Hi all, I had my surgery on 13th. Still take my pain meds, not as often but I still need them for the incisions where I had my lap band port removed lots of pain when moving around. Struggling with water intake as well, found out the cause of my pain after drinking is that somehow I swallow air and it creates air bubble inside which gives me pain, really slows down my water intake and not sure how to make that stop. I am following all instructions by my dr and hoping once swelling goes away this issue will go away as well. They told me I am seem to be healing slower than most so will see how it goes when I start blended food on Friday hopefully I will be able to tolerate it.

@@Mike Dumas Welcome and congratulations on making a decision to change your life! Do you have surgery date yet?

I am sorry you felt that way, I wouldn't take a it personally. If you were at our church I am sure that would not be the case, we have such great warm welcoming people. Don't let that stop you from going to church, just need to find the right place for you

I got my period few days after surgery even though I had one the week before surgery. When I asked my dr they said that happens. I am only 9 days out so I don't know how my next one will be but I would think it's because your body has gone under so much stress with surgery it will probably take a while to get back on track.

Food getting stuck... for hours!
UsernameTaken replied to jccanada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah I am used to eating that way since I had the band for 9 years. I knew we still have to do that with bypass, I guess I didn't know they also call it stuck with bypass. -

Ok, I had no idea food can get stuck also with bypass... I had band and that was happening to me a lot... I just had to walk around, maybe with my arms up, unbutton my bra, spit the slime and wait for it to pass. I am just revised to bypass so haven't had food yet for it to get stuck but that's definitely not a good feeling. Hope you feel better -
Hope they approve, glad you are fighting it!

True but it still says 3 months prior to surgery date right?

Hi all, I am 8 days post op, full liquid diet... I think i might be lactose intolerant now... I am allowed to have low fat creamy strained Soups and I have noticed that a while after I have it I get this bloating feeling with cramps pain. For those that have become lactose intolerant after surgery, what were your symptoms? I am not that big on dairy products I don't think I would miss it too much but still wish I would be able to have cheese at some time in my life. Thanks!

Hi, looks like your insurance is BCBS IL Federal, (mine is basic) is that correct? I have the same insurance and yes they do require 3 mon diet before the surgery. I had to do it. See the pic (from their benefits brochure online) this was from Jan 1 2016. Is it possible you make have a looked at the requirements of different BCBS of Il?

Ok so I haven't had any dairy today but still got some of this weird feeling in my stomach as if it's trapped gas in there that just won't leave that place. Very uncomfortable, I take gas x strip and feel better but as soon as I drink it comes back... It will take a while to get to know this new body of mine....

Hard time drinking water?
UsernameTaken replied to mmherring's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have hard time drinking cold drinks, I have to have warm... Unfortunately not my preference but that's the only way I can get my liquids in, so I try to stick to herbal decaf teas, I can tolerate protidiet water flavoring but crystal light even diluted didn't taste good to me, I haven't tried all different flavors yet. Hope your nausea goes away, it's not s good feeling. -
Pre- op diet: shakes are so horrible
UsernameTaken replied to jersey0601's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How much more do you have on this diet? I know it's hard, I am on week 4 of liquid diet now (2 pre op) and now 2nd post op it's definitely easier post op, but hang in there, it will benefit you during your surgery. -
Yup I sure did. That morning I was so emotional I cried... They are like drink more of this sudd, bigger chunks... I am like I'm supposed to sip lol then they lay me down and tell me to move to one side and to another, really? After having abdominal surgery? They made it seem like it was such a simple task... So glad when it was over. And I think I got rid of it all by day 6-7th. That stuff was weird, it was like just black residue that wouldn't flush lol

@@SweetPeas, Yep that's what I thought at first as well, but yesterday did process of elimination and it seems I got worse after having creamy Soup. I think I was somewhat ok after having Kefir, @@ocgirl15, does that not have lactose? Sorry for stupid question... Just trying to think if it's somehow different. I am going to try and get lactose free milk today it's on my approved list and see what happens. Thank you for the help:)

UsernameTaken replied to Katrinakit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow only shakes? I am on full liquids but can have low fat strained creamy Soups and broths I've been having injury Soup and that helps to get a break from the shakes -
Pre- op diet: shakes are so horrible
UsernameTaken replied to jersey0601's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@jersey0601 I also used premier protein shakes, I bought case of vanilla but then would change it up at home. I would put one shake in blender, half banana, 2 tbs of PB2 and some ice and blend it. It was delicious. You can add all kinds of flavors, I would also blend it with handful of frozen strawberries or sugar free coffee syrups etc. -
Oh I know exactly what you are talking about... That's the same diarrhea I had an accident with for my first BM, lol thought it was going to be gas but it wasn't, I had a post on it.Some nasty stuff, I am not aware of receiving any iron infusion, I think it's just part of the gas and residue or something from surgery. Mine finally went away, I am 8 days post op.

Hmm I am 8 days out... Still have pain not as much but I do... Whenever I get up I feel my insides are "rearranging" or going in place or some thing lol weird but doesn't really bother me. If you don't have pain I don't think you should worry about it. I was parried today because two of my incisions have redness next to them and feels like burning up, and had a mild grade fever, called the dr and they were not too concerned, said most likely it's irritation from steristrips so we will see tomorrow.

Congratulations! I just had mine on May 13th:)

For those that eat beans, you don't get discomfort or bloating after it?

Very few calories.. Stalled weight loss, and the not full feeling
UsernameTaken replied to Lisa1996's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had my surgery may 13, so I am still on liquids but I can tell when I get full... They way it was described to me before by nutritionist is that you measure your portion and pay attention, if you feel like you are starting to question if you want the next bite (in my case a spoon) a lot of times that extra bite or spoon may be too much. I have had to leave some of my food behind few times since I can only do about 1/4 cup per meal right now, maybe it will be different when I start real foods. I think you are doing a great job, at my week follow up I was down 5.9 since surgery it's not that much compared to some other people but it's still going the right way and I was told not to expect much weight loss in the first 2 weeks anyways because of all swelling and healing. Keep it up, it will come!
