Weight loss doing great, but darn, I'm always hungry!!!
Joann454 replied to gwbicster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to agree that it's head hunger or too many carbs or acid. Little changes can make a big difference. For instance, switch the nuggets for a grilled chicken sandwich and take it off the bun. You won't finish it but you're missing the breading that's on the nuggets. Stay away from the mashed potatoes and go for mashed cauliflower or Greek yogurt. The thing is, if we don't change our relationship with food, down the road you'll be able to eat all the nuggets plus fries. So practice making good choices now. Even though it's just a little bit of food it won't be eventually. It won't always be so draconian and you want to take advantage of this short window where it's easier to drop the lbs Ok, but that's not really what you asked specifically. Yes, I've gone through this. I'm only seven weeks out but it's already much easier. It's become more normal to eat tiny amounts and not miss big meals. I've made myself physically ill once. I don't doubt that I'll do it again down the road. My advice is to find a therapist who specifically deals with Bariatric patients. Congrats on your phenomenal weight loss though. That's amazing! -
What a sweet name for an insidious issue. I hope you feel much better after this is fixed. Wishing you all the luck!

Gallbladder Removed
Joann454 replied to tanyamann32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gallbladder pain is so rough. Obviously eat nothing with fat is my only advice. I did drink real lemonade (artificially sweetened) it seemed to help. Why are they waiting so long if it only takes 72 hrs for the Coumadin to be out of your system? I'm confused. I wish they would just take the gallbladder when they do the surgery. I hope you get some relief. -

Love that hair! You look amazing! -
I usually get around 60+. I've had a few days in the 50's. I try to drink a shake if I'm too low. I'm only 7 weeks out.

Insight into "frustrating" success of pre op diet
Joann454 replied to GotProlactinoma's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh I had those thoughts too. I lost 15 lbs on my preop diet. I had myself almost talked out of surgery. While I've been learning how to NOT comfort myself with food, the fact that I physically CAN'T has been what's helped me learn. I've been forced to learn how to make myself feel better without using food. If I had been on a regular diet there's no doubt I'd already be off of it and be right back to my old ways. The mind games we play! -
What Were Your Most Helpful Pre-Op Preparations?

They gave me my scripts for pain meds and Prilosec at my preop appt two weeks prior to surgery. It was so convenient! -
What Were Your Most Helpful Pre-Op Preparations?
Joann454 replied to Redo2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I cleaned and had all chores done. Had tons of bottled water and plenty of protein powder already purchased. Made sure my car had a full tank. I didn't feel like doing much the first week after and couldn't lift over ten lbs for a few weeks. -
Ah, so cute! My nickname (in real life) is bananie so I find it a little extra cute [emoji6]

I love your screen name [emoji23]

I only had them the first couple of weeks. I was eating fried chicken and all kinds of stuff at a buffet (I hate buffets ironically). Now that I can eat they've totally vanished.

Insight into "frustrating" success of pre op diet
Joann454 replied to GotProlactinoma's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm just feeling this way now. The first two-three weeks I felt hungry and discouraged. Now I have to force myself to eat (or at least remind myself to eat). I feel no deprivation. No struggle. This is awesome! -
Post-op 3 days vocal cord damage; Hernia Repair
Joann454 replied to Deborah1969's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You've been through the ringer. So you still have no voice at all? No improvements? And on top of that you have an infection? I feel so bad for you. That's pretty miserable. Glad you got more time off work. You need to heal. -

Is it normal to feel this awkward?
Joann454 replied to Christina109's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think I get what you're saying. I felt like people assumed I was a fat lazy person. Maybe it's what I thought about myself? Idk. But if you can try and not care what other people think you will feel no embarrassment or shame. The older I get the less I care. Don't feel embarrassed. This is not the easy way out! Good Luck! -
I feel for you pmsing and carb withdrawals. Congrats on that weight loss! Excellent! What are you craving? Salt or sweet?

How cool that you guys are meeting in MX. You'll share that bond forever! Can't wait to hear how you each made out!

Is powerade zero salty like Gatorade? -
Well, this is interesting. I've been buying new perfumes lately and noticed I'm not drawn to my usual scents. Like they're not working with my chemistry anymore.

I just might give up caffeine for good
Joann454 replied to hmills653's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I thought I would but at three weeks I had a cup of coffee and I was so so very happy [emoji4]. I was missing my "old friend" food and found the coffee comforting in some weird way. I drink two to three cups a day but that's about what I drank before. If you're ok without it I say stay the course! Especially since you don't want to go back to your old consumption levels. -
3 weeks to the day, and feeling HUGE REGRETS!
Joann454 replied to char3672's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When you're not nauseous it gets better. I can't imagine being nauseous for three weeks! You also aren't getting in enough protein and water I'm guessing. All of this will make you feel miserable and definitely not normal. It's not that three weeks is a magical time of normal, it's just many people can get all their requirements in by then so they feel better. Keep taking your meds and try to get in your required fluid and protein. I'd be surprised if you didn't feel better soon! Fingers crossed for you!
