  1. I can't imagine doing the hard work you do on so little food! My energy is slowly returning but even after I do something I'm pretty wiped out. That's really my only complaint, lack of energy. Glad you're feeling mostly good though!

    I got my surgery!

Ugh. I can't believe I'm just seeing this now! I've been wondering about you. Glad it went well and I'm sure your mom is very relieved
  3. Hysterical! I know where the CT name is going. I got a Maine license plate as soon as I moved there. I didn't want them seeing my MA plate. And YES on the directions! My realtor was notorious for that. "No, I actually don't know where Bob that sold mowers USED to live". She also used miles for distance instead of time (or "as the crow flies"). Not helpful! Maine is an absolutely gorgeous state with lovely genuine people. I enjoyed living there very much.

    So happy

Congrats! I know how scared you were. So glad for you! Now to heal up.
  8. We used to joke that everything was two hours away! Also, Mainiacs call their front yard a "door yard" and every street name gets the word "the" before it. Plains Rd would be called "the plains rd". I got a kick out of it. They're also not very fond of people from MA. They call us Massholes. [emoji23]
  9. I was sleeved 5/22 and have lost 12 lbs so I feel you. But I measured myself and have lost 13"! We just have to stay on plan and stay patient.
  10. I didn't have much pain but I definitely thought I felt hungry. I was hungrier one to two weeks after surgery than I am now at five weeks after. Idk what that was all about. I hope you both feel better.

    Relationship changes

My relationship was fantastic before surgery and is still fantastic. Wife went to all appointments with me and started a diet when I started my preop diet. She's lost as much weight as I have and if anything we're even happier. Maybe it depends on what your relationship was like before surgery but it's had no negative impact on our relationship.

Debating if this is right for me

I'm only five weeks out and do have fear of regain down the road. I'm working hard at breaking old habits and changing how I approach food. I can totally understand your fears about regain. I think a lot of us have them and unless we make that commitment to change we will fall back into our old habits. Honestly, I didn't do enough work before surgery. I was so focused on the actual surgery that I didn't focus on the "after". I'm doing that work now. I suggest working on your mindset before surgery as I think I would've made this transition easier for me. As far as water goes. Like I said, I'm five weeks out and can easily drink water in three big gulps with no pain. I worried about that too but it was needless. Hopefully that'll be the case for you too.

    Tuesday's the day

Oops, I thought this was the other thread. I see you've made your decision. I woke up happy, a bit nauseated (I got meds and it went away). I don't remember much from that part. Went to my room and was sore. I used my pain button and it helped me sleep. Slept in spurts and then had to pee. I had no catheter. In the morning I walked with PT a few times. I actually felt great. Was home by that afternoon. The first night at home was rough. More pain, threw up but still no regrets. I've had one day since surgery where I plain felt sorry for myself. Never regretted it though. Never got that gas that many get. I was lucky!

Do you have unflavored protein powder? You could mix it into water or tea. I didn't get much protein till day five. Is she taking her pain meds?

Have you decided if you're going to through with surgery?

Hi Walter. How's everyone doing? Is her pain decreasing any?

    The Shame of WLS

Back when my sister had her RNY 17 years ago, I remember thinking she will never have to diet again and that I should gain 60lbs so I could qualify. Then I watched her struggle post surgery (it was an open surgery back then) and then slowly gain weight back and having to go back to weight watchers. I quickly learned this was only a tool and would only work if you helped it work. Before then I do believe I thought it was the easy way out. As this surgery becomes more common I think people will end up knowing someone who had it and come to realize that while it helps, it's not the easy way out. I've only told a few people I've had it. It's not because I'm ashamed, it's because I don't want the added pressure of people looking at me to see if I've lost weight or in some cases flat out asking me. I'm a sloooow loser and am trying to deal with that on my own. I don't want or need judging eyes on me.

    Early Plateau: Is something wrong?

Ugh. Me too. I'm five weeks out and have lost 12 lbs since surgery. I'm at a total stand still. It's maddening.

    Scary and good to know.

How's she doing today? Did you manage to get some sleep?
  21. So I got the green light to incorporate new foods into my diet. I ate three chicken wings and they were so good. Tossed in spicy garlic and parm. Delish. My concern is I seem to tolerate anything I eat. I can't eat a lot but have this cast iron stomach. Is this unusual? How it's supposed to be? I also don't have to chew chew chew. I can take nearly normal bites with no issues and I can gulp water easily. It seems weird to me when I'm reading on here and everyone appears to have tender stomachs.
  22. We know blizair adheres to a pretty tight eating schedule. How does everyone else do it? Do you have set meal and snack times? Do you just eat when hungry? I feel willynilly and I hate it. We've been doing home improvements and I'm retired so I have no schedule. I go hours without eating when I get busy. It was easier the first three weeks when I wasn't doing much. So what's everyone's eating plan like?

That must've hurt when your daughter jumped on her. Poor thing. Keep us posted and try to get some rest.

    I think I messed up!

So you have a NUT? I would log what you eat so you know exactly what you're ingesting for calories and macros and discuss with your NUT.

Oh no. This makes me so sad to read. I hope it passes quickly. Been thinking of you guys and knew hers was getting close. I know you're scared but the pain is a small price to pay for a healthy and hopefully longer rest of your life. She'll heal and the pain will be gone and things will get exponentially better.
