Favorite Holiday Meal Hacks? Anyone want to share?
liannatx replied to OKCPirate's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
Our holiday is ridiculous. My mother is deathly allergic to eggs, strawberries, and tomatoes. Gravy, stuffing, Desserts, and sides are made to code! We stick to the Southern basics: turkey, ham, stuffing, cranberries, yams, black olive dish, deviled eggs, etc... Lots of great options! -
Is this like Jersey beef! I love this typo... lol

The mock Baked Potato casserole is great. It is ridiculously good, and travels well. Any search will give you varaties on the same recipe for it. Basically mashed cauliflower with cream cheese, bacon bits, and green onion or chives. Surprisingly good and most everyone loves it. Deviled eggs. I put the boiled egg halves in a container, and the deviled egg yolk in a ziplock bag. Snip off a tiny end of the ziplock when ready and squeeze into the eggs when ready to prepare them. This one is a really easy prep! Asparagus bundles grilled with a bacon wrap! Looks fancy too. Roasted Brussel Sprouts!

Girl, go get that stricture dilated again! There is no need to be so limited and miserable if they can help alleviate some of the physical aspect of it. I cant imagine how miserable if what you do/can eat causes dumping. and.... are you seeing a therapist? You sidestepped answering that, but I believe from prior posts that you are? If not, make sure that you aren't using the surgery/dumping to feed into the eating disorder. I think you look fabulous, but if you don't feel fabulous what is the point?

I love an electric blanket! A cold winter night, and it makes the best sleep ever for me. It does make getting up in the mornings hard though : )

May have bit off more than I can chew......hobby related fun on the way !

Sounds like great goals. It is so much better to look forward to all the things you will enjoy again, instead of missing all the things you once could do! -
Are you taking a PPI for the heartburn? Most doctors prescribe one for the first few months, but if not Prilosec or Zantac are readily available OTC and will relieve the heartburn and reflux. A laxative may help with other issues, but it wont relieve the acid production in your tummy. If you are having acid production problems you should contact your doctors office and get the okay to take a PPI... or increase the dose if you are taking one and it isn't working. Hang in there, this will all pass super fast and be a distant memory!

I made a Nest in the bed with pillows! sleeping on my back, with 2 pillows under my shoulders/neck/head and one on each side as armrests was the only way I could sleep on my back.

Thanks. Makes me jealous, lol! I just slug along and the weight slowly goes down, I so wish it would it would just drop off in big chunks. I will turtle my way to the finish line though... persistence and determination.

Omeprazole. I was sent home with a weeks worth of Ranitidine (Zantac) and instructions to take a PPI for 3-6 months I started with the generic Prilosec and take it twice a day... Well, I actually only take it once a day now, in the evening. Around 6 months I noticed that skipping one didn't make much difference, but not taking the evening one still resulted in a gurgling, burping, rumbling tummy... but not actual GERD. So I still take an OTC Omprezole once a day.

Are you on soft foods/mushies? It doesn't have to be applesauce.... Thinned out refried Beans were amazeballs at that stage. Better with a little grated sharp cheddar! -
191 lbs this morning. Still turtling my way down.

Chicken cakes with cilantro garlic mayo
liannatx replied to sarahbethemails's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
I live in Texas and never in my life have I heard of a "chicken Cakes", but it sounds kinda like a Salmon Patty, only with chicken! I am now thinking that would be a great thing to do with leftover chicken.... if it tasted good to me. I wonder if I could use (no carb) crushed pork rinds to bind it like I do with meatloaf? I may have to try this. Leftover Chicken in my house goes into Quesadillas for my Hunny, or Chicken salad for me!! I would still be willing to try these, mostly because there is Cilantro somewhere in the ingredients : ) -

Protein intake vs. being full?
liannatx replied to ForLfKlovr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Listen to your stomach, Don't overeat it! If you don't have enough Protein after Breakfast and lunch, have a protein drink around 3 or 4 to give your body what it needs... then have the regular dinner. -
Where to buy isopure?
liannatx replied to susan1349's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For what it is worth... I shied away from the Ready-to-Drink bottles at first... because they are pricey! Like $3 or $4 dollars a bottle in my area. But when you realize you are spending Zero on food it isn't much of an expense, lol. My biggest tip is that they can be very tart, and mixing half with Water and ice lets you spread a bottle into two much more palatable servings! -
3 days b4 surgery and got a bad cold
liannatx replied to monica36's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you have fever too? I think that after 48 hours it will have passed the bad/contagious stage. They pump you full of antibiotics anyhow, and I have heard several people say that their surgeon went forward with surgery when they had a full blown cold. Tuesday is 3 days away! Calm your nerves, you will be fine!!! -
@smcbee79 Did your Dr put you on a PPI? Mine sent me home with a 7 day course (and instructions to take for the first 3 months) When the 7 days ran out I started getting ridiculous hunger and rumbling feelings, along with nausea. My DH went and got some OTC Omeprazole and the hunger, gurgles, and nausea stopped. Just a possibility if you aren't already taking something.

I have done that drinking liquids... had a hot-flash effect within minutes. I thought it was because I drank a little too much too fast. It doesn't happen often, and for me it is always with drinking Water or liquids.
