FINALLY! I met my surgeon today who was absolutely fantastic! We chatted about which surgery would be best for me. I informed him of how bad my heartburn/ acid reflux is and this worried him. He ordered an Upper GI and an Endoscopy to see if there is a hiatal hernia causing all this. Basically if I have a hernia he will repair it and do the sleeve gastrectomy, but if there is no hernia he will do the rny. I linked my video from YouTube where I go into more detail and what is next for me ~Carissahttps://youtu.be/s-_BCyd3pEY Sent from my Nexus 6 using the BariatricPal App

I had my WLS orientation on Thursday February 11! It was very informative and I meet my surgeon on February 26!! I just cannot wait!!!

I am back and forth with the sleeve and bypass... I may just ask the surgeon what he thinks is best considering I am almost 25. I honestly hope that with whichever surgery I get... I do have the dumping syndrome.. I'm come from a long line of hard headedness haha. As for the protein I have definitely heard that, and for now I'm just buying single packets.

I had the worst goosebumps after one swig!! Ick! I am pre-op and have not 100% decided which surgery I will ask for. I am really just hoping for any tips as I get into this process even further.

Today I started my 1200 calorie diet to get ahead of everyone and show the surgeons I am ready. I did really well and had 1,020 calories, 58 carbs, and 72 protein! Though I ate something that upset my tummy... Hoping to hold everything down... but yay! Also I resisted temptation of fast food as I was shopping and very tired after it all. Also, I started My Fitness Pal and need friends to help me out! My username is carissaleanne91

My dad had the rny last May and he has done fantastic... But yes the surgeon knows best
-
That's really awesome! I guess I'm nervous about the sleeve because the portion sizes compared to a bypass stomach.. I may be over thinking it though lol
-
Its getting closer to my orientation which if I remember correctly I meet my surgeon for the first time. I know he will ask what surgery I am wanting before he tells me his opinion... Honestly... I have done nothing but research for the past 4 months... The sleeve seems really awesome, but the con's are I already have terrible acid reflux and most people get it with this surgery and I'm in a family of hard headedness lol. The bypass is seeming maybe better because I do need to get some weight of quick in the beginning due to my back injury ... I can't walk around with out chronic pain and my legs giving out.. Sorry this is long, but I'm 24 almost 25 and I want to be sure to get the surgery u can live with my whole life... Suggestions are needed my friends

To help me throughout my journey I have started a video diary or blog to keep me on track when it gets hard. Something to remind myself of why I'm doing this. Here is the link if anyone wants to follow my journey this way. https://youtu.be/JJcbzEhid_g

I have heard several stories like this, and watching myself get worse has really lit a fire under my butt haha. I hope your surgery on the shoulder heals quickly!

At 24 years old, I find myself stuck in bed or in my apartment more than anything. I suffer from chronic back pain, depression and pcos. I have struggled with my weight all my life. I grew up learning that food is there for happiness, sadness, stress, and everything you can think of. I was a very active child, but the amount of food I would eat outweighed my activities. As a teenager my depression really kicked in and I had no idea how to handle it or really what was going on with me. I ate. At 19 I was working my dream job and 3 months in... My back gave out. I have arthritis, bulging discs, degeneration and just recently compressed nerves. My legs give out on me out of no where and the pain I'm in daily is chronic and sometimes unbearable. Here I am a month away from my 25th birthday and unable to go for walks, drives or anything that a person my age should be doing. I am to embarrassed to go on dates, hang out with friends and even go out in public. I often am limping from my back/hip, or having to be pushed in a wheelchair. I have dieted and I love working out, but the weight I lost would come back with a vengeance and my back compromised my ability to do much of anything. I have chose to have surgery to help get some weight off so I can get up and go cycling, jogging, shopping and meeting people. I understand this is not a fix all, but for me its a tool that will help me get my life that I never had.
