Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
lifesaver replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Yay! That gives me a new goal to shoot for! -
I travel almost every week for work and so I'm going through airport security constantly. I am always wearing my BB and have never had a problem with it in security.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Hey Dee, thanks for your warmth and conversation at RR Wed night. It was nice to finally have someone to chat with about "band stuff" face to face. I am looking forward to meeting the rest of the gang sometime with the weather is better. BTW Dee, I found that paperwork that says to drink things that fit through a straw but the use of a straw IS NOT recommended. It's on the preop paperwork that we are given with the instructions for Day 1-5 of the clear liquid diet and day 6-14 of the Full liquid diet. It doesn't say why a straw is not recommended. Maybe if it did, we would know if that rule applies with liquids after those phases. Just wanted you to know that I solved the mystery of where that info came from. Take care. Rene' -
I read a post on here that says you are supposed to wear the BB on your right arm? My right arm got irritated from the Bugg, so I switched to my left? Does anyone know of a problem with that?

So...I think maybe I missed something. I purchased my BB at at 24 Hour Fitness a over a week ago. The manager at the gym took my measurments and set up my account online. I have been using it ever since, logging my food and uploading my calories from the BB to my computer. What is this that everyone is talking about coaching sessions with someone online? Did that come with my purchase?

Anyone not losing due to emotional eating/eating around band?
lifesaver replied to mandi78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mandi, I wonder if you reached out to some other bandsters in your area and created a support group if that would help? I think it would fulfil 3 of the areas where you are struggling. You would surround yourself with others that have the same struggles and goals as you. You would have a place to outflow some of the emotion (instead of emotionally eating) by talking with those that understand what you are going through and third, you would make friends. I think doing this thing alone is very hard.....beleive me I know, cuz that is my MO. I am in the process of reaching out for support in my local area. I just have to get out of my comfort zone and try and make some friends who understand what I am going through. I feel like sabotaging myself almost every day. I wish you the best. -

I was banded 1/9/08 by Dr K and I've had 2 fills so far. I am really looking for support here in the Denver area and would love to be a joiner in some of your get togethers. I'm feeling sort of alone in this process and even though it's way out of my comfort zone to ask for help/support, I really need some. How can I hook up with you cool chicks? Thanks! -
5 Weeks Post Op and Gaining Weight
lifesaver posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery 5 weeks ago and I have absolutely no restriction and lots of hunger. I've even gained weight in the last 3 weeks. I have been exercising 3-4 times a week and hoping that I would be down about 10 lbs before my first fill.....I didn't even consider the possibility that I would or could gain any weight. Has anyone else out there had this experience? I feel like such a failure. -

Hi All, How does one find out what size band she has? Does Dr K use mostly one kind/size band? Obviously Dr K would know, but he's probably not awake and interested in my silly question at midnight on a Tuesday:-) -
medicine/pill question
lifesaver replied to zetajenn5's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was able to take anything at 2 weeks post op. I take small pills for thyroid and allergies. I also take Omega 3 capuls and those suckers are big. I just had my first fill today so I'm not sure if I can still take those...but my small pills went down fine. Good luck to you. -
What does a fill feel like??? (duplicate threads combined)
lifesaver replied to Lily76's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my first fill today. The doctor will palpate "feel" the area that your port is in, locate the exact spot and stick the needle in. It didn't hurt....was just a little poke. The weird thing is that they leave the needle in and sit you up so that you can drink water. That is how they can tell if they put in the right amount of fluid. It took about 5 minutes tops. No pain, not uncomfortable at all. Just dont look at it and you will be fine. Be careful eating afterwards....I had my first slime experience tonight...not fun. Good luck to you....fills are a breeze. -
i need a buddy im going to dr k on feb 27th
lifesaver replied to smsmithart's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded by Dr K a couple weeks ago. I travel for work and will be out of town on the 27th but I can try and support you for your fills. I am getting my first fill on February 11th. -
This is so silly but I must ask..... I had my band surgery 17 days ago and today I chewed a piece of gum which I ended up unconciously swallowing. I am not experiencing any problems with it....but my question is this. After a fill when you have restriction what would happen? Would that gum get stuck? I am eating normally at this point with no restriction (my doc says normal foods are ok after day 14...so those of you on liquids for 4-6 weeks after surgery, please dont fret). Anyone with a gum swallowing experience out there to share?? Thanks

Traveling after the band
lifesaver replied to illion's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I travel for work and had a business trip planned for 5 days after my surgery which lucky for me was cancelled. There is NO WAY I would have felt well enough to travel. I am now 11 days out and just now feeling like I could get on an airplane. The Dr warned me about picking up anything really heavy (suitcase) so that might have been a problem too since I don't tend to travel light (my suitcase is usually pushing the 50 lb mark). I wish you luck. I know some people feel just fine by day 5...I just wasn't one of them. -
I'm scared!!! Is lapband weight loss too slow?
lifesaver replied to BellaPerdente's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Dr Kirshenbaum in Denver is $9950. He has a lot of out of state patients. He did my surgery about a week ago. He has a couple threads in on this site. -
Hi, I'm new, out here in CO
lifesaver replied to deevah28's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Amy, I had my lap band surgery 7 days ago. Dr Kirshenbaum is my doctor too. I had my follow up appt with Dr K today and met a nice lady who had her surgery a month ago. She told me about this site so I was just checking it out. I am feeling like I need support. Let me know if you have any questions. Rene'
