Favorite response when you don't want to tell?
liannatx replied to southernbelle256's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most people know that I had surgery. I do have the occasional inquiry at the grocery store, Nail place, etc... I just keep it simple "Trying to eat less, and move more". -
Do you have to do one for surgery? I have never done one. Didn't have to for the Lapband, Lapband Removal, or the Sleeve. I think if your surgeon requires one they will make a recommendation on what kind and when to do it.

Cute! I also love leggings with boots and a longer sweater or tunic! That will be staple winter wear for me. I was wearing skinny jeans tucked into my boots last year... but I have several pairs of leggings I plan on wearing this year. Wear what makes you feel happy, because I am sure you look great in all of it : )

Full liquids for 2 weeks - help!
liannatx replied to Need4Change's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On full liquids I was happy to add pureed soup. Cambells Bean and Bacon, Cream of chicken, Potato Soup. Thinned and pureed, it is such a tasty break from Protein drinks and yogurt. -
Food menu?!?!? Bored already
liannatx replied to jayali's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you still on purees? These were pretty much my staples on soft/purees: I had chicken salad almost every day for lunch during that stage. The canned chicken breast is soft/moist enough and makes it really fast and easy to prepare. Tuna salad. Ricotta cheese with some Marinara sauce. Refried Beans with Sharp cheddar and a little salsa. I was allowed Tilipia on my soft food/puree stage. Soft scrambled egg. Cottage cheese. -
The hair loss tends to occur about 3 months after surgery, if it occurs. I did not experience it. I haven't even noticed any thinning. I don't know why some get it and some don't... I do know that I was committed to getting my Protein in from the very first day. I drank the clear protein bullets and Isopure ready to drink the week of Clear liquids. I was as serious about reaching my protein as I was about taking my daily Vitamins and getting in all my liquids. I don't know if that is what made the difference, or if it was just luck.

Any teachers out there...returning to work?
liannatx replied to ForLfKlovr's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Me too! I had mine done on a Monday and returned the following Monday. I felt tired, but actually felt better getting dressed and out of the house. -
New here...6 months post op!
liannatx replied to bonnieguinn's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow! You look great, fabulous progress! Bet you feel like a million bucks! -
Syntrax Nectars. I have an iced Cappucinno every morning. I also like the Caribbean Cooler, strawberry Sorbet, Fuzzy Navel, and basically every flavor I have tried. I like the ones that mix and taste great with just Water, anything but chocolate and vanilla... major burn out with those.

Weight loss at 6 months?
liannatx replied to jjyogalove's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I am losing slowly but pretty steadily, and always have lost slowly in the past. I expect I will be down 50 lbs at 6 months... but that is halfway to goal for me, and I am Very happy with the results so far. I have no doubt I will reach my goal, it is just going at a slower pace for me. I understand that you are just looking for a rough goal to shoot for, but is impossible to compare different peoples results. For reference I am 5' 4" also, 48, menopausal, PCOS, and (HAD) Insulin Resistance, I am also a band to sleeve revision... I don't expect anyone else to have the same metabolism I do, although I know there are many that do. Some lucky people are able to drop 15-20 lbs a month and reach goal by 6 months. I think the majority fall somewhere in between. Good Luck! It has been a great, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. -
Band removed 3 years ago, now thinking Sleeve?
liannatx replied to MEL0129's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have revised to Sleeve. I had major amounts of scar tissue, which he cleaned out when he removed the band. It is my understanding that he also removed some scar tissue when he did the Sleeve surgery. My recovery was effortless. I was off pain meds in 2 days and back at work on the 7th day post op. The heartburn/reflux is a valid point. I do get heartburn and take Prilosec daily. Prilosec controls it completely, so it isn't an issue at all unless I skip them for more than a day or two. I know that others choose Bypass over the possibility of acid issues, but honestly adding an acid blocker to your daily Vitamins and pills is not an issue. I do agree with a previous poster that says a higher BMI person might want to choose Bypass over Sleeve. The weight loss is initially faster, which is such an improvement in overall health. And the malabsorbtion aspect might help with a larger amount to lose. It will boil to your personal choice, or your surgeons recommendation. Do your research on medical sites that offer statistics on long term results and possible complications. Most of us that offer personal opinions are biased towards the surgery we have LOL! -
Change in attitude toward you after surgery, am I the only one?
liannatx replied to Anna Montana84's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Picking fights with you over what? If it is over your choice to have WLS, just shake it off. That means they are dealing with their own insecurities and issues. I really haven't noticed this for myself. I feel so much happier and more positive that it must just radiate from me, lol, because I feel like people are friendlier than ever. -
I just Googled it and found this "in detecting nicotine and its metabolites in the body, nicotine levels remain detectable in the urine for only 3-4 days."
-
I use Sparkpeople.

