HELP going to miami in may!
liannatx replied to jackiemc1987's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That will put you about 2 months post-op? You should be fine by then! You should be fully recovered, have your energy back, and be eating soft or regular foods. -
I didn't have a 3 week stall, but I am having one now at week 5. I expected this, I just hope it doesn't last long. I am anxious to take off another 20lbs.... Like you, I just keep following my plan, and know that eventually scales will move.

liannatx replied to RammerJammer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fluids from the IVs and Water retention from the swelling. I came home 6 lbs heavier... but it came off the first week. -
One month out! Need to take some pictures...
liannatx posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Has anyone else spent years avoiding the camera? I have lost 20lbs. and I just realized that I have NO recent pictures, at all. Even at Christmas I either hid from the camera, or made sure I was behind it! If I had to be in a group picture I would be in the back so you can just see my head, lol. I need some fat pictures so I will not forget how uncomfortable I was at my high weight! I cant really even tell that I have lost anything yet.... but I bet if I had some pictures to compare I could I love, love, love to see others progress pictures. It is uber duber motivating to see how happy and great everyone looks as they drop the weight. Take those before pictures! (and during ones too) I bet that people that don't have them wish they did, just as a reminder of how far they have come! -
One of the better yogurts I have come across is the Dannon Light & Fit Greek yogurt. Offhand I know that the strawberry flavor has 80 calories, 8 carbs, and 12 g Protein. Comes in a wide variety of flavors too.

Problem eating phase 3 puree food
liannatx replied to Newday2015's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tend to think that if it hurts, don't do it. Stick with the liquids and full liquids for another day or two, and then try a few bites of pureed food again. You might still have too much swelling to be comfortable with the softer more solid purees. I didn't get to have pureed foods until after 21 days post-op (week 4), and I never had any issues. -
I hope they get all this fixed so you can get on the mend. I hate that you have had complications, and am certainly sending prayers up daily until we hear that you fully recovering.

I lost 19 lbs my first month, and I am thrilled with that. In the past I have always tended to be a slower loser, even on ultra low carb diets... even with the lapband. So I feel like 19 lbs in 4 weeks was very successful! I fully expect my loss to be less this month, now that I have started on more normal foods... Hoping to lose at least 2-3 lbs per week though. I am grateful for my loss, but happy (and a little jealous) for those fortunate to be super fast losers!

Not getting much in
liannatx replied to jackiemc1987's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me Puree was week 4 (last week) and I could do about 2 oz of cottage cheese or chicken salad, about half of a yogurt or sugar free pudding. I do a Protein drink for breakfast and have a early 11:00 lunch, so I typically have a snack about 3:00 and then dinner at 6:00ish... It is crazy though that some doctors say only 3 meals a day, some say eat something every 3-4 hours, 3 meals 2 Snacks, etc... I just stick with what my plan says, and have had no problems so far. The thing I am most diligent about is getting all my fluids and protein. -
87 lbs! That will certainly empty a closet

Start weight, 230 Goal weight, 210

I already had a Magic Bullet so I didn't buy anything new, but it worked great for the thin liquids and pureed stages.

How do I update my weight?
liannatx replied to James McDonald's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
I use the "Together We Have Lost..." at the very bottom of the page. If you update your weight there it will update it under your profile too. I don't think it updates the ticker though, not sure... just addad a ticker today, lol. -
Can I have coffee on my preop diet?
liannatx replied to purpleandgold's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@purpleandgold You should ask her specifically about the coffee then. As for yogurt, the Dannon Light & Fit Greek yogurt has a really good calorie/protein/carb range. For example, the strawberry has 80 calories, 12g Protein, and 8 carbs. -
If you look online at Macys , JCP, etc... when you are looking at Tops you can select 3/4 sleeves in your search! It will weed out all the short and cap sleeves tops.

What Do You Wish You'd Asked?
liannatx replied to HawkFeather's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
These are the most common questions I see asked, many in posts asking "is this normal?" What is a reasonable amount of weight to expect to lose the first month and/or weekly for My BMI? How many ounces should I limit each of the following: liquids, soft/puree, solids? How common are stalls/plateaus? When is it normal to have the first BM post-op? Can I have caffeine, alcohol, carbonation, etc... (as applies) What are my goals for Protein, carbs, calories, and fluids daily? -
Can I have coffee on my preop diet?
liannatx replied to purpleandgold's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had coffee on my pre-op, as long as it doesn't include high calorie/ high carb sugars and creamers it should be okay. Did your Dr give you a specific diet plan? Coffee and all no calorie liquids were on mine. You might not be able to have it for a while post-op due to the acidity, that varies by surgeon. -
An ounce of Vodka has 65 calories and 0 carbs. Like others have said, just use moderation. Mixed with a zero-calorie mixer, Vodka is not as big of calorie blow as some choices could be.

Almost 3 weeks WHAT TO EAT?
liannatx replied to jackiemc1987's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I mostly added chicken salad, Tilapia, and refried Beans w cheese. I measured out 2oz and took tiny bites, make sure it isn't the bites size of how fast you are eating it that is causing problems! -
Swollen Stomach - 1 wk post op
liannatx replied to TudaTank2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I felt fat and pregnant for the first week. I think the big bloated belly feeling lasted about 2 weeks for me, but the first week was the worst. -
Tunaaaa noooo..........anyone else have no no foods
liannatx replied to robertweisman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my first experience with ground beef tonite. I had my first vomiting experience tonite. I find ground turkey to be very easy on my stomach... It seems ground beef definitely isn't. Won't try that again for a long while. -
1 month ago was surgery (March 10th)
liannatx replied to Riz2006's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is incredible! I am a month out and down 20 lbs, and darned thrilled with it! -
There are so many things that could be the cause of this. One thing I think may be behind this is that you have removed (or seemingly to her) one of the big bonds of your friendship. If you were both overweight children, that common struggle is most likely a big part of what created that friendship bond. Especially if you were constantly dieting together. It was a shared struggle. You both always had someone to relate to with the weight issue. I think she may be feeling more insecure than jealous... or a combination of both.

Lap band out / sleeve in
liannatx replied to aubrey222's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also take a PPI twice daily. I had stomach acid pretty bad the first week, and that was when I went to a twice a day dosage. The 2x daily did the trick for me! It seems to be common when newly post op to take acid blockers for the first few months. Also, Acid can cause the rumblings and even a hunger-like rumbling sensation. I am 4 weeks post-op, everything just gets better every single day. -
Did anyone else get a pill your supposed to take for first three months to protect the stomach?
liannatx replied to robertweisman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am taking Prilosec twice a day. The ones they gave me (in mexico) to bring home were Ranitidina... which I think is Zantac.
