    PreOp apt

I just finished up all of my pre op requirements. I am on an immune system suppressing medication so I have to be off of it for 8 weeks before I can have surgery so it looks like I'll be sleeved on June 9. it's funny you mentioned nerves and hives. On my wedding day I was covered in hives from being nervous! Lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Calling all June '16 sleevers!

Yes! I have finished my 6 months required by insurance as well as the surgeons requirements (2 classes, psych eval, support group attendance, physical within last year, meeting with nutritionist and medical clearance letter from my PCP.) I would have had surgery in May but one of my medications is an immune system suppressant so I have to be off of it for 8 weeks before surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi all! Depending on how full my surgeon's schedule is I may be an April Sleever! If not then early May.

    June - July sleevers?

I was told that smoking after sleeve can cause ulcers too. It also slows down the healing process. Just be careful! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    June - July sleevers?

I actually just got my date at my last appointment on Friday 4/1. I have Anthem BCBS, but I think it is specific to my group. Also, the nurse who gets approvals at my surgeon's office said the approval process for my insurance is just a phone call. I have seen some people on here that get their date very early in the process. Mondays and Fridays are clinic days, so she probably won't get around to calling until tomorrow or Wednesday. I'm so nervous something is going to be denied! We looked over my file on Friday and every single thing I needed to get approved is there.

    June - July sleevers?

Yes! I am finished with all of my classes and stuff, just waiting on approval! They had to pick a date before they submit to insurance so June 9 is my tentative date! I'm very excited! It's been a long winding road to get here!

    VSG & autoimmune diseases?

I have ulcerative colitis and am getting the VSG. My GI doc is hoping that losing a good amount of weight will help me better control my disease. I am on Remicade for treatment of my UC. My surgeon wasn't too excited about that but he has collaborated with my GI doc to come up with a plan. My surgery will be 4-6 weeks after an infusion and I won't be able to have another infusion until 4-6 weeks after surgery. I just hope I don't flare up! A lot of my weight gain came from using steroids a lot of the last 5 years. My surgery will be sometime in the next couple months! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. I'm getting the sleeve, not bypass but I'm taking 2 weeks then working a shorter schedule the 3rd week (4-5 hrs per day vs 8). My boss actually suggested that so it's something to consider! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. Yup. At 350, I broke the car seat in my car, and I have broken slats under my mattress, I also broke a plastic patio chair. However I am guilty of sitting too heavily because it hurts my knees to ease down so I just kinda fall. 350 lbs falling can cause some damage... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Surprised at how fat I am

It's much easier to figure out on a PC. The app kind of limits what you can do. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Surprised at how fat I am

I had that moment of truth a couple of Christmases ago. My sister in law took a lot of pictures and posted them on Facebook and I was mortified. I knew the number had been getting higher and higher on the scale but I still saw myself as an overweight person and not the super morbidly obese person that I had become. That is when I started getting more serious about my weight and ended up on the WLS Journey. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

When Did You First Know You Were Fat?

I was in 6th grade and me and a group of "friends" were talking about nicknames. One of the boys suggested mine should be "Jello" because I was fat. I was so embarrassed. I wasn't very big, probably just a little overweight. But after that year I started becoming very self conscious about my image. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    New app is slow

Maybe it's just me, maybe not. But this new app is so slow on my phone. It's a fairly new phone, (iPhone 6s plus), my internet connection is fine and I have deleted and reloaded the app and it's still slow when I try to load a page on a topic or when I try to reply.
