9 months out- trying to keep it in perspective
ejirish posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved May 23rd... I'm down 61 lbs. I know I couldnt have ever dreamed of doing that pre-sleeve... but I also imagined myself much further along by now. I've been stuck for a few weeks now... I had been adding granola to my yogurt which I since quit... and I'm back to logging and weighing as of today. I have 23 to go to get to ONEderland... I pray I get there. I'm trying hard not to get depressed...I feel like I eat so little that I cant believe I'm in this situation. How many cals/protein is normal at 9 months? Any advice is appreciated- EJ -

I feel like I could have written this...same deal here. Sleeved 5/23, lost 23 in two weeks....now crickets. I've read about this enough to know its all part of the game... soooo frustrating though. Every time I get on the scale I drop an "F" bomb, lol- its just beyond annoying...I cant wait to push through... -

So, my surgery date is may 23rd, assuming insurance approves- which I should know this week (knock wood) I know we're all different, but I'd love to hear from anyone with similar 'specs' as me...like most, I've battled me weight forever. Diets work, then they dont. I've never really exercised....although I try to walk as much as I can anywhere. I have 3 kids, and a ft desk job. I consider myself to have a superslow metabolism but have never been formally diagnosed with anything. I plan on having a calorie intake of 600-800 (?) and I'm fine with high Protein, low carb... when I did medifast I was the the most successful. I felt really in control too. Any experience and advice is really appreciated! I'm trying hard to stay positive/excited- and not nervous! -

I have a very LOW metabolism- but, I want the sleeve...help!
ejirish posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hi all- I've been doing A TON of research and reading a lot of these forums. I've read encouraging and discouraging stories... I'm in the beginning stages of getting approved for bariatric surgery. Based on what I've learned so far, I believe I want the sleeve. Although I've never been diagnosed with anything officially, I know I already have a low metabolism issue. I'm maintaining 271 lbs on about 12,00-14,00 calories daily. I've tracked this, and I know my standard diet...its very frustrating when people think I'm in some kind of denial. TRUST me- its not easy and I dont eat 80% of the food that I want to- because I KNOW I'll gain weight... Many people have stated they have the same issue- and theyve had success...but many of those stories are from 2010 or so- Others have also made statements like the sleeve wont be successful for me...its all confusing and causing me to have doubts. Anyone with a similar issue whos recently had the sleeve- maybe in the last 6-12 months? I guess I'm just very fearful that I'd go thru this, and it wouldnt be restrictive enough. Any input is greatly appreciated!
