Yes! That soup is like liquid heaven at that stage! A container to go makes several "meals" too. Just puree like you would any full liquid... some have corn and other solid bits.

Day 6 post op...stabbing pain when drinking
liannatx replied to OnMyOwnJourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you taking small sips and waiting a minute in between? You might still have so much swelling that backing off the full liquids for another day or two will make a difference. Try different temperatures also, some people do better with cold liquids while some can only tolerate warm at first. -
I didn't have any problems drinking 2 oz every 15 minutes. Water drains through pretty fast.

Measuring food to avoid discomfort
liannatx replied to carolscience's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I sigh, do 1 hiccup, or burp... but it isn't dependable. I am having the worst time making myself not take another bite when I think I am done. So many times I think "is that it? should I be done?"... and wait a minute then have another bite.... and that one last bite will leave me sliming or uncomfortable. -
Measuring food to avoid discomfort

I have a small flat digital scale that will tare to Zero after I put a dish on it. I put my saucer on it, tare to zero, and then measure my food out right onto my plate. It was less than $20 at Walmart. I am also a big fan of the little 4 oz Rubbermaid containers.... for storage and pre-portioning Snacks or foods to go to work. -
We went out to Chinese when I was still on full liquids and I had the egg drop Soup... and it was heavenly! I have only been out to eat Chinese food again once since on solids. I got the Scallop and Shrimp stir fry, ate 2 scallops (no room for veggies) and brought the rest home. My leftovers fed myself and my husband for lunch the next day!

I haven't had any problems with anything I have tried yet. I am still good with dairy, thank goodness... I love my cottage cheese and yogurt! I am good with all veggies so far, even able to eat a few bites of salad. I do well with ground beef or turkey. chicken, fish, seafood, eggs are all tolerated. I have done fine on ice water since day 3, and I know some have issues with that. I really haven't tested the waters much because I am still so limited with a 2 oz capacity that I usually just choose Protein. I have only tried bread once... on half a topless sandwich... it was too filling, but didn't make me sick. I have always had a cast Iron stomach, I guess it is just a "mini" cast iron stomach now.

WEEK 18.... Almost 60lbs down... my first eating mistake.
liannatx replied to jjmcrash218's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are doing great! I need to start my walking again. It has rained so much that I quit.... and I think that has something to do with my loss slowing down so much. -

What's the first food you cheated with after Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
liannatx replied to NoBsVs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good Luck. -
The reason I recommended you look at your program materials is that of this, only the refried beans, cooked vegetables, eggs, and hummus were part of my soft stage. The fish, chicken, and chili were all in later stages. Gotcha! Soft foods and purees vary.

Those are all in my meals as solids for me!

Trying to stay positive

Cool! Hope you have a smoothe surgery and recovery! -
It makes no sense. It seems calorically impossible. It is frustrating. I don't understand either, but I do know the loss varies.. and stalls, and resurmes. Most importantly, it resumes.

There are so many options! Do a search for "soft foods"! Offhand, I would say: chicken salad, tuna salad, seafood salad, refried Beans w cheese, scrambled eggs, hummus, chili, fish, cooked veggies, etc...
-
Experiment on finding what is healthy, tasty, and friendly this soon. I had Tilapia with lemon pepper and fresh lemon. chicken thigh fajitas, Ground turkey with Pasta sauce, Scrambled egg w sausage, the options are limited by your imagination! Focus on healthy Protein rich foods and you will be fine... 2 oz is not much at this point.

What's the first food you cheated with after Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
liannatx replied to NoBsVs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would bet that she lost some in the beginning. I would also bet that she found a way to "eat around" her sleeve and didn't lose any signifigant amount... and wont keep it off if she did. You Sir are a brave brave man. lol I did something similar with some Won Ton soup I had about a week post op, except I chewed up all of the vegetables in it and spit them out. To be fair though, while certainly unhealthy, my cousin, who also had the sleeve done, said she lived off of McDonald's cheeseburgers for the first several months after her surgery as soon as she was able to eat solids. I get scared anytime I put anything in my mouth that I know I'm not supposed to. At this point, I'm more worried about rupturing my staple line than anything else. I imagine that 6 weeks out(when I should be able to tolerate most foods), I'll start being a lot braver, which could be a dangerous thing. I think the key is to reign it back after you mess up. Knowing that there can be dire consequences to bad choices helps with that. If you don't mind me asking, did this adversely affect her weight loss or did she lose a good amount regardless? -
Anybody older doing this?
liannatx replied to amoreno's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am 48 and is that "older"? I did Lapband in my very early 30's and lost to goal easily, and everything looked great. Now at 48 nothing looks very firm or perky to begin with, so I hope the health benefits make up for it, LOL! I have been happy with my success so far. I am in the middle of menopause, had/have PCOS, Insulin resistant but no longer on Metformin since surgery. I feel like the weight loss deck became stacked against me. I have not had a moment of regret after the first week. I am losing slow, but losing. I lost erratically and slowly with the Crapband too, but lost to goal. I think it is possible to get to a healthy weight if the attitude and commitment are there! -
I think he probably feels left out. It is such a big life changing decision. It is easy to say it is 'our body, our decision' but it does impact our spouse... he is coming to terms and struggling to see how he will fit in with the "new" you, and he isn't getting any reassurance. Men are like children sometimes,,, maybe he really wants you to tell him that you will love him no matter what you weigh just as he has always loved you no matter what you weighed.

Foods to eat on soft food diet
liannatx replied to banksdea's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Canned chicken breast makes an easy and moist Chicken salad... just drain and mix with some Miracle Whip. A scrambled egg. Refried Beans with cheese. Dannon Light & Fit Greek yogurt is great (I still love and eat it almost every day). I was able to eat fish on soft foods, and Tilapia was very easy for me. -
@Sanstan My husband has actually lost 10 lbs LOL! We tend to cook a lot of fish and chicken for dinner now, with a green or non-starch veggie. He is and always has been pretty fit, but I guess the healthier eating is good for him too! He still gets some of my leftovers too though, in fact he got my 3rd shrimp : )
