I would think several weeks to a month or more? That large incision remains painful for weeks. I'm at week 3 and it still bothers me. However I do wear a shaper tank under my shirts, and that is actually comfortable, so I really don't know how the waist cinchers would feel. Maybe someone that has worn one will reply.

So here another noticing. I'm SUPER angry and irritated.
liannatx replied to akreese02's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you able to sleep good at night? Are you dreading going back to work tomorrow? Lingering discomfort and that deprived feeling of not being able to eat were my only real negatives. It could be a ton of little things all piled up together. Hopefully the day will go smoothly, I actually felt better going back to work and getting back in the groove of a routine. I hope your day goes smoothly tomorrow, and you shake off this irritation. -
Face moisturizer suggestions? And dry skin in general -- lotion suggestions?
liannatx replied to Elizabeth21's topic in The Gals' Room
I am a big fan of CeraVe PM for my hands (it makes hives on my cheeks, but is amazing on my hands). @@CanyonBaby convinced me it was worth getting the tub of cream... I have only been using it for a couple of days but I will admit that the slightly crepey texture that was appearing on my hands and forearms is gone. CeraVe and Bio Oil are now my favorite body moisturizers. My face is normal/oily so alternate between a retinol and Estee Lauder ANR. The combination keeps my skin pretty and balanced. -
Am I doing ok?

I think 24 lbs in 7 weeks is great! Congrats also on all those inches lost. -
@@NewgirlfromMd I noticed that mineral taste in Water also. I just kept drinking it though, and I don't taste it anymore. That is pretty odd, lol.

Finally found a protein I can tolerate

Good! I bet you will feel so much better after you get the Protein up. -
My name is Matt and I just got a gastrc sleeve done
liannatx replied to matt56's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Matthew! The best thing for that gas is to walk and get your body moving to work that gas out. GasX strips work for many people too. Hope you have a speedy easy recovery! -
I was banded in 05. I went in October last year for band to sleeve revision, and my doctor told me it was 50/50 that he would be able to do it depending on the amount of scar tissue and adhesions. Once he got in there he found the damage was extensive and just did the band removal and removed scar tissue to prepare for the Sleeve surgery. I was banded 5 months later (this month!) and surgery and recovery went very smoothly.

how long did people take off work for recovery?
liannatx replied to akreese02's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you can drive as soon as you aren't taking any pain meds. Not 100% sure, maybe someone else will chime in on that. -
I have also always been a big water drinker. I always have my insulated glass full on my desk at work, and have one that I keep full at home, a great habit that is serving me well now post-op! I am only 3 weeks post-op, but I am able drink pretty normal. It seems like Water and liquids go through pretty fast. I drink a Protein drink (mixed with water 12oz) while getting ready for work. A glass of water or 20oz Vitamin Water Zero between 8:00 and 11:00, another glass or two after lunch, and I pretty much already have my 64 oz fluids in before I even get home from work. I don't even bother tracking my Fluid intake, I know it is 80oz or more daily.

Wow, you look great! It is crazy how much the loss shows in one's face. -
Physically demanding job. Is two weeks off enough?
liannatx replied to JudyQ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you have to pick the kiddos up? That would be my only real concern. You may be able to adapt and work around anything that is uncomfortable. You could sit in a chair instead of on the floor, at least for a while. Don't pick stuff up off the floor, have a child get it for you, etc... I teach 4th and returned in a week... the bending, moving around the room, general daily stuff was fine by then. I actually felt better getting out of the house and doing something by then. It is different for each of us how fast we recover, maybe see how you feel at the end of those 2 weeks and take some sick days if necessary. -
4 days post-op and really hungry
liannatx replied to SouthernBelle69's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt hungry too, and still do. I just started on Purees and that seems to really be putting a curb on it. Hang in there, I know it seems like forever progressing through these stages. -
What protein shakes are preferred?
liannatx replied to Gr8bowler's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I like the Syntrax Nectars. I was really missing my coffee, and they have a Cappuccino flavor that is very good. -
Band out. Round 4 with insurance
liannatx replied to km30381's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I truly hope that your insurance has to pay. I also had to wait between band removal and Sleeve, my surgeon said that once he was in there my stomach was in no shape to do the revision at the same time. Those months past super fast though and the Sleeve surgery and recovery went smoothly. I will be crossing my fingers for you also. -

how long did people take off work for recovery?
liannatx replied to akreese02's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had mine done on Spring Break (3/9/15) on a Monday and returned to work the following Monday. I had stomach soreness that felt like I had done 5 million crunches, but otherwise nothing dramatic pain wise. I was very easily able to go back to work on Monday. I was able to start taking walks, outside of normal daily walking, by the end of that first week. The tiredness lingers for a few weeks but isn't debilitating if you one of the lucky ones that bounces back easily. -
How long until you are able to swallow them? You may just have to bite the bullet until then. When I had lapband in I had to do that with Metformin, which tastes HORRIBLE. I just swallowed it and brushed my teeth to get rid of the taste. I literally took it in the bathroom, chewed a few times to swallow with a sip of Water, and immediately brushed my teeth LOL! It is only nasty for a minute.

How many carbs should I be eating?
liannatx replied to Big Opie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Once you get a plan from your surgeon and nutritionist you will have some clear guidelines! I personally have requirements to keep daily carbs under 40g the first 6 months. I would think that some of those recipes are meant for maintenance on, and not to meant for the actual weight loss stage. -
I totally feel you. Everyone at work knows I had this done and I feel like they expect me to be 50 lbs down already, like I am being scrutinized daily or something! In reality, I haven't had anything but positive feedback and encouragement.

We got in the car and used the odometer to measure 1, 2, and 3 mile treks around the neighborhood. We have started walking in the evenings. We have been walking 3 miles most evenings but sometimes I want to circle around and add another mile to it. It is convenient and free, so I find it easy to incorporate for now. One of the easiest things I ever did for toning was to buy a little pair of 5lb barbells. I keep them in the living room under the edge of the couch and any time I find myself sitting on my butt watching TV I get them and do butterflies and exercises for my arm and pec muscles. I can actually tell a difference in my upper arms, biceps, and shoulders from doing this. I have several different sets of exercises I do, and do multiple reps.

Yay! That is just around the corner!

Anything pureed or naturally soft like refried Beans. I had some zuchinni with Pasta sauce last night and it was great! Your surgeon or Nut should give you a list of ideas, but some common ones I see are pureed: tuna salad, hummus, refried beans, soft scrambled egg, ricotta bake, pureed veggies.
