Portland Oregon Lapband get together
pat7go replied to Stormys007's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What a nice gesture! We look forward to it. -
I was banded 10-13-08, and am just now able to sleep on my side. I find that the heating pad helps A LOT. I also have a elastic back splint that I used to use when lifting heavy things. I find that wearing that helps a lot too when I cinch it up fairly tight. I am going back to work next week, and am worried about the pain. good luck!

Call your Doctor! My post-op instructions have an on-call number for any questions. Please look on your paperwork. It may be nothing to worry about, but you will feel better hearing it from your Doctor.

Sounds fun! I will try to be there. I will still be on my liquid phase, so I'll see if they have something I can drink! Spouse welcome? -
Any October Bandsters!??!?!
pat7go replied to SoCalCass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am taking Centrum chewables, B-12, selenium and flaxseed oil. Is anyone else really tired 1 week post surgery? Good luck to the folks getting surgery this week! I am tired, and still painful, but I know I made the right choice! -
Any October Bandsters!??!?!

Hi Everyone! Got banded on 10-13-08. I was really worried about hunger post-surgery, but I really haven't missed food that much. I quickly got tired of protein shakes, so I have been pureeing a lot of things, and adding protein powder. Does anyone else feel really weak? I am getting more than 60 grams of protein and lots of water daily, plus all my chewable vitamins. I also have a lot of pain where I think the port is, but I stopped taking pain medications because of the drowsiness. Have to go back to a very physical job next week, and I'm worried! -
Will I Be Returning to Work Too Soon?
pat7go replied to gracie78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I hope you feel well enough to return. Honestly, there was no way I could have. Banded 10-13, planning to return 10-25. I'm even worried about that date! Hopefully I am in the minority... -
how to get home from surgery
pat7go replied to kplant's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you pre-arrange a ride with the cab company? I was well enough to ride home with my husband the day after surgery. But, you will be pretty tired. Good luck! -
I was banded on 10-13. I thought that the heating pad really helped, as did taking gas-X under the tongue strips. I feel much better today than I did yesterday.

Poll - Democrat or Republican?

Barack Obama will make a great president. Just because McCain has more experience does not mean he will be a good leader. -

Hi Patty, Good question! I am also meeting with Dr Tersigni on Oct. 10th (9:40am), and I have surgery scheduled on Oct 13th with him! I am self pay. Scared out of my mind now about if I am doing the right thing! I will keep checking this post. Good luck! Pat

Hi, I live in the Portland, Oregon region. I was just declined by my insurance company, and have already sent a letter of appeal. My primary care physician refuses to write me a letter of appeal, saying she doesn't know enough about the surgery. My back doctor and my gynecologist both wrote letters. How bad does it look on the appeal if my doctor won't write the letter? Anybody in the west Portland area have a primary doctor that supported them in their quest for a lap-band? I will be switching doctors! Just very bummed while waiting for the appeal decision...

Has anyone had luck with getting insurance approval for the lap-band because of back pain? I have severe back pain, and it is much worse because of my weight. I have a BMI of 36, so I need a co-morbidity to get surgery. Also, I called for a quote on doing the self pay option and was quoted $6500 for surgery and anesthesia. Based on the other threads, this seems way too low. What other questions should I be asking them about the quote. (Portland, OR) Thank you!
