Hi! I find the best place to find information and ask question is the Post Op Gastric Sleeve Questions & Answers Forum (or the pre op one)! They stay pretty active and I have learned tons there.

When were YOU allowed to go solid?
liannatx replied to bangbangbarbie's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Soft foods at week 3 and solids at 1 month here. -
I use canned chicken breast for Chicken salad, it is perfect for me. I have mixed ground turkey with spaghetti sauce and put it on Ricotta cheese, or mixed with some refried Beans... again no issues. I think what works for me is when the meat is mixed with something soft and moist. Tilapia is heaven, and even worked good in my mushie stage. I guess my cast-Iron stomach is intact only smaller though, because I haven't had an issue with anything yet except a nasty, gross, preformed, pressed, probably fake meat, dry, disgusting chicken nugget.

I feel your pain! For me, the weight will probably be a "first on, last off" thing. I first substantially gained weight in my butt, hips, and thighs... and I expect that is the last place I will fully lose it from. The last places to look really FAT were my face, arms, back-fat, and the above the waist roll... so I bet they will be the first places I really start losing the weight from. I hate it, lol, because my butt and gut are what I want gone the most!

Well, that sucks. I am so glad you went to the ER so you could find out what was causing your pain. Now they can work on repair and healing. Sending wishes that you heal quickly and the pain stops.

Am I going through STARVATION MODE?!
liannatx replied to x0CheekzVSG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Creating new good habits is also key to successful weight loss, and a healthy new lifestyle. A couple of Protein drinks at this stage doesn't equate to overeating. I understand that this lack of hunger is a temporary stage in your progression to solid foods... but the protein is a necessary nutrient. If you aren't losing any weight, working towards surgeons recommended amounts of protein (and fluids) might kick start the weight loss back up. It will definitely help prevent malnutrition and muscle loss. -
Does everyone develop loose skin?
liannatx replied to jadama22's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No sure way to predict, like WillyBoo said it depends on Age, genetics, how overweight and how long at that weight... Anywhere you have stretch marks is a probable area of concern for loose skin. That skin has already been stretched past capacity and wont have the same elasticity to bounce back. -
Am I going through STARVATION MODE?!

I second what Chele H wonders! You should be having Protein drinks and plenty of liquids right now. What exactly are you getting in daily calorie and protein wise? -
8 days post-op, no BM, and gained weight
liannatx replied to krissy202001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad you called your Doc! I think he must be used to this issue, it seems pretty common. Keep following your plan, work on your fluids, and it will all resolve itself soon... even that darned "stuck" scale. I really think the first 2 weeks are the weirdest in adjusting to everything... it starts getting easier from there on out. Hang in there. -
I take a Prilosec in the morning and another one in the evening. The one a day wasn't cutting the acid for me. My Dr said to up it to 2 a day for the first several months, that did the trick! After 2-3 months I am to cut back to one a day and see how that goes. Honestly, there have been several days that I forgot to take it and I didn't have any issues like I was having that first week. Contact your Dr. He may be able to switch your PPI or change the dosage... it should be an easy fix, and you shouldn't have to suffer with this.

Fluid consumption
liannatx replied to Grateful_Love's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery 3/9/15 and I can also drink Water and fluids very very easily! I was seriously worried too, because I kind of expected to have problems getting all the fluids in. I think I must drink at just about the same rate it starts emptying from my stomach, because it has never stacked up or caused me any issues at all. Soft or solid foods, 2 oz and I am DONE. I literally weigh it, because a few bites over that will give that feeling of it sitting in my esophagus. -
8 days post-op, no BM, and gained weight
liannatx replied to krissy202001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I came home 7lbs heavier from surgery. It is from the IV fluids and the inflammation... Water retention. I let nature take its course on the BM, you really don't have much to make enough waste to have a normal one. It finally came (out, lol) on day 4, followed by a day of diarrhea. However, I ended up 13 lbs down at 2 weeks.... so once you start getting in plenty of fluids your body will start releasing any water retention, and the scales will start moving down. Are you getting in all your fluids? -
Best flavored protein powder
liannatx replied to JennG25's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have a Syntrax nectar Cappuccino over ice every morning. I mix it with Water in my insulated tumbler and fill it with ice. Made with water one full scoop has 100 calories, 24g Protein, and zero Carbs. I like the Fuzzy Navel and Caribbean Cooler flavors too. -
Have you smoked or vaped e-cigarettes and not had complications post surgery?
liannatx replied to GemmaLicious's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I vape 12mg. I did until the day of surgery, and from the day after I resumed. I had no problems at all from surgery or during recovery. When I told my regular doctor that I hadn't had an analog cigaretter in over a year she put "former smoker" in my records.... I guess many surgeons view it differently, it is hard to sort through the propaganda, but most doctors are very anti-smoking even if they do it themselves. They are giving the advice they feel required to give, because they/we all know how bad it is. -
Question about the challenges..............
liannatx replied to Beach Lover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is on the General Discussion page, starts Monday the 13 th. -
I think that she is struggling and doesn't want to see you slipping so soon into this. She is projecting.

Try some Syntrax nectar Protein powders. They come in individual serving packets too, so you can taste several different flavors and find a few you like. They have a good variety of fruity flavors and taste much lighter, more like juice. For me, they are way easier to drink than the sweeter Vanilla/Chocolate ones. I have a Cappuccino one over ice every morning.

If it were me, I would go high Protein and super low carb for a week... go back to the basics. eggs for Breakfast and chicken salad, meat, seafood, or fish for lunch and dinner. Green veggies. If you have to have a snack have some fat-free cottage cheese, a boiled egg, a cheese stick, or sugar free popsicles. Eliminate any sugar, fruit, bread, or grains.... for a week. It should deplete any stored glycogen and put you back into fat-burning mode. Make sure you are getting above 60 or 70 grams of protein, under 30ish g carbs, and getting all of your 64+ oz of fluids in. Log in everything you eat and make sure you are getting your protein in and staying low on carbs.

You look fabulous, and very happy about it

3 Weeks Out - No Appetite / Not Eating
liannatx replied to cockapoomom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think you should start doing cardio until you are meeting your Protein and Fluid goals. Also, the gain can actually be Water retention, which can be caused by dehydration. I think you should focus on trying to increase your protein, GiniMarie had a good suggestion for that, and making sure you are getting enough fluids in right now. This should help with the tiredness too! -
