Hi! Nice to "meet" you! I am more worried about the surgery itself. My biggest worry is once they get inside my abdomen something will prohibit them from doing the actual surgery. I have tried everything in this earth to lose weight and I feel like this is my last chance to be successful! I am using my insurance so I have been preparing for this for the last 6 months. I would be incredibly disappointed if all of my hard work was for nothing. My surgeons office has done an incredible job at making sure I am prepared for my new life after surgery so I am confident I will be successful. I hope you get a date soon! I have BCBS VA. I talked to 4 reps on the phone who told me in the beginning they didn't require 6 months but then I found out through a liaison with BCBS that my plan requires 6 months. I'll attach a picture of the policy. Just be careful of that part. They required 6 months and a psych eval but my surgeon required 3 months, records from my most recent physical (had to be within the last year), 3 classes, attendance to Bariatric surgery support group, a class with a nutritionist then I had to pass a test from the nutrition class. My surgery is in less than 3 weeks. It was all worth it. I feel so prepared and confident that I'm going to be successful. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My BMI is 54 and I am getting the sleeve. It's the only option for me since I have inflammatory bowel disease. My surgeon said in his practice the sleeve has been just as effective as the bypass, it just may take a little longer to lose the weight with the sleeve. Waiting here too! luckily mine only consists of a phone call to get approval but the nurse who does it said she would submit yesterday or Monday and call me as soon as she got off the phone.
