Congrats! I felt horrid the first 2 days, and it has been smooth sailing since! -
HAD SURGERY 3/31/15
liannatx replied to Butterfly85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@vida81 I didn't have one for 4-5 days, and then it was followed by 2 days of diarrhea. Everything has been back on track since then. Your body doesn't have much bulk in it right now to form a BM. -
Food boredom......any ideas please?
liannatx replied to frankie152's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really like the chicken salad, tuna salad, and cottage cheese. I have one of those 3 almost everday for lunch. I haven't tried a scrambled egg yet, but I know that most people find them very yummy at this stage. I am allowed baked fish on mushie stage, and we cooked some Tilipia with lemon pepper... it might just be my favorite so far. It was so good! I find the Protein heavy foods are much more filling and satisfying, I try to avoid anything with many carbs. -
Yep, I drank so much flavored Water I spent half my day in the restroom, lol! Those little packets of Instant Lipton Cream of chicken soup were my saving grace on full liquids... Make it with 4 oz of water and add a scoop of unflavored Protein powder. I also got egg drop Soup from a local restaurant.... very satisfying. If it is any consolation, it gets dramatically better when you get to purees/soft foods, that is when my hunger stopped.

I used a little ground turkey pureed and added to Pasta sauce, pour on top of some ricotta cheese and it is wonderful! The ground turkey and ricotta cheese are nice healthy Protein boost too.

Reversal for gastric sleeve?
liannatx replied to Gladys62's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really hope you turn the corner now with a new doc and the addition of acid blockers. I forgot to take mine one day and when I drank my Protein drink it made me feel so ill, I eventually spit up/threw up a couple of mouthfuls of what looked like cottage cheese. I swear the acid in my stomach had curdled it. I never forget to take them now!!! I hope that your problem is just stomach acid, because that will be easily remedied with the PPIs. -
Question on returning to work after surgery

I went back on day 7. I was tired, but not in pain. I was glad to get dressed and get out of the house : ) -
4 days post op and major diarrhea
liannatx replied to mandyq1985's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had it day 5 post op, it lasted a few days... and then it stopped. I have read many many posts that explain it as "liquid in, liquid out". I didn't take anything for it, it just stopped on its own. Actually it stopped for me when I started my fuller liquids on day 7, not sure if there is a correlation there or not. -
Not losing anything? ?
liannatx replied to tnf0920's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is very normal, and yes it happens to the majority of people post op. So common it has been named The Three Week Stall. -
Stall...at 10 days? Any thoughts?
liannatx replied to A'sgotthis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like the description of the weight loss trending into a pattern like stairsteps. It will go down a pound or two, maybe stay the same a day or two, another drop, and so forth... with some inevitable stalls or plateaus. But it will continue downward in steps. It is unlikely that everyday will have a loss. Every week may not even have a loss, but the downward trend will continue. -
@CowgirlJane You definitely need to try stuff on at Ross, their sizes are so inconsistent!

Frozen Chocolate Power Pudding Pops
liannatx replied to alwaysvegas's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
Hijack alert! Is that plate Gibson Everday China? I have had the entire set for about 20 years! I love my white dinnerware, and have never wanted anything new or different. I have a service for 18 of everything: dinner plates, salad, bowls, mugs, and all the platters and serving pieces. Last time I had to replace some coffee mugs they cost $20 each I had no idea, they have just always been our everday dishes. On topic: I have everything in my pantry to make those pudding pops this weekend. I cant wait to try them. -
Not losing any more weight?
liannatx replied to Tisa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, thanks for clarifying that! I was really wondering about that, and that makes perfect sense! -
Four months post - surgery............My Hair :(
liannatx replied to Tauruslady5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also doing all of those things, and am scared of hair loss. I wonder if the loss is surgery related, starvation related, what? I always thought it was due to the anesthesia, but since it is such an issue with bariatric patients I guess it must be diet related? -
Not losing any more weight?
liannatx replied to Tisa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@beachgurl84 I find that odd also. I have seen where people are advised to get Protein from solids and meats, but I don't think I have ever seen anyone with a goal of Less Than 60-80 g protein. -
I think Catos has really cute stuff in both regular and plus sizes, and they are very affordable. I got 4 pairs of Capris at Sears for $11.99 a pair. If you have a Ross, they are worth digging through. Ross is hit and miss, but I when I was gaining I needed some larger sizes and found 4 really cute tops there for about 10 dollars each.

5 weeks post op weight gain
liannatx replied to nikki1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It might be Water retention. It is totally normal for weight to fluctuate some, which is why is not always the best idea to weigh daily. I do it myself, but I only record my weight once a week. I would doubt that it is actual fat gain since you are most likely consuming under 800 calories/day at this stage.... don't drive yourself crazy with the scales! You might increase your water and see if will help flush out any retention. -
Will regular Tylenol help? IDK, sometimes it works for me as well as the prescription stuff... but I am one of those hard asses with a ridiculously high pain tolerance : ) I do agree that CanyonBaby is right about trying a heating pad. It will help soothe and relax all those sore incision muscles.

Did anyone have MORE energy newly sleeved?
liannatx posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel better now, just over 3 weeks post op, than I did before surgery. My mood is better and my energy levels are much higher. I don't understand how I can feel so peppy when my body is living on 600 calories a day. I read so many posts where some are struggling to get their energy back... but I know I can't be the only one that has felt 1,000 times better almost immediately post-op. I have contemplated all sorts of theories, lol. I know that my blood sugar is very stable now, and I am not having the numerous cups of coffee that I used to have. The little I am eating of soft solids are from fresh foods, nothing processed, few chemicals and additives. I have met my Fluid and Protein goals daily since day 3, and take all my Vitamins. Is cutting out the crap foods, and getting all the protein and vitamins the reason I feel so darn good? Could I have had deficiencies pre-op that I am now meeting? I really don't understand it. Did anyone else experience this? Is there some valid explanation, or just the perfect combination of things? -

Thanks! I am very grateful to be on this ride! -
I have cheated death 4 times. I was born 8 weeks premature, weighing just 3 lbs and 4 oz. I was in a terrible car wreck in high school that killed my best friend... I was ejected and was in ICU for 3 weeks with a year long recovery. When I was 19 I was on the back of a motorcycle and we were hit by a drunk driver on the highway, which rolled me 150 feet up an overpass. When I was 22 I was in another car accident, we were rear ended by a car going in excess of 90 mph... killed my friend that was driving the car. I have broken so many bones I cant keep count... pelvis in 6 places, both legs, an arm, a wrist, numerous fingers and toes, etc..., ( had so many lacerations and stitches as well, especially on the head injuries). 2 severe concussions, one with brain swelling. It is amazing and beyond explanation that I have no visible scars, limp, or any obvious traces of all my various injuries.

Are you on soft foods/purees? If so, hummus is fine. Hummus is actually on my soft food list.

I will get this off my chest.... I use ellipses in almost any paragraph. See, I have already done it. I know it is not always grammatically correct, but I have always written this way. I usually have proper verb tense, decent spelling, and complete sentences... but those little dots just work their way into almost anything I write. I hope this isn't bad enough to not have my posts read or answered. Is the plural of ellipsis even ellipses? Hmm...

40 lbs in 6 weeks is a great start! I can definitely see the difference in your photos. I am not even as far post op as you are... but for my 2 cents, I would expect it to slow down a little as the weight comes off. I think the calorie needs/deficit aren't as dramatic as the body weight lowers. Maybe some more experienced losers can verify or contradict that! Regardless, I would bank on you reaching your goal well before the 1 year mark!
