  1. I have no idea why the pre-op diet would cause heartburn or chest pressure, especially with only Water. You should see your regular doctor. This is not a normal side-effect.
  2. I did canned chicken breast with mayo, or even better Ranch dressing, and pureed a little until smooth. You can add a little broth if it seems too thick.
  3. Then you are taking your own failings and applying them to others. What caused YOUR stalls may not be universal.
  4. I revisioned to Sleeve. It worked well with the damage left from the band. I am doing well and happy with my choice. It would be unfair to compare your loss to mine... I have insulin resistance, PCOS, Menopausal, etc.... but I am still losing.
  5. I had band, and ended up being one of the high percentage that had complications with it. It really damaged my stomach after slipping and creating masses of scar tissue, and eventually I had to have it removed. I revised to Sleeve, and have been very happy with my choice. I was off work for one week, and had an easy recovery.

    Sweet tooth

I ate a mini-cupcake on our last day of school. It wasn't that good, to be honest... and made me sick to my stomach. I had 2 Hershey's kisses once, those I enjoyed! I don't have much of a sweet tooth... I crave salty Snacks, which are also a slippery slope I am choosing to avoid.
  7. My favorites are refried Beans with salsa and cheese, chicken salad, ricotta with marina, and cauliflower mock baked potato. I don't remember what my first soft/puree was...

3 wks post op - very low energy

I would work on increasing your Protein a little. Are you getting plenty of fluids? By about day 4 I was able to drink 3 protein drinks and get all my fluids in, and really felt the difference. I think it just affects us all differently. The lingering tiredness is common... get plenty of rest, your body is still recovering and telling you it needs that restorative sleep time. I think 2-3 weeks seems common until the energy levels come back.
  9. I was fine going back to work after a week, but I had a speedy recovery. I was blessed to not have any trapped gas pain.
  10. 3 lbs in a week is normal healthy loss. In my opinion, expecting a loss of 7-14 lbs a week is setting yourself up for disappointment.

    Pill crushing

I never crushed mine. I was given pills for pain and PPI meds in pill form, and told I could take them with Water starting the day of my release from the hospital.

    Five days out after surgery

I look forward to sharing this journey with you! Glad you are having an easy recovery, and kudos for taking this huge step in changing your health!

How long before you wore shape-wear?

I love the Under-the-bra shaper tanks. I didn't wear one for 2 weeks, until after my steri-strips started to loosen and start coming off.

    Help! Pre op diet!

Premier Protein seems to have a big following, I see a lot of people that continue to use those post op. I like the suggestion of trying some Torani syrups to a Vanilla shake...butter pecan, coffee, caramel all sound yum to me. I bet the Peanut Butter flavor or chocolate mint would be good in a chocolate shake. I have also seen some people that find they do better if they put their shakes in one of those insulated tumblers with a lid and straw. It has something to do with not smelling that Protein Drink smell.
  15. The man is an EXCELLENT surgeon. He removed my Lapband, and a bunch of scar tissue and adhesions. He also did my Sleeve after a recovery period. I was in misery for the first day or two, then had a super smooth recovery! I have stayed in touch with Susan periodically, and they are quick to answer any questions.

    New here - need advice

Yes, the "3 week stall" is quite common. I didn't lose a bit for a week, I just stuck with the plan and the loss did resume. I proceeded into soft solids, which raised my calories some, and my loss started back.
  17. Do you need to crush them? I was allowed to take pills from the day I was released. My prescribed pain meds and PPI were even in pill form. Like desertgirl_74 suggested, you need to ask your doctor this question...
  18. I am about 3 month post-op and still can't tolerate much more than 2 oz of Proteins, a whole scrambled egg, 2 scallops, 2.5 oz of softer proteins like Tilipia or chicken salad. I still weigh my food because I don't seem to have much leeway... one bite to much is miserable.
  19. Yes, stomach acid can cause nausea. I left the hospital taking Prilosec twice a day. At 8 weeks I tried to see if I could stop taking it. I got rumbling, gurgling, and churning noises all day.... and after I ate or drank it was worse, I literally barfed up curdled Protein shake once. That is when went back to taking them twice a day. Does your doctor know that you are having these problems? There are other things he can give you for the nausea if it is not acid related.
  20. Thank you for posting these. You look fantastic! Very inspiring to see such a great success.

    Question

I was drinking very easily after the 3rd day too! That worst of the swelling is going down. I know that if you really drink more than your little stomach can hold, it will come back up. Still, err on the side of caution and pace your sips out a little...

    STEVIA SWEETENER

I don't have any problems with Stevia. I don't use very much though... one packet in a glass of tea or cup of coffee, and both of those are things I don't have daily anymore. A box of the packets lasts for a long time.
  23. @@Miss Mac ... That post is perfect advice. I am going to bookmark it!

    Medication After Surgery

I was taking acid blockers and any meds from the first day home. Even my pain pills were in pill form.

The Secret To Fast Weight Loss

Mine is almost to the bra strap, I have vowed that if it starts thinning I will cut it above the shoulders... okay, lol, maybe just at the shoulders. I am literally coming up on 3 months post op, and worried I will start losing it. How far post op are you? Did you do this from post-WLS hair loss, or just because you felt like it? I bet you were just feeling rebellious and sassy, LOL!
