    Difference?

Looks like your top is looser
  2. I had my surgery on 13th (revision to bypass and gallbladder removal), they gave me "happy juice" in my IV before taking me to the OR, everything was a breeze from there. Actually think that my surgery day was the easiest of the recovery. When I woke up in recovery they had my pain button set up and I used that thing as soon as I felt any pain, I think I was allowed twice per hour. Once I passed my upper GI the next morning I was starting on liquids... So I ordered few things to try what will go down... chicken broth was so bland and gross, I didn't want it... So I stuck to the beef broth and caffein free hot tea. It was painful for me to drink cold so I just kept sipping on warm drinks while at the hospital. Not sure if every hospital does this but they gave me this Bari bear to hold on my belly when I would try to get up it was very helpful, I even use it right now at home still when I have some discomfort. The gas pain was bad for me, I was told to walk walk walk and that's what I did, all the nurses new that I probably did the most walking but the only way I could actually release that gas after few days is by sitting on the recliner in the room and having my legs bent, plus being in bed so much was hurting my back so it was a nice alternative. Liquid pain meds are not the best tasting but you get used to it. You will do great! It gets better everyday!

    In My Hospital Bag

You could probably leave a blanket at home. They had plenty those warm ones from the oven whenever I needed one and actually looking back I felt my room had perfect temperature, I was very comfortable. They gave me socks, towels and everything for taking the shower, also they had this leave in shampoo and conditioner that you can use to refresh your hair. I was in hospital for 4 days so it was nice and comforting as they hear that cap up. I did use chap stick a lot. I have also brought with me change of clothes my pjs and a robe but ended up not using it, didn't really care, just had two gowns on so I can go walk halls and not flash everyone. Looks like you are are prepared
  4. That's good! I am 7 days out, I had hard time drinking but I've have (3 in one surgeries) so I had a lot more swelling. In the beginning I had a hard time with drinking so I did only warm drinks because I could tolerate but only tiny sips... Today I am doing better, able to drink room temp Water but still smaller sips, it's really hard to get all water in this way, but in working on it. I think it's great you can drink with no prob!

Anyone not telling anyone about their surgery?

I only told couple close people and no one at work. At work they knew I am taking medical leave to take care of few medical issues and that's it. I did have gallbladder removal with my bypass so I can just say I had to change the way I eat because of that, low fat, low carbs low and no sugar... Plus they have seen me try to lose weight before so I don't think it's going to be too crazy when I go back to work, but I do have some very nousy people I work with that are just too much, that's why I chose not to tell.

    Surgery Day!

Hi all, It's been a week since surgery... I am doing much better, finally able to tolerate Water that is room temperature, before I was getting pain with anything that wasn't warm, which I am excited about because I can keep sipping and getting my water intake up. I got my drain and stitches out but still have the strips on. Went for a about 30-45 min walk with doggies and hubby today, got pretty tired so nap is definitely about to happen. That's one thing is that I don't have energy but it will come. So far I am tolerating everything l ( the only thing I had yesterday was Mexican tortilla broth) and I didn't even think about this before I had it, but had some discomfort after it and I think it's because it has pepper at some point... I am supposed to stay away from pepper for a while. 5.9 lbs down since surgery.... I will definitely be a slow loser but I will still to what I need to do and hopefully get there.

    Surgery Day!

In the hospital, got my IV in and all set waiting for the doc to come... Half an hour to go till surgery... Still nervous, but trying not to back out... Hopefully in few hours it will be history and I can just start healing... Keep me in prayers please!
  8. This is my surgeons guidance for food progression. It seems should be 4-5 meals per day 1/4 to 1/2 cups per meal as tolerated. Right now I am tolerating 1/4 cup (I am on. Full liquids), sometimes I measure 1/2 just in case but ending not finishing because I stop and think if I feel satisfied or not.

    2 days out and HUNGRY!

