sjdtx replied to bigguy928's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
VSG on 2/17- down from 292 to 253. Still having two shakes most days (78g Protein combined). Not exercising yet but I have been back at work since day 7. -
to top it all off, my wife and I had WLS on the same day, so we are on the hook for $13,200 altogether.

I had to pay 20% of my surgeon's bill in advance. The hospital wanted me to pay 20% of their bill too but I told them I would pay $800 instead because I knew that my max out-of-pocket for the year was $6,600.

For those who have already been sleeved...

ooof, I'm jealous of Miss Mac on this! I paid $2,860 for surgeon and anesthesiologist. I haven't figured out yet what I owe the hospital. I have BCBS of Oklahoma (PPO) through my employer. -
Taking women to restaurants and other places out on dates, buying them presents and flowers costs a few coins. Nothing more in what I wrote, nothing less. To compare what I wrote to rape? FYI, I know someone who was raped, I would never write anything that could even be misconstrued as a joke about that. Wow, you have some serious anger issues that need to be addressed. Good thing I didn't tell you to "get off your high horse" in an earlier post, you probably would have compared that to animal cruelty. Give it a break, you are wrong in how you interpreted what I wrote. There are bigger causes out there for you to champion. Take a deep breath and try to have a good day. your original post was out of line. This isn't Penthouse... and I'm not a prude.

I had surgery VSG on 2/17. My surgeon gave me a "Phase 2" diet that includes mushy foods like apple sauce, yogurt, soft meats, and cottage cheese. I am supposed to introduce one or two of those per day so that I can learn what is comfortable and what isn't. He also stressed that I eat slowly so that I learn to recognize when I feel satisfied and then stop eating. Does your surgeon's office not have a nutritionist to guide you moving forward? Going back to work POST-Op.
sjdtx replied to flexnix's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on Wednesday morning (2/17/16) and was comfortable enough to return to my desk job on the following Tuesday. I think it helped that I followed my 2-week pre-op diet religiously and I told myself repeatedly that I would immediately get up and start walking after surgery and not stay in the bed. -

I started my pre-op diet on Wednesday. I have a Protein goal of 80g per day with 64 oz of Water per day. I am having a shake for Breakfast and a shake for lunch then a protein & veggie dinner. I've lost 5 pounds so far but my biggest hope for now is that this pre-op diet will help me recover more quickly. I have never had surgery before and I want to be back at work on the 5th day. I have more days off than that but I don't want to use them.
