Congratulations! -
@bellabloom I'm in the same boat as you. Longest I maintained was 3 years. Lots of anxiety and depression around this... know you're not alone here. These two suggestions are good. The therapist I go to does something called a "Private Pay" where you negotiate the fee with them. I did this for several years because she wasn't certified with my insurance... it ended up being less than half what they bill my insurance. You may also find a clinic that has a certain number of compassionate care spaces available too. A good therapy clinic will work with you because they don't want to see anyone struggle.

@ I'm actually pretty careful in picking who I told. My parents and wife. My boss, who I trust pretty well and two very, very close friends who I trust to stay quiet (one of which had RNY last year). Yeah, I know there's a chance they'll slip up, but I'm not being open about it (I'm typically a pretty open person about things). With any luck I can "control the narrative" as they say on West Wing. @@VSGAnn2014 - That's a good statement: " you don't have a deadline about telling anyone" I know I'm going to get questions from co-workers when it comes time to disappear for a month, I'm practicing my polite versions of "None of your beeswax" . I already pretty much know what I'm going to say when people ask how I lost weight: "Clean living, exercise, and low carbs."

This has been a good topic for me to read... I kinda bought into that "easy-out" hype for a while. I know that's not the way it is (never really did think it was that simple). It also has confirmed my gut feeling that I shouldn't really tell too many that I'm considering/may do surgery. There's exactly 6 people that know that I'm even considering.

I would have complained to the charge nurse. If it was the charge nurse, then the administrator of the ward. That is awful.

I know I'm waaay pre-op, but I've been on the fence about everything and researching like crazy. But I finally took a big step this week and scheduled going to the Bariatric Introductory Meeting at HealthEast on Feb 11. I'm really anxious... can't imagine what I'll be like in the OR Just wanted to share.

I've been around here for a few months with another account. I got to thinking about my account and that if I need to come vent about my support system, it may be a bit too easy for them to find me, should they decide to come out here to the family forum or are looking for recipes or something. Would it be bad etiquette to switch my user name to this one?
