It will get better. After the first week, it should get just a tiny bit better daily. Before you know it, you'll be able to get your Water in. But it will always be a challenge -- or, it is for me. I still have problems with plain water at 5 months out, but I can make it work if there are no other options (finally). I add a splash of juice to everything. Lots of lemon, in a pinch. Tepid water is the most difficult thing to deal with. But quantity is no problem now. Some people have no issues at all at this stage. Everyone's going to be a little bit different. But it gets better, and will very soon!

Let HR be the one to slap him in the face. Seriously!! People like that will never learn otherwise to keep their thoughts to themselves. All else fails, justifiable homicide ????

Welcome! I also suggest you call. Most calls are recorded and they are beholden to the information they give you, in case there is ever a dispute.

I've tried lots of these. My soft foods phase was full of great stuff!! My favorite however was sashimi... my sleeve still loves it. -

What are/were you looking forward to being able to do post-surgery?
Ruth1ess replied to Maloneymommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Walking and biking all day without getting sore feet, worn out, or miserable. I love to walk and explore, but have felt limited because of my weight. I'm one month post op and 40 lbs down, and kept up with my partner without getting too out of breath. When it came time to climb a small mountain, I ran up the steep path without fear of slipping. In this last week I've ridden a bike around an island, walked all day around Toronto, walked up several flights of stairs, and taken on challenges I'd normally hesitate about. I feel so liberated at 253! I nearly come to tears thinking about how I'll feel when I'm another 50 lbs down. So exciting!! -
40 lbs down, 4 weeks post op -- update
Ruth1ess posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
HW: 293 SW: 275 CW: 253 Surgery date: 4/14/16 Four weeks out from surgery yesterday and I'm 40 lbs down in total. I went into a two week scale stall from week 2 to week 4, then dropped 8 lbs in the past few days. I go back to work tomorrow and realized I don't really have anything to wear (my pants are falling off). I went from a tight size 22 jeans (probably close to a 24) to buying a pair of 18s today. Huzzah!! I'm tolerating just about everything but pork loin and eggs. Still avoiding simple carbs with a personal commitment to stay under 50g daily (but am usually around 30g). Consuming 600-700 calories daily. Doing really well with my Proteins and hitting my goal of 65g daily. I try to sneak in a bite of veggies at lunch or dinner as well, and crave them like crazy. I've tried cantaloupe, blueberries, and apples (with cheddar spread, nom!). Tolerating soft nuts like cashews well. My favorite post-op food so far is sashimi. It goes down so good, can be spiced up, and just makes my mouth and sleeve so happy. It's the one thing I've had zero problems with. Salmon and tuna are my favorites so far whether on nigiri (I don't eat the rice) or tataki. I also enjoy a nice Thai chicken with veggies with peanut sauce. Fluids are still a struggle since I have problems tolerating Water, but I've found Karma. It's a Vitamin drink sweetened with stevia. I mix it with two parts water, one part Karma and it goes down really well. Fairlife milk is also a staple, and I drink it on nights when I'm having trouble getting in Protein and fluids. I've been pretty active, getting in 10-12k steps per day. I go back to my normal routine tomorrow with work, so I'll need to switch things up just a bit to continue my good walking progress. Yesterday I took a 5k hike in and out of a ravine (intense hills!) with my boyfriend and it was a blast! Really happy with my sleeve and my progress. Excited to see where this journey will take me! Adding you! I'm @unboundedlife and I was sleeved 3 weeks ago Sent from my Nexus 5X using the BariatricPal App -
I want to be able to wear boots that go over my calves. I want to wear converse without my feet killing me from the no arch support. I want to be comfortable in public transit and planes and fit in seats with extra room. I want to be able to comfortably cuddle on the couch with the boy. I want to feel like a trophy girlfriend instead of being ashamed to meet his friends. Sent from my Nexus 5X using the BariatricPal App

Scared out of my mind
Ruth1ess replied to haleymarie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was the most confident person about my surgery with no fears. Then, I cried when I was about to be wheeled into the OR. I kept reminding myself that everyone I've ever talked to, whether they had complications or not, said surgery was the best decision they ever made for themselves. It helped. Fear is normal. Three weeks post op and loving it it's not without its challenges, but I don't regret it one bit. Sent from my Nexus 5X using the BariatricPal App -
I am interested as well. I made the same post in the Ladies Only forum, but didn't really get much in the way of answers. Sent from my Nexus 5X using the BariatricPal App

You know you lost weight when
Ruth1ess replied to Thomas CPA's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
When you don't have to turn sideways through turnstiles anymore... When people insist you did something different to your hair and you haven't... When the plane seatbelt fits again!! Yay! 3 weeks post op, 34 lbs down. Sent from my Nexus 5X using the BariatricPal App -
I agree with everything above. Also I suggest getting out a tape measure and getting your measurements. When the scale doesn't move, your body still does! It's good affirmation that you're still on track. Sent from my Nexus 5X using the BariatricPal App

Could you tell us the name of the group? I may be weird, but I don't usually add people I don't know to my FB. Might be easier to search for the group and send an add request. I searched spring 2016 vsg on FB but nothing came up. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I'm sorry, the group isn't searchable. It's set up as private, that way people can't find the group or members. We still have a lot of people that are keeping the surgery a secret from their Facebook friends and wanted to make sure their privacy was kept. A link wouldn't help. You need to be invited to private groups. I hope you join us! We have a great family on there with lots of support.

Just had a really intense experience. Boyfriend made a really tender, soft pork loin and wet scrambled eggs for Breakfast. I took about an ounce of pork and 1/3 cup of eggs. Chewed well. Everything went down really nice and I stopped before I felt full. A couple of minutes later, some REALLY intense pain started in my stomach. Like, a 10 out of 10. It was difficult to breathe, and nothing I could do would ease the pain. I got hot and sweaty. There was no stuck feeling in my throat, no nausea. No overfilled feeling. I tried making myself throw up to see if that would ease it. I threw up a couple of bites but that was it. All I could really do was whimper and pace around. After about 10-15 minutes, it let up as fast as it had come on. Is this what dumping syndrome feels like? Has anyone else experienced this? That was awful! I assume my stomach just isn't ready for the pork, but that was scary and not my typical response to "not ready for that" food. Usually it feels heavy and stuck after I swallow if I'm not ready for it. I'm on the mechanical diet phase and was encouraged to try meats if they were moist and soft or chopped finely. So far I've had cubes of chicken and shrimp that I tolerated well, so this wasn't a new texture. Sent from my Nexus 5X using the BariatricPal App

Intense pain 2 weeks post op
Ruth1ess replied to Ruth1ess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lesson learned. I'm going to go with "not ready" even though permissible. I'm just glad I was at home and not at a restaurant when it happened. I almost passed out :/ Sent from my Nexus 5X using the BariatricPal App -
