  1. Congrats on your surgery! It will get better every single day from this point. @@Shawn Wallace Let your surgeon know about the heartburn. They put me on PPIs for now, for the first 3 months. I think heartburn is pretty common in the first few months... but is easy to prevent and treat.

    Syntrax Nectar Reviews

@@SlimmerKimmer I haven't tried freezing it! I bet it would make a great popsicle treat this summer... but the Slushie idea sounds good too!

    Finished a 5k this morning!

That is great! What an accomplishment, you should feel very proud. Heck I feel proud for you! I could do it at this point...

    Swanson's Infused Broths

I agree, these are much more flavorful than regular broth. I would avoid the Thai Ginger one post-op. It was way too hot and spicy. I love hot foods, and it has a great Ginger flavor... but two sips of it made me very sick to my stomach and I had to eat some Tums to get rid of the feeling.

    Feeling better already

Sounds like you are having a great recovery! Mine was very easy as well. Glad that you are feeling so good and have such an optimistic outlook!

    Syntrax Nectar Reviews

I love the Cappuccino flavor made with Water and on ice. This is my Breakfast most mornings. Since I am having coffee again I like to mix it with a cooled cup of coffee even better! I like the Fuzzy Navel and strawberry Sorbet made the same way, with water and lots of ice. The Caribbean Cooler is good. I am not a fan of any brand of chocolate or vanilla flavors, but the Chocolate Truffle is actually good made with milk.
  7. I have heard of some people not having to do the pre-op liquid diet. It is primarily to shrink the liver, and some (especially lower BMI) don't have a fatty liver. I think the majority are required to do some form of pre-op liquid diet or a pre-op diet, to lose a certain amount of weight though. Your surgeon was probably pleased with the 10 lb loss. @CanyonBaby This is my way of thinking also..." I 'do as I'm told' by my surgical team. I paid them for this, because I was not able to do this on my own." This is why I choose to follow my guidelines. It is definitely a choice though, and OP says she chooses not to. Not much others can do to change that it seems.
  8. You aren't alone with that. That one are was the worst one for me too. I have read many others find that the only, or the most painful, incision site... Even after the general overall soreness goes away, that one place stayed tender for weeks. It does go away though.

    Surgery is tomorrow...

    Good luck and speedy recovery!
  10. Are you referring to pain in the area of the incision site? The larger left incision was the worst for me. It was very difficult to get up from sitting or laying down, it felt like I had done 1000 crunches. Is that the pain you mean?

Well I did it 2 days post on...

I was able to easily drink water like that after about the 4th day, a bottle in an hour to hour and a half. The stomach swelling is going down. I can still easily drink my liquids in about an hour per bottle or glass... however, I can barely eat 2 - 2.5 oz of food now that I am on solids, so it certainly seems that the liquids do indeed just empty from the stomach pretty fast.

    LOL! You go girl!

    What is in YOUR "SnackBag"?

@@CanyonBaby I pretty much follow the same plan! I can still only eat about 2 or 2.5 ounces at a time... I have my 3 "meals" and a snack in between in each, so I basically eat 5 small meals a day. It is the only way I can get my calories and Protein in. I keep cheese sticks, boiled eggs, and Fat-free cottage cheese in my mini-fridge at work. I buy 1 thick slice each of smoked Turkey Breast and chicken Breast from the deli and cube it, then portion 2oz into Ziplock snack bags. I also love beef jerky.
  14. I had one week on Clear Liquids, and 2 weeks of full liquids. You are right, it was miserable and it sucked. I followed it to the letter. I was more afraid of complications than I was of being hungry. I think you just have to reach from within, and really pull every ounce of willpower for this stage, but you DO need to follow you surgeons recommendations. This stage is not about comfort or weightloss, it is about healing properly with no complications.

    Protein tablets

I haven't even heard of them! Try them and let us know about them. I also don't like the canned drinks at all, and the Chocolate/vanilla ones especially. I do however love some of the flavors of the Syntrax nectars when mixed with Water. The Cappuccino one is great on ice, and the strawberry Sorbet tastes more like Kool-aid or juice than a Protein drink. Like BLERDgirl mentioned, there are several unflavored protein powders than can be added to Soups or mixed into foods to bump up the protein.

    Survived

Good for you! Doesn't it feel great?
  17. Mine first stall just hit at week 6 and 7. I added all kinds of new foods this week to shake things up. Avocado, Bacon wrapped scallops, Beans and rice... Made my goal 800/80/40 on calories/protein/carbs. I upped my calories from the 500-600 range (been in since full liquids/purees) all the way up to 800-900 per day, and I dropped 2 lbs this week!
  18. I love it, it is very flattering and you look fantastic in it!
  19. Hope you are feeling better! Those gas pains are horrid... I didn't have them with the sleeve, but I did with the band and remember them well. You should start feeling a little better each day!
  20. I am definitely here often! I learn something new all the time, and it is great for motivation! Good luck with getting your date! The waiting is difficult for sure.
  21. I was told to wait at least 6 weeks until the stomach is fully healed. When I had the lapband I used to drink Vodka and Crystal light and it never halted the weight loss. Vodka (and most liquors) only has 65 calories per ounce and 0 carbs, it is the mixers you have to watch out for.

How many lbs loose in 1st month?

19 the first month, but only 5-6 so far this month. The rate of loss well depend on Start weight, metabolism, age, etc... so it is pretty hard to compare results. They will vary wildly!

    Your weirdest breakfast?

I was always a breakfast skipper pre-op, and when I did eat breakfast it was rarely traditional breakfast foods. I usually have a Syntrax Cappuccino iced for breakfast now... but when I have solid food it is still odd stuff. I tend to reverse my lunch and breakfast that I take to work. I will eat the chicken fajitas around 8:00 and then grab the yogurt for lunch. I have eaten Tilapia, the inside of a shrimp taco, Zuchinni lasagna, etc... for breakfast. I think I eat what I had planned to be lunch because I am hungry at breakfast time now. (which undoubtedly has to do with not having the 2-3 cups of coffee I used to need for a morning boost!)

    Restless Legs and No Sleep

@CanyonBaby I don't understand how it works, but I also have been sleeping better! I'm not sure if it is the soap bar, but it is the only thing I have done different.

    Antacids?

I take OTC Prilosec twice a day. I was only taking it once a day, but the 2nd week post op I was waking with Reflux and was told to take 2 a day for the first few months. Taking them twice a day works perfectly... I don't have any problems at all with heartburn or reflux now.
