I must say that I was banded in Monterrey and know the hospital and doctors that CandySmootch is mentioning. The hospital is American owned and TOP NOTCH. If I have a TT when I am at goal I fully intend to go to Monterrey again. (unless my insurance will cover it, then it would be more practical to have it done and paid for here) I also have been wondering about the whole process of having a TT done. I am surprised that no one posts any info here.

Probably from sleeping on your stomach. I sleep fine on my right side but still find it a little uncomfortable on my left side. I havent even tried my stomach yet!

I just posted this same question on the support board a few days ago, you might want to go read those replies also. I got my first fill today and I am not quite 5 weeks post op. My surgeon says anytime after 4 weeks. I have the 9.75cm 4cc capacity Inamed band and he put in 1 cc today. I only went ahead and got my fill because I had little or no restriction. I have eaten brisket, turkey, steak, etc... with no problems (of course, they were tiny bites chewed very well). If I felt like I had some restriction I would have waited on the fill.

Loosing weight over the Holidays
liannatx replied to Tod Campbell's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow, 40 lbs is excellent! Thanks for the reminder not to get discouraged if loss halt or slows. -
Okay, I went ahead and got my fill. It was quick and painless. I asked him to make it a conservative one and he did 1cc. I was a little scared to get that much of a fill since I had such extreme swelling at surgery time. Swollen completely shut for 2 days, thank god for the i.v. I must be a sweller (did i make that word up?) because now I can take a drink of cold water and feel it sit there and slowly drain into my stomach. I might go for 2 days of liquids if I can stand it. I am glad he didnt talk me into 1.5 ccs.

I am wondering how soon people get their first fill. My doctor said I could get my first fill Monday, and that will be 3 days shy of 5 weeks for me. I have been back at work since 7 days after banding and have felt great. However, I have no restriction at all right now...I can eat brisket, breads, rice, chicken, etc... However, I thought 6 weeks was the soonest for the first fill. Would that week really make no difference? or should I wait? I absolutely trust my doctor, I am just curious if anyone else got their first fill at 5 weeks.

I have one. In the bottom right corner it says "this person can only eat small portions of food at a time (half a cup or 3 to 4 oz)". I doubt I will ever use it, but it also has some medical info on it so I stuck it my wallet anyway.

Just wanted to add my prayers and positive vibes to those all being sent.

Shari Lou, My jeans arent bothering since they are a little looser now, but it did take me about 2 weeks to wear them without that pressure and discomfort. I couldnt even wear them at all the first week or two due to the bloating and swelling. My dress clothes were never a problem, I had to buy all new pants/skirts in August (in a bigger size) for this school year and they werent tight at all. Hang in there, already you are 20 lbs down....they will be falling off soon! Paula, just curious...why would all bandsters have swollen tummies no matter how much weight they lost?
-
Thank goodness they figured out what it was so you can start treating it and get better. Hope it resolves itself with some treatment.

Where are the happy bandsters?

I am a newly banded one, but also a happy one! -
Personally, I will drink right up to my first bite of food, I have little restriction and the water just goes strait through. However, I always wait about an hour after a meal to drink anything else.
-
Hmmmmm......I was also told not to ever drink with a straw (too much air).......only things that had a consistency that would GO THROUGH a straw.
-
Wow........now I am doubting whether I should get my fill already...........I will let you know if I do.
-
Congratulations! You must be on cloud 9 right about now!

I was also told to stick with Tylenol, so I did the childrens liquid suspension and took a dose every 4 hours. I didnt have much pain except for the gas, and Gas-X and walking are all that really help that. As for the constipation, I was spared that, but have heard that adding some metamucil can relieve that and have also seen recommendations for glycerin suppositories. Hope you feel better soon!

Congratulations on ALL your wonderful news!

I'm right there with yall! I just had one slice turkey, a little stuffing, cranberry, and maybe 2 tbs. of greenbean casserole. Someone commented "is that all your getting" so I said Oh I plan on getting seconds......knowing that I wouldnt be having seconds THIS year!! Nobody ever noticed that it was still my same plate I was picking at as they were finishing seconds and thirds!

Glad to hear you are feeling better and that your doctor reassured you that the pnuemonia was in no way band-related!
-
Wow! Way to work that band, keep that positive attitude going!
-
Its great to hear that you are feeling so great so soon. I am just a month out and after the first few days I also felt really good. Congratulations on the first 14 lbs lost!!

I have insulin resistance and take 30mg of Actos. They are really small, so no problem there....possible side effect is weight gain however. I asked my doctor for Metformin, but he wants me on the Actos because it helps chlosterol. I agree on just crushing them, it is only bad tasting for a minute!