TMI Warning 6days post op - diarrhea
liannatx replied to swoman2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had it for a day or two. It is common at some point in the liquid phase. Liquid in, Liquid out. I never took anything for it because it resolved itself in a short time. -
Donate or Save Clothes
liannatx replied to Slimsoon1988's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everytime I lose out of a size I donate anything that is too big. I cant stand a closet full of clothes I cant wear, and see no point in storing a bunch of clothes I cant wear. -
Congrats! That is such a great milestone!

Almost exact same scenario here! I think everyone still had the mental image imprint of the larger size, with the break from seeing each other it takes them aback that suddenly you look much smaller than they remember. Also, I think the closer and closer you get to goal the more difference the loss makes. Just yesterday my mother said "Good Grief Lee, how much more have you lost since last time you were here?" And yep, it has only been 10 lbs. I swear this last 10-15 lbs has made more difference than the first 30 lost... which is a good thing : )

Personal Style -- How will I dress as a thin woman?
liannatx replied to Thinside's topic in The Gals' Room
@Sharon1964 Thank you! I just saved the Vivienne Files to my favorites! I love the 4x4 combos. This works perfectly for a mix and match wardrobe. I am going to look at EVERYTHING on that site this weekend!!! -
Do you weigh yourself everyday? Bad/good?
liannatx replied to wagyu's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Every day. I think fluctuations are normal, so they don't bother me. I only record my weight once a month on Sparkpeople, and the trend each month is downward... which is what I want! -
Weight loss - does it pick up any faster?
liannatx replied to brandeett's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I lost 19 lbs the first month and then it slowed down dramatically. I average about a 5-6 lbs loss each month, which seems ridiculously slow... but it has been consistent and easy, so I don't mind. That slow steady loss has added up to almost 45 lbs now, and I know that it will continue. Your rate of loss will be unique to you. It varies due to a compilation of factors such as: start weight, age, exercise, calorie/carb intake, metabolic factors, etc... There is no magic "you should lose ____ lbs per month" number, however your surgeon/nut should have given you some realistic goals to work towards. Most people seem to lose a nice chunk the first month and then it slows down some. Some are lucky enough to lose large amounts each month and reach goal in a very short time. You just need to follow your surgeons plan and you will be successful! It sounds like you are already doing great! -
Using Syntrax Nectar question
liannatx replied to StephBtoo's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Cappuccino is also my favorite! I mix with Water and add lots of ice... have an iced Cappuccino for Breakfast almost every day. -
Should I cancel my surgery? Help!
liannatx replied to Nibbler's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congrats on the Grandbabies! 1. I already had a Magic Bullet, and it was great for pureeing Soups and such. You really only need it for the week or two that requires purees. 2. Premier Protein ready-to-drink are highly recommended. I personally like the big tubs of Syntrax Nectars. They have a huge variety of flavors and 23g protein for only 100 calories and 0 carbs. My favorite is the Cappuccino flavor and the Fuzzy Navel. -
I need help with breakfast
liannatx replied to MIMISAN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Because I am not hungry (at all) for breakfast I usually do end up doing the Protein drink. Like @CloserToFine I have also made some of the little egg muffins for those mornings that I do want something solid. My favorite are with green chilies, ham, and cheese... yum! -
How long before you went back to work after your band to sleeve revision?
liannatx replied to adnlyn's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Had it on a Monday, went back the following Monday. I was tired but not in any real pain, and I felt better getting out of the house and back into routine. I tend to heal really fast though, and have a freakishly high pain tolerance.
