I have been overweight all my life until my Jr year in high school when the weight just dropped off. At age 20 I had my son who was born with pyloric stenosis. After his birth, I lost all the weight until he went into surgery at 2months old. My family were two states away and my ex-husband was useless so I turned to food for comfort. After that life, in general, was crappy so I comforted in food and subsequently had my daughter 2 years later. 2 1/2 years later I was divorced raising two kids by myself with no financial or physical support from their father. My son also was diagnosed with Asperger's and Optic Nerve Hypoplasia. My life revolved around my children and for that I have no regrets. Now that they are both young adults and prospering I have been trying to get my weight on track so it's my time to enjoy my life doing things I want to do without the self-induced guilt of doing things and spending money on myself. After 8yrs of being divorced I met my now husband, overweight and all. He shows me daily he cares and loves me and we are happier now than ever. After 10 years together we had both gained more weight, he only 40lbs overweight me 100+lbs. In 2013, we both started following the DASH diet for weight loss and it works! Within a year, I lost 93lbs and my husbands BMI was 26. I still was considered morbidly obese, but less so and we planned a trip to Punta Cana in May 2015, that's where I fell off the wagon, chopped it up and burnt it. I've gained back 40lbs and have tried to go back on the DASH diet with less than stellar results. Where I lost 14lbs after the two week kick start the first time, when I tried again this past November I only lost 4lbs... Feeling defeated I listened to a friend talk of the sleeve and she was gung-ho about it with no reservations. I attended Dr. Sanborn's seminar and decided I'd look more into it. So here I am after an Upper GI/EGD because I have a narrowing in my esophagus and pre-op classes I finally have a surgery date of March 28th. I am excited to have some help in this weight loss battle but am also very scared.
