    Sitting in the hospital crying

Just wanted to give an update to you guys I came home on 1/12 feeling 110% better than when I came in. I asked my surgeon and the pulmonary specialist to explain to me what happened. Basically, I had the rare (although from what I heard from nurses, post op bleeding is not that rare ) post operative bleeding complication. When they did the 2nd abdominal surgery, that put me at risk do develop the fluid around my lungs (apparently any abdominal surgery heightens this risk) and the effusion caused the abcess. I felt like a total freak because others I know who have had this sugery had 0 complications. I'm still quite tired and unable to sleep on my side from the soreness. I gained 25lbs of water weight from all the fluids and transfusions (ironic right? Come in for WLS and gain 25lbs lol) so in 15 days I've lost 44lbs. I'm just glad to be out of the hospital! Spent 8 nights, 10 days there. People have ready asked me, was it worth it? Baring any future complications, I would say yes! Even being tired, getting that weight off makes it easier to move around and I look forward to being able to swim and exercise more thanks.for the support guys!

Thank you all so much for your support and well! Thanks for the idea about getting an advocate and for this situation
  4. I'm glad I found this board, it has been so helpful already as I just joined today. I'm having complications from my surgery and am so depressed and wishing I could take it back. Here is my story, if anyone else has experienced anything like this, please respond. Here's my story : Went on on 12/31/15 for gastric sleeve, was told surgery went great. At 9pm that same night I went in stage 3 shock and was transfered to the ICU They found that I had lost over 6 pints blood. They did 5 transfusions but the bleeding wouldn't stop so Sunday Jan 3rs, they did surgery again to see what was causing bleeding and repaired it. I had 24 ounces of blood clots removed. Although in a lot of pain from two abdominal surgeries, my numbers were rising. I went home on January 5th. I was in a lot of pain and short of breath at home. Thursday, Jan 7th I had blood work that showed my white count as high and my hemoglobin was back down. I had a fever Jan 8th of 102. They did a CT Scan and found fluid around my lungs and belly. I take it this is not something that normally happens. I'm just so worried that I'm not going to recover. Thanks for the help!
