So I want to hear stories...

I got the surgery December 23, 2015. I started at 283 and now weigh 218. I have been at a plateau only loosing Off and on a pound or so here and there with a total of about 10 lbs in the past 5 weeks. BUT inches are just flying off. I'm 5'10 so 218 isn't so bad. My doctors goal is 185 my personal goal I would like to be around 175. I'm working hard to get past this slow loosing stage. But, I feel SO much better! Not sleepy all the time, no longer shop in the plus size section, foot feels so much better and everyone telling me how good I look. People even I never talked to that I would just see working at my normal grocery stores! I'm only a little over 3 months out I can only imagine how 12+ will be..

POST OP (6 + months) Questions

Have you tried avocado? Avocado with a little lime has helped me so much! I'm a little over 4 weeks and things that I have tried that has helped me and my NUT said was fine. But make sure to check with yours first Avocado Vitamin Water Propel Fairlife milk Popsicles Mashed potatoes and gravy (I try not to eat to much because of the high carbs but my surgeon said it was a good way to change from puréed food to soft) Also pinto Beans and cheese from Taco Bell ???? (I know I'm gonna get a lot of crap for that one) BUT it helps me fee like I'm able to eat "real" food lol. But anytime something upset my sleeve I go back to avocado! For a little bit. A little lemon in my water helped me drink a lot more I couldn't stomach Protein shakes for some reason so the fairlife milk helped so much! So fairlife milk is my source of protein for the most part besides I "try" to eat an egg in the morning. Don't be afraid to try and ad moisture to your food also like a little gravy milk light sour cream or light mayo. Maybe the foods are to dry and that upsets your tummy.. Right now it's a learning game. I am so overwhelmed by protein intake. I know I'm not meeting it. But we will get there! Hang in there! Hope your doing better.

    Me

  6. Wednesday will mark 3 weeks for me. My start weight was 283 surgery date weight 270 and for the past week I have been between 250 and 253. I have gone up and down between those weights. My doctor cleared me for soft foods last Wednesday so I thought that would help get things moving. I'm frustrated because I hit a "stall" a few days before 2 weeks and now I'm hearing about a normal 3 week stall. I'm not noticing anymore NSV witch is frustrating to. Actually felt bloated the last couple of days. I'm also having an on and off again horrible pain on my left side closer to rib cage. Doctor said he has no idea what it could be but possible kidney stone. Also worried because I have NO problems with any fluids. I can drink a lot just have to remind myself to. And haven't gotten sick from any food I've tried. Yesterday and today I have felt hungry really for the first time also. ????. I have anxiety pretty bad and I think I'm over thinking all this so much! Any advise would be great. Thanks so much!

    December Sleevers?

I'm in Texas and only my parents and grandparents know. Well and my husband of course. . Everyone else think I just had a hernia repair lol!

    Soft stage

I ate really mashed up avocado with a little lime. My surgeon told me to try to eat one food at a time to see what I can handle. I'm also a bit nervous because I'm pretty sure they told me liquids for 3 or 4 weeks then soft foods but yesterday at 2 weeks they said I could start soft. So I'm starting slow.
  9. I heard that it can be acid reflux. I felt the same way so I took a tums and it helped. I had that feeling everyday about 6 days after surgery. I took a tums for two days and haven't had a problem until today but I tried a lemon in my water today so took another today and was fine after. Tomorrow I will be two weeks out. Hope it helps for you. Bring it up to your doctor by the way. They can prescribe better acid reflux Meds if that's what it is

My doctor also said I can have cream of wheat, jello, and any puréed soup including broccoli and cheese soup. Does that sound right to you?
