Schel, I was banded late July and found that in the last month or so I could eat salads and fruit quite well, but everyone is different. I can eat an apple with no problem. The only food I find is a problem is fish, I think because it's dry it gets stuck more easily. Quilter Mom

LAD, The pain might be that the gas they filled you belly with has not worked it way out yet. Try walking around and moving to move that gas out. It helped me. Quilter Mom

I didn't have any pain after my first fill, although the lidocane shot hurt more than the fill needle. Hope things are better soon.

Scared to death about my first fill! HELP!!
Quilter Mom replied to Bensmum1109's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I got through my first fill on November 10th. I had to go to x-ray for my first. It's been 3 1/2 months since my surgery. Dr. Morand gave me a 4cc fill and I find that I don't have anymore restriction than before my fill. I contacted him and I have to wait another 6 weeks to get more fill. I'm still losing but it's taking a lot of struggle to not eat too much. -
dianeb, I've had some discomfort as well. I talked to my doctor and he said it was probably my port but since I haven't had a fill yet he wasn't sure. I have a fill next week in x-ray and he will check it out then. Quilter Mom

Scared to death about my first fill! HELP!!

I was banded on July 28th and have finally scheduled a fill for November 9th. I have to have mine done in X-ray because we can't feel my port yet. I've been lucky though since July 28th I've lost over 40 pounds without a fill. Lately though I've been able to eat way too much, way too easily, so it's time. Good luck with everything. Yes, I was very hungry the first two weeks. They told me it was because of the bigger band. With the bigger band you have less restriction and therefore you don't get that full signal like you would have with the smaller band. But the hunger will pass. The plus with the bigger band is that you can get all your Water in and when you start taking in regular food they is almost no chance of vomitting. Quilter Mom

I'm new to the group today. Things are going great. I've lost 35 lbs since July 28, 2005. I started at 261.5 and am down to 226.5

I love quilting although I haven't been able to do it for a while because I've been renovating my new home, along with recovering from surgery. My weight was 261.5 on the morning of surgery and now it's 226.5. I hope to get down to around 160. I don't ever expect to be skinny. Good luck with your weight loss.

Yes, but I think I'm not getting enough to eat. My diatition thinks I should take in more but I'm afraid I'll loose less

I'm new to the group today too! Good luck with your surgery. I was banded on July 28th and everything has gone very well. I was a little concerned about the scaring as well but things are healing up just fine.

I have the larger band and find that I was hungry after surgery until my body got used to taking in less calories. I am able to get in all the water I need to. I find that I need to be more disciplined than those with the smaller band.

Wow, I wish I could take in that many calories and loose that much in a week. I've been taking in 600 calories a day and have been able to loose about 2.5 lbs a week. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Congrats to you for loosing 4 more pounds.
