liannatx replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My top 3 are a a digital food scale, my food log app, and this site! -
Any teachers out there?
liannatx replied to malpal8629's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on the first Monday we were off for Spring Break, and returned to work the next Monday. I was still sore, but had no real pain... mostly I just felt tired. It was totally manageable. -
Worried about pre-op diet
liannatx replied to bsanders's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Variety is what saved me on the pre-op diet, and the liquid portion of the post op diet. Swanson Mexican tortilla broth, Mio flavored Water, Crystal Lights, Vitamin water Zero, Gatorade G2, Egg Drop Soup, Unsweet teas, flavored hot teas, etc... Syntrax Nectars were what I found to be my favorite Protein drink but the Premier Protein are also good. The first few days are the hardest, but you can do this. -
Those Swanson broths that @@Kindle mentioned were my favorite, the Mexican tortilla especially. The other flavors are good pre-op but were too spicy for me on the post op stage. I loved Egg Drop soup too.

Major complications--sleeved 12/21

Yes. Search nprcowboy..... he went through the ringer, and is still positive. -
OK Ladies, kinda embarrasing question for you all
liannatx replied to Adina's_Journey's topic in The Gals' Room
My lowest incision is 12 in from my vagina! When they told me to undress and put on the gown, I left my panties on. I asked the nurses that came to wheel me to surgery if I could leave my underwear on.... and they said "No, naked under the gown." I told them good, that I was. I woke after surgery in a fresh hospital gown and my same black panties. Maybe it is a hygiene issue, or something besides surgical, for your surgeon? Seems odd. -
Make them homemade. If you skin them they aren't as fatty, and you get more of the meat without the fat. I like to do them with a rub and cook them on the grill. Just don't succumb to the breaded fried crap ones. The homecooked ones taste better anyway.

What have I done?
liannatx replied to kristennichole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@wwboy@FrankiesGirl These two posts contain such good advise and wisdom. What THEY said! -
I don't have this, or really know anyone that does. I am wondering if you have already had surgery? How does this affect surgical procedures?

How do you know when your full?
liannatx replied to Lisa_85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first 2 months I weighed every meal/snack at 2 oz. (1/4 cup) When my capacity or satisfied level got a little greater I weighed stuff to 2.5 oz. After the first few months I could more easily gauge when to stop... I am at 10 months and still cant eat more than 3.5 to 4 oz per meal of solid meat and veggies, a little more of yogurt or softer foods. I know for a fact that if I burp, one single burp, that I am done. If take even one or two little bites after that I end up being slightly uncomfortable or downright overly full. I actually love that little burp by now.... I will take a bite and still be chewing and up comes this little burp and I tell my DH "Well, I guess I am done". He likes it too, lol, because he usually eats my leftovers. He is blessed with the metabolism to eat seconds, lucky guy. -
That is great! You should start feeling daily now... those first days are the toughest.

Any teens you got the sleeve?
liannatx replied to bg123's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Your younger age will give you the best chance of your skin bouncing back, and it will help also that you are starting at a lowerish BMI. One thing I have learned though, is that if you have stretch marks localized in one area that may be the place that doesn't have much elasticity left. My bet is that you will be very happy with your results! -
Protein shake-need help!
liannatx replied to 4shiggles's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Syntrax Nectars in any of the fruit flavors... and mix it with Water. It has extremely good nutrition stats too: 24 g Protein, 100 calories, 0 carbs, and 0 sugar. It is also whey Protein Isolate, which is what is recommended for us. -
I use the cooked weight, just because that is what I weigh and then eat. Now I am curious too if it matters.

Congrats! 140 lbs lost.... you are doing amazing!

At the Crossroads - revision?
liannatx replied to Snufflegus's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I agree with @@James Marusek that you should not say that the sleeve didn't work. You have in fact proven that WLS will work, and that you can follow a plan and have success with it. With the amount you still want to lose it seems that a bariatric surgeon would agree that the malabsorption aspect of the RNY might be the boost you need to lose to an even healthier weight. Be positive and be proud of your success so far. -
Haven't seen it... thanks for the link.

My 600 Pound Life: 2016 Season
liannatx replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I actually think I would be pissed and depressed if I went through the multiple surgeries and recovery... and ended up with those results. I know 3 ladies that have Tummy tucks, and 2 that have had breastlift/augmentation. All of them have far superior results than what I see on the show. -
TMI Question...that may not make sense!
liannatx replied to LeslesLosingIt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It certainly could be. I used to get nausea from too much drainage before my surgery. It hasn't happened since, but it makes sense that it could... the drainage sure leaves my throat raw and irritated. -
I'm at the soft food & purée stage at 3 weeks, but I'm terrified to try an egg!
liannatx replied to theladyslipper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have never dumped on anything. I had no problems with an egg once I was on softer solids. -
Share your band to sleeve revision success story!
liannatx replied to nicksmommy's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
March will be a year. I am losing at a turtle pace, but I did with the band too. I am actually losing a little faster than with the band... which is surprising, because I am 10 years older and menopausal now. It took me 18 months to reach goal with the band. -
Share your band to sleeve revision success story!
liannatx replied to nicksmommy's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am a revision. I was banded for 9 years... but it was empty for the last several years due to repeated slips and scar tissue. I am having success with the Sleeve. I am losing slowly, but it is coming off. I have lost 65 lbs, which puts me exactly at 65% to goal. I have no regrets in choosing Sleeve. -
Nothing like that for me.... let us know what they find.

I also like the black and white one.... in fact, I want it!
