Is it better to get your band out first?
liannatx replied to DonnaMaria's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon said there was a 50/50 chance that he would be able to do the revision in one surgery. In my case, once he got in there to remove the band there was too much adhesion and scar tissue for him to feel comfortable doing the sleeve at that time. He cleaned out as much as he could and did band removal. He advised waiting several months to let my stomach recover a more normal shape, and to let me heal, and then we did the sleeve 5 months later. I would have preferred to have it done all in one surgery... but in this instance I valued his medical expertise and opinion more than my own convenience! -

Syntrax Nectars mixed with water over lots of ice!!! -
I was fine on full liquids, after weeks of clear liquids I was in heaven! I was not satisfied (full feeling) until I started pureed and soft solids. That was a game changer!

Going back to work after surgery!
liannatx replied to haleymarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was off for a week, but i seem to have a high pain tolerance and heal quickly. -
I get what you mean, but I don't have that problem at all! The second it is too big to wear it goes into my donate pile. I can't stand having a closet full of clothes that I cant wear, and it is too frustrating to dig through 10 pairs of black pants and have to look at size labels to find the pair that isn't too big, lol. Simplify, and toss or donate if you can't wear it!

Creamed out

I loved Cambell's Bean & Bacon Soup thinned down and pureed. It tastes so hearty. -
I love Tilipia. Sometimes I do it Blackened, but usually just sprinkle with some Lemon & Herb seasoning. It was one of my first meals on soft foods, and I still find it tasty and easy on the stomach.

Try posting in the Gastric Sleeve Pre-Op or Post-Op sections. They have more traffic and are more specific to the information you probably want. -
After it is spiraled I just do a quick sautee in a skillet.

These are my absolute favorite Protein drinks. I have the Cappuccino over ice every morning for Breakfast, and keep the single serve Lemonaide, strawberry Kiwi, Fuzzy Navel, etc... in my desk at work. I like that they mix easily with water!

Previous Bander... getting VSG soon... Please talk to me..
liannatx replied to Tracytma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a revision from LapBand. I am very pleased with this little stomach. I am losing slowly, but it is so much better than how I lived with the Band. I was throwing up daily even with my band empty... It had slipped and developed so much scar tissue that removal was the only option. I am losing 1-2 lbs per week, so I am not losing rapidly like some people do but it is pretty steady and I have no doubts that I will make it back down to a healthy weight. I have no regrets. -
Add something to it. vanilla or any flavor of the Torani sugar-free flavorings.... you can get a 12oz bottle at Walmart for about $4.00, I think they are by the coffees usually. It comes in Caramel, Vanilla, Hazlenut, Rasberry, Toffee, strawberry, etc...

You should be fine being on the borderline with a pre-existing condition... but I am not familiar with BCBS.

What body type do you have after your weight loss?
liannatx replied to Healthy_life2's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Hourglass. Even fat I had a smaller waist and bigger hips and top... I seem to gain and lose proportionally. -
Sure! I live in Deer territory, and Venison Chili is a stable in the winter... sleeve or not!

I was opening my car door and my ring flew off my hand! I came home and looked on Ebay or Amazon (HSN? I don't remember) and bought a Rhodium/Silver CZ set that looks almost identical to my original ring. I think it was about $100. I am still wearing it, it is almost prettier than my real set. When I lose to goal I will have my rings sized.... they are very sentimental.

I have joined you! Hug me and lets do a Happy Dance! Feels great to reach such a BIG milestone!

LOW metabolism - sleeve or bypass
liannatx replied to bhopeful's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 48, with PCOS, Insulin Resistance, and menopausal. My metabolism is not prime. I am losing slowly with the sleeve... very slowly. However, I am losing and NOT doing the slow gain. I never gained rapidly, but a pound or two added up gradually... and now I am losing gradually. I feel like if I am losing, anyone can LOL. -
I've found two negatives from major weight loss!
liannatx replied to Elode's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
LOL! I have to put inserts into all my closed shoes... I don't remember replacing my shoes pair by pair as I gained, but they surely don't fit now! I love my new skinny feet!
