Family gathers make me depressed
RonnieRab replied to ameme's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You are focused on the food aspect. I feel like you need to change your mind set. Just enjoy the family. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App -
You are drinking too much! I had that too. I'm 3 weeks post sleeve. Start with sips so small they barley wet your mouth and drink every 15 min. Slowly increase the amount you put in your mouth at once. I found if I put a mouth full of Water and try to take small drinks in, I take in more air . That doesn't feel good. :-S Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App

I want to get the Sleeve but surgeon is pushing Roux En Y
RonnieRab replied to hectorlopez323's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No actual books. Countless articles and took a 12 week course, every Friday for an hour and a half. I was pretty set on sleeve but this surgeon, as he was examining my meeical record he looks at me and says "oh yeah, we're doing the roux en y".. "we'll go over it in a bit". He seems to insist the rny will cure my GERD and the sleeve will make it worse. I ended up reluctantly agreeing to the rny so he put "roux en y possible sleeve gastrectomy" on the concent form we submitted. He did say that if I insist on sleeve that he will order a GI x-ray to look for a hernia. Said he didn't want to do the sleeve cause he'll just have to go back in and do the rny when the acid gets worse. Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App I think you should insist on the test before going into surgery. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App -

How to help spouse accept surgery
RonnieRab replied to rdharri's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm very sorry that you like many others has to go through this type of ordeal with your significant other. I strongly suggest counseling as soon as possible and making him a part of every step that you can get him involved in throughout your journey. Make it something that you both go through together. If he is overweight as well then he will benefit and perhaps get better at supporting you. Fortunately I am blessed with a husband who just wants the best for me and although we are not as close as we used to be it is a journey to take with your significant other. You and he will both change into different people and evolve throughout these events that you go through. Don't let his negativity bring you down or slow you down. If he does not change his attitude to a positive one of rooting for you and helping you make better decisions for your health then it may be that your relationship has nowhere else to go. Please exacerbate all options before making a decision of ending the relationship but if it is an unhealthy relationship it is best ended sooner than later. God bless you and I will send up a prayer! Overwhelmed after pre-surgery appointment
RonnieRab replied to Heidi.E's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey, don't stress your self out. Take it one step at a time. I would suggest lots of broths in all flavors so you don't get bored. A plain flavorless Protein powder that you can add to everything. As far as vitamins, the bariatric pal store online has vitamins in patche for which I am dieing to try. I would suggest you start there. The less you have to worry about swollowing, the better. God bless. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App -

I watch a lot of wl YouTube videos. One girl I love to watch, Clusie L, recommended checking yourself out in the mirror alot. It helps your brain take in and understand that you are physically changing. It probably makes more sense to do it at home where no one else is looking at you funny because you're staring at yourself. Always catch a glimpse of yourself in reflections out in public also. You will start to realize that your brain is making the connection and always tell yourself positive things. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
