How long did it take after your first fill before you got restriction
Ohtobethin replied to Firecallie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my first fill last week and it feels no different. I still have no restriction. I don't go back to the Dr. until the third week in January so I guess I will see how it goes. Hopefully the second fill will help. -
I started out in October at about the same weight as you. I will be very pleased to have lost 46 pounds in 7 months! You are doing great.

Did you cook for your family when you were on the liquid phase???Very picky eaters.
Ohtobethin replied to ladysplenda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I felt the same way. My husband has been on nights for years so I didn't think it would be too hard. He was on his own during the week. Unfortunately, he went on days the very week of my surgery! My timing is always just a little off. Anyway, for the first two weeks, I was actually mad at him any time he would eat (He did his own cooking). I am finally over that but glad my liquid/mushy stage is almost over. -
I just had my 2 week post op Dr. appointment and he told me walking at a regular pace for 20-30 minutes is all for now. He said to wait 2 more weeks for cardio and 6 weeks for any weight related exercises. So take it easy for now.

Hang in there. Two weeks ago I felt exactly the way you are feeling right now. I thought "what in the world have I done to myself?" I had no other issues except being overweight and I do this extreme surgery. But now I am feeling better, have lost 12 pounds and am starting to get my energy back. The Dr. said the energy level is connected to the surgery and the fact I was not getting enough protein. Now that I can eat a little more, I am getting more of what I need. Give yourself a goal of the end of the year - not very long to heal and you will be amazed at how grat you feel. Is there a support group in your area that you can go to in the near future? Good Luck.

Are you sure it is related to your band?

What restriction should I feel?
Ohtobethin replied to seehawksimms's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow, I can't figure out why I have so much pain still. It is like a 'burning' in my port area. I cannot bend to pick something off the floor or even roll over in bed. I still cannot sleep on my left side. I go to the Dr. on wed. the 9th for my post op so I will ask if it is still painful. At first I thought it was because of my age but I notice that we are close in age. Bummer. I could actually be enjoying my time off work. My insurance paid for the surgery and I have 2 weeks off work. I guess I am blessed to have such good coverage. -

What kind of things are you eating now? I really miss eating. I think we have about the same amount to lose. My Dr. said I was 85 pounds overweight. Can't see myself getting down to what I was 30 years ago but would be happy with 50. Do you still have pain? -

I was banded on Oct. 25 and I still feel restriction, but also have a lot of pain still near where I imagine the port is. I am feeling hungrier between my liquid meals. Are you still on liquids? I don't get to go to the 'blended' stage until next Tuesday. Can't wait. Shirley -
My surgeon recommends a 2 week liquid diet. I just could not do it. My head never stopped hurting. I thought 'if we could do this, we wouldn't need the surgery!" Well when I went in for my post op the Dr. told me that he just wanted me to lose a little before the surgery so just try the best I could. I guess I am considered 'small' by comparision to most that have this surgery so maybe my Dr. didn't that it was that critical to do. I am 9 days post op and already getting sick of the liquid diet so I don't know how I could have done it for a month. I can't wait to the mushie stage next week. Shirley

Just wanted to say that I am feeling SO much better. Everyone was right on this board that all of a sudden you are yourself again. I don't have to go back to work for another week so I am going to see how much walking I can do in 7 days. I does get better. Shirley

Oh, I am glad you are getting better. I was banded Tuesday but they barely looked to see if anything was getting down before they were wanting to discharge me. I insisted on staying until I didn't feel like vomiting. They did keep me an extra day but I don't feel I was well taken care of. Most said that I was not heavy enough to have this kind of surgery - did I try losing weight on my own? Are they kidding? No, I just woke up one morning and said "Oh my gosh, I am fat, I think I will have drastic surgery!" I had the surgery in Libertyville, IL and I should have researched how much surgery the hospital had done. I am feeling much better now. Shirley

I am 53 and was just banded Tuesday. Is that old? Shirley

I was banded Oct. 25 and am feeling much better today. They are right, each day gets better.

Wow, I can't believe you guys are doing so good. That is great. I have had a little more trouble. Nothing to put my finger on except pain and sick to my stomach. I am better today. I was on clear liquids but now am on full liquids for 2 weeks before starting mushy stage. I am sure we can get through this.

I had my lapband on Tuesday (10/25). Don't ask me yet if I would do it again. It was very painful for the first 4 days. I am now on full liquids and still have a lot of gas and can't sleep on my side yet. Hopefully tonight will be the last one in the recliner. They say it gets better!

My thoughts are with you today. My surgery is tomorrow and I feel the same way you describe. We are making the right choice, but I too am afraid of failure. Please keep us posted on your recovery. Shirley

My question is why do we have to do the liquid diet before we have the surgery? My date is Oct. 25 and I am having a really hard time sticking to just liquids. Shirley

Are you a closet bandster? & Do you regret your decision?
Ohtobethin replied to Time to love me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You are not obliged to tell her what kind of surgery you are having. That is what the HIPPA laws are all about. I just told my coworkers that I had to have surgery and would be out for 2 weeks. Shirley -
