When did everyone begin increasing their calories?
Joann454 replied to sammy246's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I almost wish I couldn't eat anything. It's a blessing and a curse. -
Suddenly not feeling good
Joann454 replied to char3672's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup. This was exactly what my surgeon told me to do if I felt sick. Hope it helps the OP -

Also, was he specific as to why he was leaning towards bypass? -

I don't think it's more than a half an hour longer (give or take) for the bypass vs sleeve. You'll have to take vitamins for the rest of your life with either surgery. Only 10% of people experience dumping (from what I've read). I had the sleeve but if my Dr had recommended bypass I would've done it. I have no GERD and was only prediabetic so the sleeve was ok for me. People have great success with both surgeries. -
nsaid alternative for cramps?
Joann454 replied to shazwott13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Omg I had never thought of that! I don't have my period anymore but seriously, I'd have been bedridden without my ibuprofen! I feel for you! -
If that's obese I'll take it! You look great!

When did everyone begin increasing their calories?
Joann454 replied to sammy246's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am only two months out and lately have been eating 900 kcals. But I'm doing keto and the fat in my foods bumps it up. -
My guess is, like me, you comforted yourself with food. This was a huge shock to me. I had no idea how much I used food to feel better. Also, I wasn't super excited as surgery got closer. I was scared. Just guessing here-but hope you get your enthusiasm back. I had the surgery two months ago and feel great now.

I got my energy! Finally! Took 8 weeks I was really starting to get down about it too. How're you feeling these days?

New to Gastric Sleeve Forum with Questions
Joann454 replied to LCisco32's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had BCBS COVA (VA state employees ins) and the required a year of phone calls once a month with a "health coach". Once you completed that they gave you a certificate and you have a year to then get surgery (still no guarantee you're approved). The hospital I had surgery at was a Center of Excellence and they had their own requirements you had to meet as well. I had my surgery a month before my certificate expired. It was a long road for me. -
Vitamin recommendations
Joann454 replied to Ksinger522's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have to take any of those, just chewable vitamin, calcium, and B12 I'm sorry you're frustrated. I'm a slow loser too. Do you log your food and count your macros? I lost so little the first month too. It's picked up some. Hope yours does too -
I was at the beach in three weeks. But all my scars were covered. I would suggest keeping them covered for now.

Preventing saggy skin
Joann454 replied to Arthur Dent's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Genetics mostly dictate it. I'm definitely trying to tone what I can but from everything I've read there's only so much we can do. -
I don't think crystal light etc is causing the stall. The calories are negligible. I'm only two months out and have hit two stalls. Then I'll drop a few lbs. definitely be patient. You're not doing anything wrong! BTW, having coffee was my happiest moment! I missed it so much!

A high fever sounds like more than just needing water. That's indicative of infection. How are your incisions? -

Why do we fall off the wagon? & How to get back on?
Joann454 replied to bostonmama's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm newly sleeved and feel not one ounce of cockiness or "never". I can already eat anything at two months out. Not a lot, but nothing bothers my stomach. So I must remain vigilant. I could easily be one of the people who only lose 30lbs total if I wanted to. So I'm looking at this surgery like an aide to help me be less hungry while I'm learning a new way to eat. Honestly, that's exactly what it is for me. My sister had bypass and has gained over half her weight back. I have no delusions. I'm working so hard to change my relationship with food. I really think it's the only way for me to be successful. This is most definitely a life long venture. -
When, oh when will I be able to sleep on my side again?
Joann454 replied to alcn1derlnd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oops, I had the sleeve and didn't notice this was the bypass forum. Hope it happens soon. I'm a roller too lol -
When, oh when will I be able to sleep on my side again?
Joann454 replied to alcn1derlnd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Right side within a week, left side a little longer for me. I was kinda miserable as I'm a side sleeper. -
Pictures of my bedroom 2nd day post op
Joann454 replied to BgR72's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh the bending over. I remember that. It took me a week to truly bend to pick something off the floor. If I missed I'd just ask someone to get it or use a hanger. You get inventive. My team was more concerned with me getting in water over protein the first five days. After that I felt well enough to start meeting those goals but water is key and you're doing well! You'll be turning the corner soon and feeling much better. I know exactly what you mean about feeling in shock. I felt like I had mild ptsd afterwards. Again, it went away within a week. Glad you have your dad to help. -
Is this all i will lose?
Joann454 replied to dgarcia27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah. 17 lbs in 8 weeks and 33 since preop diet. It's really frustrating but we are losing. Also, someone here said their weight loss took off at 3 months so...fingers crossed. -
No Regrets ---but this is 'no fun'
Joann454 replied to Nanasha's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've read over and over that we have to learn how to cook to prevent burnout. So today I cooked a keto chicken dish. It was good but yeah, I have no enthusiasm for the cooking. It doesn't help that I used to like to bake fattening things. Cooking, meh. Also, it's so hot I hate to heat the kitchen up. I'm also two months out and I'm just now starting to exercise. I had zero energy and am just feeling more normal now. Hang in there. You'll find foods you enjoy again. -
Best Apps for tracking food & exercise?
Joann454 replied to KansasDelta's topic in Food and Nutrition
I used lose it at first but switched to Baritastic because I could track water too.
