@blashlee I so agree with this "My frustration with seeing "plus size" models was that they were still a seemingly unattainable standard of beauty and size." It has always been puzzling to me to look through a plus size catalog and see the clothes modeled by someone 5'10" and size 10. I have noticed though that more catalogs and online store-sites are using models that truly look like they wear a plus size.

I traveled in a car for the 4 hour return trip. I was fine. We stopped at a gas station about half way so I could use the restroom, move around, and stretch my legs. I had taken a pillow, and put it over my stomach to cushion the seatbelt and give support over bumps etc... a great tip I got from a friend that had been sleeved. I read my book, played games on my phone, and sipped a VitaminWater Zero all the way home.

Week one Surgaverssary
liannatx replied to Mooseknuckle's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Glad you are doing well! The soreness lingered for me too, but I really felt better and better everyday after that first week. Congrats on your 27 lbs lost! That is an amazing and motivating amount in such a short time. -
3 weeks 2 days postop!
liannatx replied to Ready set go!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It seems great to me! I don't know your starting BMI, but 24 lbs in 3 weeks would be amazing no matter what your start weight is... that is an average of 8 lbs a week. It is hard to compare loss across the board... we all have different bodies and issues that affect our metabolism. Are you happy with the loss so far? That is the most important thing : ) As for the Protein drinks... have you tried different kinds? It pays to sample brands and flavors to find one you like. I personally don't like the chocolate or vanilla ones that are so easily available, but found that I love several flavors of the Syntrax Nectars. Drinking a Cappucinno one right now! -
I'm not sure I understand what the big deal is about her modeling. I see larger plus models on Zulily, SWAK, Torrid, LB, etc... Is it that she is 280 lbs? With the super-sizing of America, I guess she meets a need somewhere in the industry.

I hate that the PA has you feeling discouraged. I think 9 lbs in 2 weeks is very good, for what its worth. That is 4.5 lbs a week. But if they want 5 more days of liquids then I would do it too. Hang in there, and don't let anyone get your spirits down.

Wow.... is this your Sleeve surgeon or your PCP?

Any tricks or tips for small portion purchases?
liannatx replied to MissLiss's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Like @@Inner Surfer Girl said, there probably wont be much room for veggies right now. I had baked Tilipia as one of my first soft foods, and weighed out 2 oz... that was pretty much my limit. We had sautéed zucchini and I didn't have room for a bite. That tilapia was delicious though, as I am sure your Salmon will be! Enjoy slowly! -
To Catheter or Not to Catheter?
liannatx replied to Sutter Phoenix's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't get a catheter. I don't know why they would use one... you actually need to be getting up and walking and moving around. You need to walk for the circulation to prevent blood clots and to work out any residual trapped air from the surgery. I would feel more uncomfortable with a catheter, and if given a choice I would not have one. -
A stall is super common a few weeks after surgery. It is so common that it is referred to as the "Three Week Stall" , your stall just hit a little early. It can be frustrating, but if you keep getting in your Protein and fluids the loss will resume!

Very wise! I have a friend that did it with her husband. It motivated them both to stay on plan, and they did it so there would only be that one recovery time.
-
Yikes. I would be sensitive to that comment too. Chalk it up to ignorance and try to shake it off. LOL, I know... sometimes easier said than done.

@MrsSugarbabe I love the Cacique balconette bras! I love the shape and support. Best bras I have found, been wearing them for years.

I love refried Beans with hot salsa on them! So satisfying. -
How can reach my protein goals without shakes?
liannatx replied to marjan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@Bufflehead has a great list there! I also ate a lot of chicken salad at that stage. -
Band removal. Pressure for RNY over Sleeve.
liannatx replied to adorkbl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am band to sleeve. I was also successful with the band, losing to the 140's and staying there for several years until I started having band problems. An unfilled band let to a gradual regain of every single pound lost, plus 20 extra. I really looked at both surgery options with the frame of mind that I would be successful again no matter which one I chose. I know I can take the weight off again with a good plan, some extra help (WLS), and a positive attitude. I have been pleased with the results so far... 28 lbs lost in about 10 weeks. That is just over 1/4 of the way to goal for me, and I tend to be a slower loser. I think it boils down to what your personal preference is, and if it is Sleeve... go for it! -
Have you tried the under-the-bra shaper tanks? They let you wear your own bra, but smooth out the belly and back areas. They don't create a second layer over your bra. I have never tried the longline bras.... the cups always look odd on the ones I have seen, sort of conical or pointy shaped. Maybe there is a pretty and flattering one out there that someone has discovered and can recommend! Have you looked on Amazon? They always have such a huge variety, it might be worth doing a search there.

Enough water?!
liannatx replied to mariahthompson0913's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drank a lot of VitaminWater Zero, Gatorade G2, Powerade Zero. just sip all day. -
Yep! Just woke up the day I needed to start and had a Protein drink and one for lunch....I did my meal as dinner. I wanted to be able to have dinner with my husband. I had flavored waters and VitaminWater Zero, and just drank a lot all day to help with the hunger... it wasn't that bad after the first couple of days.
-
I have been wanting to try that! I love the Syntrax Cappuccino flavor, so I bet I would like the Chike.

May 21, 2015 Three year surgeversary.
liannatx replied to Lisa's Hope's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Why not just go back to basics? Just focus on Protein first, and anything else after. Are you still having a Protein Drink supplement? Start the day with that as Breakfast, and focus on protein filling lunch and dinner. Cut out refined carbs, sugar, and all the stuff you eliminated while you were losing! It still works! -
Maybe they are tying to set realistic expectations. Most people I know cant finish an egg right off the bat. It is yummy an soft but so dense. Don't do it if it hurts, or do it slower! I saw this posted as a general rule: week 1-4: 400 calories week 4-6: 400-600 calories week 6-8: 600-800 calories

My husband would love everything about this thread, and about the replies too!!! He is a deny until you die cropduster. And he looks so handsome and innocent.

I have had band, band out, and then sleeve. Never had a drain. Like you, @@Bndtoslv, I had minimal scars from band removal... and that seemed to be a very very easy surgery and recovery for me. I didn't have drains for the Sleeve surgery either, and had an equally easy recovery.

I love the CeraVe... I like the tub best, but I have the lotion too.
