  1. I am having a revision, but mine is approved by my ins. I started out the same way, just wanted to get the band out but I figured well might as well see if they will approve revision as well. Hope it will go well, the closer it gets to it the more nervous I get.
  2. Yeah that's definitely lots of $ So are you doing revision at the same time or just removal?
  3. It really depend on insurance, but I would think since they approved the removal and it would be surgical procedure so I would expect anesthesiologist would be covered, you would most likely have to pay for copay for surgeon, anesthesiologist, hospital (at least this is what I am expecting to pay) I really like care credit, you can do 18 months free financing which is awesome.

Getting ready for surgery need your inputs...

Thank you for the feedback! I checked unjury.com but didn't see Water flavors, where is it? Btw, I was reading hospital paperwork, it said I won't have any water or ice until I have upper GI and it everything shows ok I will start liquid diet. Have you all had upper GI the day after surgery and how did it go? I would think this would be really uncomfortable and painful maybe since everything is so fresh...
  5. My surgery is May 13, i know it's still far away but I am starting get ready because my schedule is so busy and would like to stock op on few things I will need after surgery at home. Could you please share what was useful to have in the hospital and at home first couple of weeks after surgery, food wise, Protein wise, for comfort heating pads or anything else. Also question, I've read somewhere that after bypass you are not allowed to drink through a straw or chew gum... Is this true? If so why is that? I don't mean initially after surgery, it actually talked about ever... Thanks everyone!

@@secondchance_tx thank you:) keep us update on your progress as well and how the surgery goes. This is definitely a good place to talk to others going through same issues. Did you have to do a lot of pre op clearances?

    Failure

Aww, sounds like you went through a lot a do understand your fears. I had similar experience and same fear of failing at bypass as well. I am revising on May 13, scared to death that I won't be able to lose and if I do I won't be able to maintain it... Only couple of people know about it because I am too embarrassed that I'm going to fail at this too. I am determined to do everything I have to do, but knowing my body, that even if I do everything right still have hard time losing... Sure hope this will not be the case Wishing you all the best on your new beginning, eventfree surgery and great success with revision and maintenance
  10. I am having revision in 5 weeks, I have about 130 to lose but I am concerned about it as well because I keep reading that people don't lose much after revision and way slower. I have asked my surgeon and psychiatrist this and they said that their revision patients still lose great amount of weight just like other patients. Guess the key is to follow the rules, put in the work and keep the follow up appointments to be accountable. I believe we both can do this!

    Love it or hate it?

Hate.... Will be parting with it in 5 weeks (after having it for 9 years)

    Paperwork submitted to Insurance!

I had to have diagnosis of morbid obesity for 2 years prior to surgery, do 3 month supervised diet with dietitian visits ( it was actually 4 visits since first visit didn't count as a month), psych eval, prove that I complied with post op diet and exercise from previous surgery, prove that I have not been treated for controlled substance abuse within a year and that I don't consume alcohol in excess, I think that's about it. Now I have bunch of appointments to go to In the next 4 weeks for surgery clearances. Have to do nutrition class to learn how to eat post op, then abdominal ultra sound, meet with pulmonologist and see if they need anymore tests, then blood work, ekg at the hospital 2 weeks before surgery, get surgery clearance after the results are available from my primary care dr and then pre op apt with surgeon... Lots to get done, I am nervous if I will have enough time to get blood work and labs sent to my primary care dr for him to give me clearance ( which has to be before I see surgeon) ugh... I am really trying to keep the date as I am already planning around it.

    Paperwork submitted to Insurance!

I have BCBS of il too, but mine is federal I think it took about 10 days. My surgeons office followed up with insurance and called me telling me I was approved. I know the feeling, waiting really is difficult. Hope you will get approval soon!

    Lap band - heartburn

So I had my lap and emptied last Thursday and no heartburn since... Haven't even had to take meds... Coincidence? I think not! My surgeon actually didn't think it was the cause of my heartburn because I didn't have much in my band but I think it is because I didn't change anything in my routine.

    It's happening!

I just got a call from surgeons office, my revision is approved! They will be giving me a call to set up surgery date pending pre surgical clearances! Such awesome news!

    It's happening!

@Heatherberg0907 I did all insurance requirements before we could submit as well, now I just going to have to do pre op clearances like nutrition class and pulmonologist (and whatever else he will request) Thank you though, it really was a nice surprise today.
  24. @@marimar66 You mentioned you are losing at a constant rate... What does that look like number wise?
  25. @@Stacylynn1982 Yaaay for another one of us:) what are the symptoms that you have of possible erosion? I am concerned about this as well because my surgeon said if I have erosion he would remove the band I would have to heal then do the bypass and I want to do both in one which is what he normally does. He said that I don't have signs of erosion so he is not worried but I am still concerned that i am going to wake up and find out they didn't do revision
