  1. So I had my first appointment last Thursday with the bariatrician. My head is swimming. LOL The HealthEast program is really really awesome and well-organized. They handed me a binder chock full of stuff that they will be adding to as I continue my journey. I have so many tests to have done. They have a dedicated insurance person and they think I may be getting a surgery date in June! That seems so fast... guess I need to go figure out how the tickers work LOL.

    Lets talk sausage....

You know, it's a good day when my unread list includes "I'm giving up my nuts" and "Lets talk sausage" are near each other on the list
  3. That's awesome! I'm likely getting my RNY come June (unless my mother-in-law decides she's coming ). The COE that I'm going to is covered by my insurance and so the requirements aren't as stringent (having a BMI of 49.1 also speeds things up), and I also had a sleep study 15 years ago.

    Age is but a number......

It's great that your mom is opening up to the idea! Here's an interesting read... kind of an overview about relationships post WLS.

    Age is but a number......

I agree with what others are saying. Thinking back to when I was 19, I was in much better shape than I am now, but I think I had the clarity to move ahead with something like this had I needed to. Make sure you research everything and realize that surgery is not a cure-all--it's a tool for weight loss, you're making a significant lifestyle change. Likely for 70 years in your case Best of luck in your decision.

    What Is Your Biggest Fear?

I'm afraid of regaining as most of us are. I've just been down the weight loss path before only to have my pounds return with a few friends. I'm worried that once the monitoring becomes less often that bad habits will return. I'm also nervous about complications… that I'll be that 0.14 in the statistic. Lastly, I've never been good at advocating for myself, I'm a "fixer"… afraid that new confidence and success will not go well in my relationships.

    I have WHAT?

I got my sleep study in 2002. My wife calls it our "marriage saver" I was shocked at how much better I felt even after the point in the study where they come in and put the mask on at the end for a little while So anyone out there dreading your sleep study, don't. You will feel so much better.
  9. This. My workplace also does the biometric screenings and if anything doesn't match what my PCP is telling me, I call in and get a test scheduled. Mobile labs are notorious for being inaccurate.
  10. Yeah, but the app should be clearing them when you open it up. That's how other apps work Something to fix for the next update. While on the subject of notifications, it would be nice if the items in the menu would badge as well... Particularly notifications. And it would also be cool if the Subscribed link at the top would indicate if there are any unread posts in there Thanks again for the big update. I'm a software engineer and tester so I appreciate the effort!
  11. Hi! I'm on iOS and I can't get push notifications to clear. Other than that, I'm liking the changes
  12. I can echo what others say about just finding something you like. There's always going to be something that gets your heart rate up that you like doing. [emoji6]

    AC1 7.4

Yup. It's an A1c >= 6.1. I can't remember, but also I think if your fasting blood sugar is above 100 they'll diagnose you as well. I had both so...
  14. Just wanted to share... So Thursday was my class at HealthEast. I was nervous about the class, and was worried about my wife's reaction. Both were much better than expected! I am super impressed with how friendly and helpful everyone is, and I'm glad I chose to go through them. The class was in two parts... the first part was done by one of the surgeons... that ended up being almost all review for me. Then the nurse took over and blew my mind . The class was just what I needed to give me the confidence I need to proceed... I've decided to go ahead and start the process... just need to make a call to insurance, and then schedule appointment #1. Off to the races I go...

Guy's Room - Men, you might want to try this...

I initially started looking for ways to calm down. I would recommend looking on YouTube. There's lots of styles demonstrated and you can see what appeals to you. I'm not so much into the power yoga stuff because of my anxiety. But even the kind of "spiritual" stuff is a hellofa workout When I go, I usually do an "all levels" class because they give you options so that if you can't turn your body into a pretzel, you still get some benefit.

Guy's Room - Men, you might want to try this...

I've done yoga off and on. I really feel good afterwards and it makes leg day more tolerable.

Glad it went well. Best of luck as you continue.

    You're Cheating

Listing out your exercise regime is a really awesome way to combat the cheating argument!
  21. Thanks for asking this question, @careya123. I'm thinking about this too. I made it a couple of years on Atkins, but gained it all back and then some.
  22. The last episode of Serial wasn't too bad. They're starting to get away from setting the stage and more into what actually was going on. But you're right. Not as good as the Syed case.
  23. I mentioned it over in your podcast thread, but if you are a history nut, make sure to check out Hardcore History... He meticulously researches and explores every subject... and tells it all in an entertaining manner.
  24. I use an Accu Check Nano. I like it because it doesn't take a gallon of blood for a sample. Its the meter they gave me at the doctor.
