  1. I'm a turtle over here! I won't give up though and I'll try my hardest not to get discouraged. This is for life and definitely a marathon. One thing that is a must for me is logging my food. Amazing how many calories I can eat when I don't pay attention.
  2. One sure way to fail is not to try. I've no doubt you know this though! The surgery will help you succeed but make no mistake, it's up to you in the end. You will have to decide to make the changes and it's definitely not always easy.
  3. I definitely struggled. I was petrified of complications and would convince myself I could do it without surgery. Then I'd change my mind. Right up until surgery I was a nervous wreck. But I did it and I'm so glad. Good luck!

    I've Lost It Today!

My neighbor gained a lot of her weight back after RNY because she believed she could eat what she used to just in smaller portions. Now she's back on a diet like she used to be and really down about it. Good article.

Vacation at 3 months post op?

Just got back from vacation and I'm only 8 weeks out. I had lots of energy and felt great! Have a blast!

About to join the sleeve club

Welcome! Congrats on your weight loss thus far, that's fantastic! How're you handling the preop diet?

    Can't sleep comfortably!

Ugh yes! I am a side sleeper. I was lucky and able to at least sleep on my right side after a week. Doc told me a lot of people sleep in a recliner at first. It gets better! After two weeks I didn't even feel like I'd had surgery.
  8. I lost 15 on a two week diet. Shakes and a meal with some snacks of yogurt. They were thrilled with my weight loss. I'd say you're doing great!

Here I Go (My Journey Thus Far)

How're you doing? How's the nerves? You seem nice and calm.
  10. This was going to be my advice too. Lower the carbs to 20-30 grams. If it doesn't work then lower the calories while keeping the carbs low. At least to bust out of the stall.
  11. How many kcal and carbs are you taking in a day?

Here I Go (My Journey Thus Far)

Good luck!!! Positive thoughts and heal up! Let us know how you did!
  13. Tell him EXACTLY what you told us. It was honest and real. To answer your questions. 1.) My wife was involved from the get go so I didn't have to tell her. 2.) If you open up (as uncomfortable as it'll be for you) and tell him about the chairs and any other examples of how you are forced to think because of your weight it'll help him to understand. Yes, you will feel vulnerable and maybe a bit embarrassed but he needs to know if he is to understand. 3.) No issues at all with her not telling anyone. It's mine to tell and she hasn't struggled with that at all. Please let us know how he took it. We are rooting for you.
  14. I'm so sorry for you. I bet you're at your wits end. Did they not tell you what your options were? Ugh, just no words. Hope they fix this fast.

    Feeling light headed

Gabby, there are so many things that could cause this. You should have your levels checked. First reaction is low sodium but it's impossible to know. Try drinking something with electrolytes (Powerade zero or something similar).

    Feeling light headed

Are you on blood pressure medicine? I was experiencing that too, checked my bp and it was 90/55. I had to stop my meds.

    1st restaurant experience post op

My wife and I went out for Mexican food today. I'm seven weeks post op. We skipped the chips and salsa (fortunately she's eating keto as well) she got Mexican style chicken and steamed veggies and I got grilled chicken that came with a side of rice and beans. It was a lunch portion so I easily ate the chicken and a couple bites of refried beans. I pushed the rice around. We sat and talked and it was not awkward at all. Once you can eat real food it gets easier.

    Breads Post Surgery

Not a vet but bread won't/can't be a part of my diet. Not much nutritional value and way too many carbs.

My journey as a 16 year old.

I'm glad you found someone who would help you and that you're feeling great! Thanks for sharing your story. Very happy for you!

No water 13 hours pre op??

I've always wondered how this made sense when we all get the same instructions for all different timed surgeries. One nurse told me it's in case someone gets cancelled and you get bumped up. Uh huh.

    Seven Years Out

I have seen your posts so many times and didn't know I had formed an image of what you look like. You were blonde in my minds eye. Just got a chuckle out of that. You're an inspiration and I appreciate that you've stuck around to help. Congrats, you look amazing (even better as a brunette [emoji23])

    6 months in the hospital

Wait, your brother in law was one of the unfortunate folks who had awful complications and you think it should be outlawed for the rest of us whose life it will save? While I'm sorry for him, that's ridiculous.
  23. My mom said the same thing but it was Africa not India. [emoji849]
  24. I didn't roll even one eye! [emoji6] I'm so glad you posted. Nobody should ever be ashamed on here, we need each other. I hope you stick around!
