Husband's breaking furniture due to weight, but still refuses surgery?
Lemm61 replied to Comfy_Blue's topic in The Lounge
Almost seems like he is having a passive-aggressive reaction to your weight loss and new good health. I hope he figures it out for himself before he loses you and has a major health crisis. -
So the endoscopy revealed a large hiatal hernia and a duodenal ulcer! I have to be on ulcer meds and a med for acid reflux for 6 weeks and then have a repeat Endoscopy. Surgeon says a gastric sleeve would not be a good option for me with that large of a hiatal hernia. He still sees the gastric bypass as possible but the ulcer must be healed first. Disappointing but hopefully the ulcer will heal and I'll still be a candidate. No surgery in April though. Maybe May.

Endoscopy done! It was no problem. One step closer to getting surgery!

Oh! Tell me about that! How expensive? How painful? Is it permanent or does it have to be done over and over again?

NO pre-op diet? How much did you lose?
Lemm61 replied to dlfnjgirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Agree with all of the above. My surgery is scheduled for 6/1. I've been doing a high protein low carb diet since 1/7. I'm glad to be through that carb withdrawal. Still working on giving up Diet Coke. Down from 4 cans a day to 2. Mostly I feel like food doesn't have the control over me that it had. I figure not having to deal with those issues immediately post op can only benefit me. Plus I've gone from 223 lbs to 200 lbs. -
Looking for people who are just starting the bariatric process

I'm about 3 months out too. Scheduled for June 1st. I have my endoscopy on Friday and will complete my required supervised Diet on May 1st. I was not thrilled about the 3 month requirement but I've actually lost 20 lbs since 1/7 and I feel like it has helped me get control of my bad eating habits. So win-win. -
Oh my goodness, a size 2? I can't even imagine.....

I love the idea of non food treats. New shoes, mani pedi, afternoon matinee movie alone, flowers, massage, new candle, new perfume. .....

My surgery is scheduled for June 1. Too soon for me to be nervous. I'm good at delaying that kinda of thing til the moment of. Doing the supervised Diet and endoscopy scheduled for March 18. Lost 20 lbs since Jan 7. Woohoo. -
I found it on my iPhone.

Read this. I have no idea whether it would help, but can't hurt! "According to a report published in the Journal of Ethnobiology and Ethnomedicine, coconut oil has been used for centuries to create a concoction for promoting hair growth. Coconut oil has been traditionally mixed with aloe vera to promote hair growth. To grow longer, healthier hair mix 3 tablespoons of melted coconut oil with 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel. Apply to hair and then sleep with a shower cap. Rinse out with or without an apple cider vinegar (ACV has amazing benefits for your hair), then style as you normally do, with added luster and length!"

Nightshift Nurse too. Thanks for the info. I'm pre op but have been concerned about this issue.

I'm working through my supervised Diet program now. My insurance only requires 3 months but work scheduling issues will bump my surgery to June. My program is through my work's Employee Health. No specific weight loss number, just no gaining and completed weekly food journals and fitness logs turned in to demonstrate understanding of healthier eating habits and increased exercise. Feel pretty good, I'm down 16 lbs since Jan 7th. -
I'm not telling anyone. Friends, Family and People at work know that I'm "actively" dieting now anyway. I've lost 16 lbs since Jan 1st. I'll have a lower BMI by the time I have WLS on 6/1, so I'll probably be a slower loser. I have weird food allergies so people who know me are used to me not eating when out or bringing my own food. I doubt anyone will notice anything different except, hopefully a healthier new me. I live alone so no one to share with on the Homefront. I like it that way. I'm not doing this for anyone but me so it's fine by me if I'm the only one who knows.

I haven't tried the torani sf syrups yet, what flavor have you tried with yogurt? Never thought about the sf jello I need to try it! -

Greek yogurt is good mixed with Torani SF syrups or try SF jello. ❤️???? -
I just did mine. Written part is truly common sense. In the discussion portion, they are looking for several things: how realistic are your expectations, what does your support system look like, how committed are you to the vast changes needed to be successful with diet and exercise. I'd never seen a Psych Doc or been in Therapy, so I was nervous too, but it was really fine.

Has anyone lost 100+ pounds?
Lemm61 replied to provenzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Super inspiring! Thanks for sharing! Doing the three month pre op diet now. Lost 10 lbs so far. Just ordered a Fitbit today. -
So exciting! It's hard wading through all the prerequisites and waiting. I've had my Surgeon appt on 1/7, Psych evaluation, Nutrition consult, EKG, CXR and Labs done. My endoscopy is scheduled for 2/12. I've started my 3 month required supervised diet. I won't be able to have Surgery til 6/1, due to my work schedule, but it's nice to have that date scheduled. I still have to be insurance approved and I worry about that hurdle but in the meantime I'm using this time to make positive changes in my life and research all I can about WLS. Starting stats: 223 lbs/5'2" CW: 216 GW: 123 lbs C'mon June 1st
