How do you flavor your water?

Thank you, I forgot about infusing.. I used to infuse water with sliced orange, cucumber and mint... Was very refreshing... I should try that again. Thanks for reminding me!

    Um...where is my appetite?

@@sassyfrass23 I know what you mean, although I am only 2 weeks post op, I have no hunger which I could never even imagine before... Before surgery my hunger was so horrible, I mean it was just out of control... I am greatful I am not hungry but yes it makes it hard to intake the Protein and Water to meet the goal. I feel like I can finally relate to "eat to live not live to eat" I went somewhere yesterday where they brought fresh doughnuts and before surgery I would be fighting the temptation... Now I could care less... Since everything has been extra sweet to me after surgery just the thought of eating a doughnut was starting to make me nauseous... It's incredible

6 Months Post Op & so happy

Great job! I just had my surgery almost 2 weeks ago and some of those thoughts are creeping in my mind too as to why did I do this to myself (I am a slow healer) so it's tough right now... But I am just trying to look forward, I know one of these days I will be happy and feel better. You look great!

Post op sharp pulling pain 1 week out

For sure! I have been bugging them plenty I think lol I am not taking chances... Just sent another message to them as well. I think with me the hardest part is not the bypass or the gallbladder it's the area where lap band port was because it was it was down in the muscle and was a lot of scar tissue so they had to dig around pretty good there... Couple of hours ago I got up and it was stinging and burning so much I ended up just bursting in tears... And then other times it's not as bad... Just really want to feel good already...
  6. Hi all, So I am 12 days post op and I am grumpy and irritated as one can be. I don't know if it's the pain or lack of food but I am not being myself and emotional a lot. I guess my husband got tired of taking care of me and the doggies by now (I can tell by his body language, I am usually so independent that I guess he didn't expect the recovery to take that long) and thinks that I am doing well enough that I don't need help anymore, as much as I would want to be back to my normal self I am not even close to being there, my energy is not there at all, I have no appetite (which is good and bad because it makes hard getting water and protein down - I never thought I would not be hungry! I think my belly is still swollen.l when does that go away? I just want to start feeling well already... I am supposed to go back to work on Tuesday and I am so nervous. Have you noticed more energy on blended foods?

    Grumpy and irritated...

Thank you, working on the water intake... I think today might be the first time I meet my water goal... I had very hard time drinking, seems things are getting a bit better. Yes definitely puppy therapy here is a must Thank you for encouragement
  9. I had RNY, but I also had my gallbladder removed at the same time. We found out I had bunch of gallstones when I did abdominal ultra sound and It bothered me as well, they said that it will need to be removed because usually after weight loss a lot of patients will need to have their gallbladder removed at some point anyways.

Btw, heating pad helps a lot for gas pain in shoulder and other areas, I used so many of those ready heated pads while in hospital.

    Grumpy and irritated...

So you had to do only 10 days of liquid diet post op? I am on my 2nd starting blended on Friday. Will have to do some shopping tomorrow. I have noticed that mornings are harder for me for some reason, I got tramadol to take for pain but I have to crush it and mix it into something and it tastes so bitter ugh. Can't wait for the day I dot. Have this pain anymore. Yeah my hubby is not used to me being sick, he is a total baby when he has a cold or a flu but here I am after major surgery should be back on my feet already it seems... I am glad I am not the only grumpy one of there, the thing is that I am not hungry, which is good but I am not used to this... I took FML so I don't have to use my vacation. But all my sick time is being used up.

Post op sharp pulling pain 1 week out

I had a band removal, gallbladder removal and bypass in one surgery, I have lots of pain still when I get up or sit down/lay down, try to turn, but I think it's mostly because of the muscle pain from where the port was because they had to do a lot of digging around because of the scar tissue. Where is your pain? Most of my pain is on my left side rib to the lower abs but that is also where my port was...

    May 24 Surgery Day

After my surgery I walked so much I was getting to know other patients in the rooms and well their family lol because I kept trying to get rid of the gas pain... It seems it didn't get better until I actually started passing gas, and the only thing that worked is I would sit on a recliner with my legs bent on the foot rest and that did the trick, and beef broth was actually very comforting for me because jellos and Popsicles where too sweet and chicken broth was nasty. They actually didn't want me to leave hospital until I started to pass gas and I actually told them one day that I wasn't ready to go home yet, so just speak up depending on how you feel, don't rush things... When I got home it was harder because I didn't have handles on the bed or a way to raise it up or down to help me get up, so it was actually easier for me in the hospital. Hope you all get better and the gas pains go away!

    May bypass group!

I am 4 days post op, so no IV. I'll have to find some bone broth. I am usually sitting already when I go to stand up.Hope you feel better!

    May bypass group!

@@ChooChi73 Bone broth usually has more protein in it. When you are laying down and want to get up Togo for a walk, sit up first, sit for about 5 min then get up might help not to be so light headed. Do they still have you on IV?
  20. Looks like you are most likely swallowing air when you drink, I am dealing with the same thing except I get pain as well when j get this air bubble inside. Try taking smaller sips and sit up when you drink. I burp a lot when this happens helps to get rid of that air.

    Fun NSV

That's awesome! It's always the people that you think would be the last to notice.
  22. I have had pain after I drink (liquid diet, 10th day post op) finally spoke with my dr, we determined that apparently I swallow air when I drink which creates air bubble inside and hurts... Apparently I don't know how to drink???? I have been really paying attention to it, and even before talking to my dr was doing very small sips... I tried different bottles, different cups, spoons et. I feel like I am not able to meet my Water goal because of this and getting nervous I will get dehydrated. Have you guys experienced this? Does it go away? I know we are not supposed to use straws but I am tempted to try and see if it will help me get water in since I already get air inside... Ugh...

    May bypass group!

Thanks for sharing I felt like I was taking too much while everyone else was ok a few days out. I started my day with just Tylenol today mostly because I need to get out and about. Sadly not able to make it very far I was so tired after a trip to the post office. Sent from my SM-G920T using the BariatricPal App I know what you mean, my husband and I went out to do an errand today and I was exhausted. It's sad but I feel like the only way I can function right now pain-wise is with the liquid meds, it's such a relief when they kick in but they also put me to sleep. I am trying crushed tramadol tomorrow and see how that will work because regular liquid Tylenol didn't do much (and I had a hard time getting it down even diluted) I am glad I am not the only one as well:) I actually had a very hard time emotionally the other day because I felt like I should be feeling better by now and it seems I am not making that much progress. Goal tomorrow to really work on my water intake... I feel thirsty I really want some nice ice cold glass of watt but can't drink. The cold stuff right now and feel like warm liquids don't take care of my thirst as much... Hopefully one day soon What are you struggling with besides energy and pain?
