getting tired of this stuff need new ideas puree stage
liannatx replied to TheNewME71's topic in Purée (stage 2)
I loved chicken salad in the soft/mushie/puree stage. Canned chicken breast, some fat-free Ranch, and a little relish. Mash up with a fork. Super easy, tasty, filling, and easy on the tummy. High Protein too. Others favorites: Refried Beans with some grated sharp cheddar and salsa. Ground turkey with a little spaghetti sauce (no pasta), Ricotta cheese with marinara, Tilapia seasoned with a little lemon pepper, Cottage cheese with a teaspoon of sugar-free orange Marmalade and some Stevia, Cottage cheese with Salsa, Tuna salad, soft Scrambled egg with cheese or salsa, Ground turkey with taco seasoning, topped with cheese and salsa -

Protein Suggestion!
liannatx replied to sbagby1960's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do mine in a 20oz tumbler and fill with ice. It stays cold and tasty for hours... I tend to drink my morning iced Syntrax Cappuccino in about an hour though. -
Walk, walk, walk... a heating pad and GasX can help too! Congrats and speedy recovery!

Sad story today in local paper about 800lb man
liannatx replied to Margie122's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
So sad. It sounds like his dad wants to help, but I bet he is the enabler. I hope they both find help. -
I will have to try the roasted beets, sounds good... I will just be forewarned and prepared for pink urine. I flippin LOVE roasted Brussel sprouts, we have them just about every week. I would probably like the beets too.

@Babbs@OutsideMatchInside I am also a big fan of zucchini noodles. I bought a Veggetti at Bed,Bath & Beyond just to make them. So good with Pasta sauce!

Wow, I just googled that! It has 17 g carbs... but 12 of those are from Fiber. For 25 g Protein that is actually pretty darn good. I noticed it only has 2 ingredients: organic Black Beans, Water. I really like that too. I wonder what it tastes like? It does have great reviews on Amazon... I may have to try this.

Flopping and Jiggling
liannatx replied to Stephanie Stroup McIntosh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maidenform makes some fabulous control leggings. They are only $14 on Amazon. I mean, they fit amazing and really look cute. I wear them under tunics and dresses, but they would make great workout wear. I am sad they only come in black... I would buy a pair in other colors. They aren't semi-sheer when you bend over like some are : ) Maybe try a pair of those, and a compression tank over the top, and the double layer would provide enough control and support. -
Band to sleeve revision scheduled for October 20th.
liannatx replied to mbmoore2518's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had a very easy recovery from band removal, I mean super easy... like I felt great within days. I had another easy recovery from the Sleeve too. However, I did feel more tired and run down after this surgery. I went back to work in 7 days, but I was pretty beat when I got home. For me it was comparable to the lapband surgery. Rough for about 3 days, and then exponentially better each day after that. I sure wish I had just had the sleeve to begin with! It would have spared me 2 surgeries... Good luck with your upcoming surgery, it is one of the best decisions I have made. -
Fabulous! You look incredible.

7 weeks post op and still doing 2 shakes per day
liannatx replied to shellyd67's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost 7 months and still do a Protein drink for breakfast every morning. If my daily protein isnt at my goal I will have another one between dinner and bedtime... -
I had Steri strips and no drains. Healed beautifully.

I love the Syntrax fruit flavors mixed with Water. The Lemonaide, strawberry Kiwi, Fuzzy Navel, etc... don't even taste like a Protein drink, but provide 24 g protein for just 100 calories and 0 carbs. Mix in a 20 oz insulated tumbler and topped with lots of ice and I am a happy camper!

At 2 months I think I was at about 700 calories a day. A common goal is 80 g Protein and less than 40 g carbs. I was drinking 2 Protein drinks a day (often 1 in place of breakfast) 3 tiny meals and 2 Snacks. A typical day would be: Syntrax Cappuccino for Breakfast, 2 oz of cottage cheese snack, chicken salad for lunch, Sliced turkey breast lunch meat or string cheese snack, and Tilipia with 2-3 bites of veggie for supper. I usually had a second Protein Drink around 8 or so. I didnt really start eating much veggies until around 3-4 month, just because my capacity for food was so small. Now I do my meals about half protein and half veggies, and have a protein drink if my protein is looking low for the day.

I bought a bunch of the little 4oz Rubbermaid containers from Walmart. In the beginning I measured out 2 oz onto a small plate, but soon found it very convenient to just use one of the little containers and fill it half full. They are very handy for taking leftovers, cottage cheese, chicken or tuna salad, etc... for lunch. I still use them all the time. I can eat more now, 3 to 3.5 oz at a time, and they still work perfectly... I just fill them almost full now. As for actually weighing food, I also bought a flat digital food scale at Walmart. I think it was $20. You just set your plate/bowl/glass on it and then tare the scale to zero, it will give you the weight of whatever amount of food you put in it. This is also super convenient and easy to use.

Will seasonal allergies prevent surgery?
liannatx replied to mlstrom28's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dont see any reason that they would cancel over allergies. Good luck and congrats on your surgery day! -
CarbMaster or Kroger yogurt
liannatx replied to anthonyc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dannon Light & Fit Greek yogurt is very good. It has 80 calories for 12g Protein and 7g sugar. You can find it in almost any grocery store. -
How do you keep your protein shakes cold while sipping on them ?
liannatx replied to Dub's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use powder from a tub, so I mix mine in an insulated tumbler and add ice. Stays nice and cold. -
Can't Figure This All Out…Need Help!
liannatx replied to ItsTheNewMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Are you taking an acid reducer? If not, It is very very common to take Prilosec for the first 3-6 months after surgery. Too much stomach acid can cause nausea, rumbling, hunger feelings... without actually causing GERD. It can be especially problematic while eating and right after. You can get generic Omeprazole over the counter, it certainly wont hurt and might help. Like others have said it is probably good to start off with a Protein drink... it will provide nutrition for energy and get some fluids in at the same time. Some people do better with room temp drinks, and some do better with ice cold, so it might be good to experiment there. Carry a glass or bottle of whatever around and sip on it continuously. At this stage protein and fluids are more important than meals in regaining your energy. Hope your doc or nut have a solid solution to get you feeling better. -
