    Energy supplements

Hi all, Wanted to check if any of you that workout on regular basis (high intensity) take anything for energy? I am 7 months out and normally I have good amount of energy, well even others notice since I lost weight I look more energetic and constantly doing stuff, but personally when it comes to my workouts I just feel drained. My labs are good, I am eating and drinking enough so I just feel like I need some kind of push. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  6. @@PrettyThick1 I feel you, I had my band for 8 years, honestly looking back at it I hated it since the beginning. I couldn't eat healthy foods like chicken and other things unless they were drenched in sauce. I felt like a failure and finally I developed horrible heart burn and had to get t emptied few times I kept gaining weight I said I had to do something about it. It was a hard decision to make but I did revise to RNY this year, I am 7 months out and even though I had complications I am so much more happier now and I don't miss my band at all. I am down 87 lbs this year and 42 more till goal. I know some people did well with the band but I was not one of them, just wish I did the revision many many years ago. Hope you find what you are looking for, talk to your surgeon about your options. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Dumping syndrome?

I dump on certain foods, like eggs, so it's not necessarily triggered by high fat or sugar food for me... pretty much a little while after I eat I start to get sick to my stomach, hot flashes, cramps, and diarrhea... I learned not to eat anything I haven't had before if I don't have access to the restroom. Once I go to the restroom ( sometimes few times) I am ok after that. Just feels like bad case of runs lol it's not fun and I try to avoid foods that make me dump... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Band to RNY 12/6....scale hasn't moved

The scale will move... I had complications with my revision so I didn't lose anything for a month because of all of the IVs etc. just concentrate on doing what you need to do and to heal after surgery, the weight will come off. I am 7 months out and down 72 lbs + 15 lbs loss more before surgery. I thought I would be that person that will not lose but my dr is saying I am making great progress, I do go through stalls very often and it gets frustrating... I am learning to just concentrate on doing what I need to do and being patient, the scale moves eventually. Keep up good work! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What Gets You Going for Your Workout?

I have dogs and no fenced in yard so I have to walk them doesn't matter if I want to or not. But other than that, I just remind myself that doing weights help me gain muscles, more muscle mass better calorie burn at rest. As for cardio, I agree with others that's it's better to have a purspose, I try to bike to the gym do weights and bike back or do errands with bike instead of car as much as possible, or train for 5K

    In the ER:(

2 weeks post op, suspect seroma under one of my incisions. It's hard and building, more painful and warm might be infected since I have a mild fever even though the scar itself healed well. After talking to dr on call when to get it checked out. Prayers are appreciated please, I am still emotional and chicken when it comes to stuff like this. Thanks all!
  15. I had my band removed and I developed swelling where the port was... I was first misdiagnosed with seroma which is fluid buildup in the empty space where port was but after reviewing cat scan it showed that it was 7cm Abcess so they had to open up and drain it. Hopefully it is not the case for you, do you have any pain or fever? I felt extremely sick and had low grade fever before we found out what I had.

    Omg! Omg! TMI alert!

So I am 5 days post op... You know how they say to keep walking and keep passing gas... Well I went to Lowes with my husband today after finally starting to feel better and figured I could use a walk... Well I passed gas at Lowes after about 20 min of walking and unfortunately it wasn't gas... I apparently had my first BM and I started my period since this body is all confused and shocked after surgery. I mean it was bad.... on the way to the restroom I started to leave black gross trail .... Sooo embarrassing! How come people don't talk about this lol others must know this can happen lol Good thing we live close so my husband went home while I was in a bathroom cleaning myself up and got me change of clothes... Saved by the hubby! Still can't believe this lol I was worried that I was constipated... Wow
  19. I have had the band for 9 years and suffered with it as well... I revised to bypass (my personal choice) 2 months ago and even though I had complication, I love it. I ate chicken today and didn't have horrible "stuck" episode! It was amazing! I wish I have done his so many years ago!

Day 13- no weight loss in 3 days

I skipped the 3 weeks stall and had it on my week 5, it lasted about 2.5 weeks, today the scale moved again about 2.5 lbs

    Embrace the Stall

I stalled at week 5 post op, was stalled for about 2.5 weeks, now lost 2.5 lbs, but I could still see I was losing inches. It was hard not to see the scale move at that time but all I could do just stick to the plan.
  24. Hi @@Debbi1025 I can really relate to you... I had my lap band since 2008 and same thing. My hunger was horrible... I finally revised to bypass on May 13th, and although I have had complication after surgery, I am much happier now. For the first month or so I had no appetite at all, it was very weird.. Now I get hungry when it's time to eat, as long as I eat my high Protein food I am satisfied with about half cup of food. Sometimes I will have a small snack. So far I am down 33 lbs post op, it's not as fast as some other people are losing but it's still going in the right direction and I will take that ! Just remember surgery sleeve or bypass is a tool to help us but you still have to follow plan and change your eating habits.
