12 days post op no BM since day 6

Sorry you are not feeling well, most likely it's because you need to have BM. You can take milk of magnesia it was approved by my surgeon. I also did diluted 100% prune juice to help things move. Trust me even with liquids (it won't be solid by any means so be careful not to confuse it for gas if you do take something to help you to) you will have BM looks like you are constipated. You will feel so much better after you have BM !

    Seroma?

@@Daisee68 Wow that's scary! Glad you stayed on top of it. For sure we know our bodies and can definitely tell that something is not right. They gave me some antibiotics to take if I want to just in case it could be a bacterial infection (it might not do anything for it) related but I decided to wait and talk to my surgeon first tomorrow before I do anything. I just sent a note to work that I am not coming in tomorrow and will let them know once I have more info. The way I feel I need few more weeks off but because nature of my work I just can't do that but hopefully sometime this week.

    Seroma?

Did anyone develop a seroma after your surgery? How was it treated and how long did it take for it to go away?

    Seroma?

@@Daisee68 Yeah I decided that I am not going back to work tomorrow yet, they will just have to suck it up. That is the plan to call the surgeon tomorrow and find out how they want it handled... What I was reading some doctors drain it and some just let it go away on it own (which may take months) so hopefully I will find out more tomorrow. Yeah after cat scan and blood work they said its seroma. I knew I wasn't exaggerating that something is not right with that pain of mine and overall feeling.

    band revision to GB

@@Sheriberi Did you have much of pain where the port was after revision? I am 2 weeks out and that area is hard and swollen, scar itself is healed and is fine but inside is what's bothering me. Wonder how long this should last.
  11. UsernameTaken

    I'm torn..

I had the band and also was deciding between the two, I ended up going with bypass because I had heartburn issues and also didn't want to have to revise to bypass in the future of the sleeve wouldn't work for me as revisions tend to lose slower and I need to lose over 115 lbs.

@@carelabra I just take some beads in my mouth and take a sip of liquid and repeat. Or you could probably mix it in no sugar added apple sauce or yoghurt when you are allowed to have it.

    Former port location pain

@@James Marusek I hated the blood thinners as well. All my incisions are doing ok, it's the under incision muscles etc... That's the only thing that's really bothering not me. They gave me lidocaine patches but don't think they do much.

    Puréed diet after surgery..Help!

@@addouk I had my surgery on 13th and know exactly what you are going through. First day on purée food was horrible, I couldn't eat even 2 oz of food and was nauseous... Then I started to freak out on how I am going to do this and meet my Protein goals and Fluid goals. So I went back to liquids for a bit, it seems my body wasn't ready yet for purée. Yesterday I made blended hard boiled eggs with a bit of light mayo, little lactose free milk, some salt and dill and it was pretty taste although it took me forever to eat those 2 oz. I am easing into the blended food by doing one or two meals a day being blended he rest is liquids so I can meet my protein goals. It seems to be helping. As for the emotional, you are not alone, I was crying for few days straight, everything would make me cry... I started regretting the surgery, felt like I am not going to ever get better... But surprisingly the last 2 days I am a bit better, I still can't get all my liquids in so every day is a struggle and still get tired very easily but I have hope it will get better. Congrats on the 27 lbs! You just have to try different things and find what works for you. Oh I also made so pudding and added Protein powder to it so that can be a meal as well and I have had hummus with unflavored protein powder as well. Hope you get feeling better!

    May 24 Surgery Day

Nope you are not the only one... I was not on laxatives but still had that happen to me, I thought I was going to pass gas and well... It wasn't gas... Was not fun! Can't trust the farts!Yep, exactly. I'm in the bathroom yelling for my 14yr old daughter to find me clean underwear. Luckily I don't embarrass easily, but it is not fun in the least. Gonna give it the weekend and then call my doctor if it's no better. Good Thing you were home. When it happened to me we were at Lowes, I went there with hubby to do some walking... As soon as it happened I rushed to the restroom to clean myself up, hubby went home to get me clean underwear and pants... Good thing nobody noticed what happened but since then I knew I couldn't trust the farts lol

    3 more days. . . .

Congratulations on your surgery date and making the decision to change your life (again). I just had my surgery 2 weeks ago... For me it has been tough but I am taking it one day at a time. I am already down 20 lbs since surgery which is a miracle of its own and starting to feel better

  18. I have pain meds that I need to take but they are super bitter so it's hard to get them down if I mix them into something... So far I have been mixing it into yoghurt but wanted to see if there any other ideas? Also liquid Tylenol makes me gag even diluted, are there any other options?thanks!

    Emotions post op

Thank you for the kind words... Surprisingly I am not grieving the loss of food, I think I got over it on all my pre op liquid diet...right now it's hard for me to even look or smell food because I have absolutely no appetite (I never thought I would complain about this) but it makes it hard to get my requires Protein and liquids in. What scared me now and is making me emotional is if I will ever will be able to eat what I need to eat so I don't become malnourished and dehydrated... These are the things that are really making me nervous right now plus being exhausted and weak all the time... I am doing a bit better today, I decided not to push blended food yet just because I am due for it (also this was recommended by my dr) so I feel like I am not stressing out about it as much today. I was able to get a pedi, do a load of laundry, go to grocery store and do dishes, now I am resting. Hope everyday I will feel better. I put on pair of jeans I wore before surgery, they were not tight before, but they are nice and baggy now so that was nice to see. I plan to go through my closet my tomorrow and check my clothes for what I can wear right now, hopefully I will have energy to do that.
  21. I am trying to find better way to get my water down, what are your favorite water flavorings?

1st day blended - low grade fever

I decided I am going back to liquids for a bit longer... Kept getting nauseous today on blended... Dr office said most likely I am not ready yet... Man this whole thing not having appetite is harder than I have ever imagined...
  24. Hi all, I started the blended food today, had 2 meals one 2 oz and the other about 1.5 oz then I couldn't finish. Been working on my Water intake in between meals however this afternoon I haven't bee feeling all that great so I checked my fever and it was at 99.9. My discharge instructions said to call the dr if it's at 101... Any ideas? I have been on liquid diet for 2 weeks post op... There was no leak after surgery. Thanks!

    Drainage tube

Just look at it this way, it's supposed to speed up your healing by taking that stuff out of your body directly. Honestly, don't stress about it. After surgery you will be so busy with walking, getting rid of gas and sipping that I think the drain be the least of your worries.
