Post op 4 days need help

Yes! I was expecting to have the magical "no hunger". I also felt like I had true gnawing knotted hunger pangs. Not boredom... hunger. I upped my Omeprazole to twice a day and it literally stopped the hunger feelings. I also was able to start on fuller liguids at day 7... so that may have played a role as well. pureed Soups, yogurt, and sugarfree pudding were heavenly at that point. Just know that this stage will pass in a matter of days, be it 7 days or 14 days, you will soon be progressing to the next stage of foods and be able to have some smart filling options. Hang in there!
  2. Yes! It stopped completely when I had Lapband removal surgery in Oct 2014. I had missed one period in 2014 and thought that I might be in the beginnings of menopause. I had my period the week I had my Lapband removed... and haven't had one since. I thought the Sleeve might make some hormones kick in... but nope, haven't even spotted in one year. I am so glad to be done with that mess, but think it is a little odd to be in full menopause at 48.

    Help

At 5 weeks I was eating mostly soft foods, and incorporating more solids. I weighed 2oz of solids when I started adding them (per MY dr.'s guidelines)... which helped me immensely from over estimating my capacity for them. They are much more filling and dense than the softer foods. I didn't add red meat until about 2 months, but some people can digest it easily very early on. Some things I remember being easy and satisfying: chicken salad or tuna salad, Tilipia or any baked fish, Scrambled egg with cheese and salsa, Ground turkey made into taco meat and chili, shrimp and scallops, cottage cheese, zuchinni noodles with ground turkey spaghetti sauce rotisserie chicken was really moist and easy for me Deli sliced turkey breast or chicken rolled up with half slice of cheese, mini-quiches... egg, sausage, cheese baked in mini muffin tins Cauliflower mashed with cream cheese and bacon bits As @@Inner Surfer Girl asked, are you taking a PPI? If I don't take Omeprazole I get a gurgling rumbling feeling that mimics hunger pains. I also feel bubbly and burpy, and sometimes downright nauseated, when eating or drinking if I am not consistently taking it.

    Really Struggling Post-Surgery-Need Help!

Are you taking an acid reducer? If not, stomach acid could be causing the sore throat and nausea. If you aren't taking a PPI ask your doctor if that might help. As for not being able to eat 4 oz... I couldnt either. I was able to easily get my fluids in, but on soft foods 2 oz was what I weighed out and ate per meal (per my Dr. guidelines). 2oz was pretty much my capacity for the first 2 months,,, even now at 7 months I can only eat about 3.5 oz of meats and solids. The most important thing right now is to work on your Fluid intake. Sip on liquids all day, your body can use fat stores for energy, but it cant make the 64+ oz of fluid you need to be getting. Dehydration will make you feel weak and awful.

    Heartburn!

I was sent home with a prescription for a PPI. I now just buy generic Omeprazole... I still take it.
  10. I like the Isopure tea flavor, but only mixed 1/2 and 1/2 with a glass of real tea and with lots of ice. I love love love the Syntrax Nectars. I like the fruit flavors mixed with Water. I love the Cappuccino flavor and that is my Breakfast drink most mornings. I drink them out of an insulated tumbler with a straw and I think not smelling that Protein drink smell makes them taste better, but really most of the fruit flavors are like Jolly Ranchers. The Crystal Sky flavor is just like a Blue Rasberry Jolly Rancher and the Green Apple is just like the green ones : )

    How long for clear liquids?

I had one week of clears, one of full liquids, one week of pureed, one of soft solids. At 4 weeks I was able to start eating regular solid foods.
  12. I think I came home 11 lbs heavier, I dont remember for sure I just recall being shocked at the amount! My skin looked beautiful, lol. I was so hydrated and full of fluids it was like baby skin. It dropped off quickly that first week, and the second week showed a pretty big loss. It will even out.
  13. Yes!!!! I had the band for almost 10 years!!! This is so much better. The band was not good for me, it slipped and developed scar tissue. I spent the last 2 years at goal puking and dehydrated, until it was removed. Horrible. This is no maintaince and for life!

PO day 4 - GERD pain

I had it horribly.... I woke up burping up acid. I was told to double my Omeprazole to a dose in the morning and a dose in the evening. Did the trick. Now at 7 months I just take one daily.

    Chest Pain?

Gosh, if they think it is Gallbladder... just have it taken out.
  16. I was allowed full liquids. Are you? You didnt specify? I mostly added pureed soups: Cream of chicken, Bacon with Bean, Cream of mushroom, etc... Also: Yogurt, sugar-free pudding cups, Protein shakes, Thin oatmeal with a scoop of Protein powder, etc...

    Girls Night Out!

"Gosh I had a late lunch... I just want some Soup or something". People really never notice that much once the food gets there. We all just focused on eating and conversation!

    What's for breakfast?!

I am a non-traditional breakfast person. In the past it would be anything from leftover pizza to a bowl of chili... if i didn't skip it completely (85% of the time). I am making a point to have "something" for breakfast every single day. My go-to is still coffee then a Syntrax Cappuccino to-go. Several days a week I will skip that when I have dinner leftovers. For instance, today I took a container of 6oz of Beef Fajitas for lunch/breakfast (and Yes I still weigh it, lol). I had my coffee : ) at home, and when I got to school at 7:15 I ate half of my portion of Fajitas, and for lunch the other half. I also love Tilipia for breakfast, and when we cook that for supper I make extra so I have some for the next days breakfast and lunch. My other favorite is chicken salad. I love that on sliced cucumbers, and if I make it for lunch I will take enough to eat some for breakfast when I get to work.

    Small bougie

Mine is 32. I think i have read that statistically it doesn't make much difference over the long term in regards to % of weight loss. The difference in diameter of the bougie is a matter of mere millimeters.
  20. I love CeraVe too. I buy the tub at Walgreens for about $10. One of the few creams that takes away that dry crepey look from my hands. Coconut oil is one of favorite standbys as well.

    Whey Protein

I used them the week I was on Clear liquids. I mixed half a tube with a glass of ice Water. (I switched to Syntrax Nectars as soon as i progressed to full liquids.) There is some controversy over whether you absorb the Protein blend as efficiently as pure whey protein, but I healed very fast and had no problem at all with them. They are very convenient and a good way to get in protein in the beginning. The bottles of Isopure are also good on the clear liquid phase, and come highly recommended. Those are also better diluted a little and over ice.

    Sleeve revision

I went to Dr. Alvarez for my band removal and for my Sleeve. I have nothing but good things to say about the entire experience. I chose him because of his reputation, and because I personally know 5 people he has done the surgery on... he was highly recommended to me. Location is a factor for some people, are you looking at any specific area of Mexico? I am in Texas, so it was just a 4 hour drive for me, but that can also play a role in what surgeons are a better option.

    lapband to ?

I am a revision from Band. I really researched both the Sleeve and Bypass before making a choice. You need to do the same and see which one you are comfortable with. Both are effective, it really comes down to your preference... unless your Dr says you arent a candidate for one or the other. No one should have to talk you into either. Do some research and make an informed decision. Have you consulted a surgeon? That first consultation would be a good place to start.
