Valentine's Day Weight Loss Challenge
liannatx replied to vsgSarah3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
186, I also feel like I have hovered around 188-186 for weeks. I guess I need to change something up this week. -
I had "liquid in, liquid out" until I started softs and solids. It is normal.

Crunchy and sweet? I would do the apple and Peanut Butter. Or just a sliced apple. I don't like or crave sweet, so I love a sliced cucumber with ranch or just with lemon juice and salt. A pickle is good too.

I took measurments when I started. I don't check them often, but it is actually cool to see that when the scale isn't moving for some reason things are shrinking still. It is also super gratifying to see that my waist is 8 inches smaller!

My 600 Pound Life: 2016 Season
liannatx replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I love this show. I can relate enough to their struggle to feel for them, but also get frustrated when I see how easily some of them give back in to the old habits.... like someone prior said, a good cautionary tale. I find that I sometimes really blame the family members that, for whatever reasons, feed and enable and try to sabotage these people after surgery. They are the ones that need counseling to see why they prefer their loved one so unhealthy and obese... -
"My Diet is Better than Your Diet" -- random rambling...
liannatx replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
I hate where Oprah says "Let's make 2016 the year of our best body". It implies skinny and hot, which is a only bonus of being a healthy weight. Why doesn't she say "our healthiest body"? -
Do you PB or SLIME with sleeve like the lapband?
liannatx replied to IrishGermanRN's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
A lapband term for Productive Burp... it is basically vomiting. Especially common when something is too large or coarsely chewed up to pass through the band... if it cant go down, it comes up. Yep a Productive Burp. But since I did it all I find a distinction from slime or vomit. You will literally cough up a chunk of food. Nasty. The slime was insane. Could throw up that crap for a good half hour. Just clear gooey slime. Oh the love hate with the band will forever live on in my heart. LOL Oh my goodness, I know. I did it all too, daily the last year... with an unfilled band. One day it would fine, the next a glass of milk would have me sliming and eventually barfing it all up. I actually distinguished between all 3: PB, vomiting, and sliming. The jellyfish slime is by far the worst... it just goes on and on and you actually wish that whatever was causing would just come up. I was banded in 05 and had the old Inamed 4cc band, so I am just thankful that the slippage and scar tissue didn't ruin my stomach completely. I find that eating/living with the sleeve is literally complication free for me. I am SO grateful that I was able to have this surgery. -
Revision done in one or two surgeries?
liannatx replied to Jenpen197803's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
We were hoping to have it done in one surgery. Once the surgeon got inside he felt there was too much scar tissue and damage... so he only removed the band and as much scar tissue/adhesions as he could in prep for the Sleeve. After a period to heal and recover I went back for the Sleeve surgery. -
I found a good protein!

I love all the flavors of Syntrax Nectars. -
You should really call your doc's office and see what they say, especially if you get the heartburn often. I know that Zantac did not work for me, but when I switched to Omeprazole it did the trick. I was also taking it twice a day the first several months. Hope you find something that helps soon!

How far out are you, and do you take a PPI?

Was anyone else able to start Blended Diet on week 2 ?
liannatx replied to Scottyd1264's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No. I had 1 week clear liquids, 1 week full liquids, and weeks 3 and 4 were purees/soft foods. -
What a great way to have fun! I need to do something adventurous, and step out of my comfort zone, lol!

Cleaned out my closet again.
liannatx replied to Margie122's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It is so freeing to purge the closet of the things that are too big! I am also finding that a pair of black jeggings, a pair of skinny jeans, and a pair of black pants are huge wardrobe stretchers right now. You are doing great! This new year is going to be soooo good for us! -
Restriction time post recovery
liannatx replied to ElizabethO's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My teacher friend and her husband had it done on the same day, and felt it worked out perfectly for them. They also went to Mexico and said it was convenient for them to do it one trip. They were able to be on the liquids at the same time, and were on the same food progression together. She said it was great that they were able to fix things they could both have... not have to watch the other eating a 'regular' meal. There is no way to predict how one will recover after this. I am a teacher also, and I went back to work after 7 days. I do believe there are lift/weight restriction for several weeks, so I am not sure how long your husband would need to take light duties in his work. Again, some of it will also depend on how fast he bounces back. -
How wonderful! That is so beautiful, now I want to go.

I am glad it is winter, lol. I found Faded Glory jeggings at Walmart for less than $15. I like them because they are a thicker material than typical leggings... more like a stretchy jean weight material. I got black, brown, gray, wine, and just love them with boots. Leggings and boots paired with a tunic and scarf.... a wardrobe staple for me right now. I found some cute tunics on Zulily for about $20. It definitely helps to get creative. I like to shop the sale racks at less expensive stores like Catos or Ross too. I am also not willing to spend too much on a temporary wardrobe... but I have to have nice looking clothes for work.

Nervous About Starting My Purée Stage
liannatx replied to juju_91's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was able to have really moist chicken and tuna salad, just no celery in it. Refried Beans with cheese and salsa. Ricotta cheese with Pasta sauce on it. I was allowed baked Tilipia on purees. Really soft cooked cauliflower pureed with some cream cheese. I think the thinned refried beans are nice safe first puree meal choice. -
I love the Zucchini noodles, but I have been wanting to try the edamame noodles... I have heard they are good.
-
I got a passcard. I was told it was required, and they asked for them when we crossed the border.

Congratulations! Seeing that 1 on the scale is a HUGE victory!
