clinton is in the "willywacks" as Mainers call it. In general Maine folks mind their own business and aren't known for being overly friendly but will lend a hand if needed. I enjoyed Maine but what I did not enjoy were the mosquitoes! They were brutal! Vassalboro, Sidney, Belgrade, Readfield are all convenient to Augusta which is great for shopping and since it's the capital, any business you need to tend to is close by. It's a tough economy and an expensive place to live (even though housing is inexpensive). Good luck! -
Fantastic! Thanks so much, coach!

Welp! 1 week post-op tomorrow and it looks like I just had my emotional breakdown...

I can't wait for that energy! -

Joann454 replied to Luv2luv2luvya's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No wonder you're emotional. That's so little. What's preventing you from drinking more? Pain? I could get in around 40 ounces of liquids the first week but my NUT was ok with that. Keep trying. It gets better! -
No More Food Restrictions!

How much of each are you getting in? I feel so much better since upping my calories some. Hopefully they'll have some suggestions for you. Are you from New England by any chance? I rarely see anyone saying welp that isn't. -

I love that it figures out the net carbs! Mine doesn't. -
2 wks post op.....feel great, lost wt, but
Joann454 replied to lizpuller's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was alarmed by it too. This is an interesting journey! -
Those are no joke. Please try to stay off the scale. You are doing what you're supposed to do and it'll happen. I get it because I'm barely moving the scale but I'm just trusting it'll happen. Everyone says it and they've been through it. Hope you're feeling better.

Joann454 replied to lizpuller's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am the same way! How many calories are you getting? I didn't get nauseous but rubbery legs and complete fatigue. I'm trying to get my calories up to 800 before I do much. I just don't have the energy. -
Tips/Resources for Tracking Food
Joann454 replied to AK_Bookworm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The new apps are really good at listing restaurant foods. You can also go to the restaurant's web sit and get nutritional info. The only problem will be estimating how much of it you ate. -
So bummed for you. *hugs*

1 week, no weight loss!
Joann454 replied to AmandaWho's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Love this. I realized I wasn't getting in enough water. It gets warm, I switch out the bottles. I ended up with so many partial bottles of water. Switched to my big cold tumbler so I could keep a more accurate count. Lost two lbs after not moving for a few days! -
How much can you eat?
Joann454 replied to heylizzyclay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Outside and Bliz...you have no idea how many screenshots of posts you have made in the past I have saved for future reference. I can't thank you enough! -
My concern with Mexico was what if there was a complication. Would your insurance cover it? The craziness in the world wouldn't be a valid reason for me because Tijuana isn't a hotbed of terrorist activity. If your insurance will cover any complications after the surgery I wouldn't see an issue. You will still need some tests done I'm sure.

I felt very well informed about what life would be like after surgery. Hearing it and living it is quite different though. I feel so bad for the folks regretting their decision to have this surgery. Have you sought out a therapist. You should t have to live the rest of your life miserable.

Thirsty for water ALL the time!
Joann454 replied to darleneb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Excessive thirst is a symptom of diabetes (just putting that out there) but it could also be from anesthesia as well. In any event, if it's not hurting you physically to drink that's great! Drink away! I too had no problem drinking liquids and at only three weeks out I can drink three good gulps with no pain.