@@RouxDude Are you sure it's your actual physical hunger or your head hunger ? I had horrible horrible appetite before surgery, had mine on 5/13 and have not been hungry yet, seems I spend all day sipping on liquids to get my requirements in that I don't even have enough room to eat more than 1/4 of food per sitting. How many times a day do you eat? I mean don't get me wrong, when my husband made himself burgers for lunch, they smelled amazing but I knew it's not on my plan so I just kept reminding myself what I am doing and why, helps with the head hunger.

    One week away.

Is your daughter overweight? To me it seems like this is selfishness or jealousy of her feeling this way. I understand worrying about someone but staying the way you are is not any safer either. This is your chance, if you don't take it, you will not know!I am 5 days post op, I was terrified but on my road to recovery and new me!

What the F**K Up with the Constipation!

Try drinking a bit of watered down prune juice... It should help
  13. I was one of those that jumped on band wagon 9 years ago because I was terrified of going with RNY. After my hopes have failed while having issues with the band, I didn't even lose 50% of my excess weight. After much deliberation and researching I decided I had to do something about it. So this time I ended up complicating my surgery even more since I was doing band removal, bypass and gallbladder removal but I had to take the chance... I had my surgery 5 days ago, I have new hope for the future and doing my portion of it. The reason why I went with bypass is I am prone to gerd, I have at least 125 lbs to lose, and I have also read about a lot of sleeve to bypass revisions and didn't want to take my chances. Recovery has been hard for me, I won't deny it, but today I am so much better already.

    Leak frustration

@ Oh no! So sorry to hear that, how scary! Did they do upper GI after surgery on you and the leak wasn't there at that time? How bad was your temp? Do you have a lot of pain? And signs of collapsed lung? Would like to know what I can watch out for. Hope it gets resolved on its own quickly so you can feel better!

    Omg! Omg! TMI alert!

Lol ok so I had a sample new "depends" I got in the mail one time as I was getting nervous about my urgency issues a while back... I decided to try them out today after this incident because I need to get the rest of this gas out because I am having lots of pains and bloating with it and I am not doing so well in the bathroom lol so I am not taking chances... Bring it on, Gas!

    Omg! Omg! TMI alert!

True, However since I didn't know I had diarrhea, usually even before surgery I knew this could happen if I had diarrhea, but I thought I had constipation since I was a late bloomer within gas passing at the hospital etc. so definitely caught me off guard lol

Thanks, that makes it easier The problem right now I have is that I get discomfort with cold drinks but warm in small sips are ok, so I am trying to drink more warm until I am all healed and the swelling goes away and can tolerate more cold drinks.

Hunger? Does it go away with RNY?

I am only 5 days post op to RNY, and I have no hunger at all, not even head hunger. Before surgery I had lap band and my hunger was sooo out of control it was horrible. So far so good!

Oh and I got all my protein in yesterday, but water not even close... Really working on it, I know how important it is to not get dehydrated but with my tiny little sips of warm water I feel like I can't get all that in. If I am on full liquids right now do I count fluids for my meals as well towards my fluids/water intake?

All of it was LoL lol can't believe it happened to me, I feel like now I have to go everywhere with change of clothes just in case lol and yes definitely not constipated lol Whatever I was wearing went straight into trash can, glad my hubby is a trooper and worked fast to get me change of clothes. Guess now every time I will need to pass gas will have to go to bathroom just to be safe.

    Surgery Day!

Post op day 5: Doing much better today, drain output is looking better and better everyday, I seem to be able to go longer without the pain meds, had really bad gas pains yesterday, hoping to have BM so I can feel even better. Follow up with surgeon tomorrow, might be removing the drain, just keep on working on my protein intake and fluids... I realized that my sips have to be even smaller then what I was already thinking small... Definitely something to get used to.

    Surgery Day!

I think you will be fine. Let some of your friends know that you might need their help on certain days. One think that I got that is helpful is the clasp thingy for picking things up when I drop them because it's hard to bend down lol it's silly but it's helpful.
