Tomorrow is the day- what to bring to hospital!?
Montana Gal replied to ambernoel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with @@kmorri, you don't need much. Chapstick and slip on slippers is all I would have needed. I didn't even look at my phone. -
@@Djmohr, I am so sorry this is happening! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

What Is Your Holiday Party Strategy?
Montana Gal replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
I have my Bunko Christmas party this Wednesday. Like @@higher, I will head to the charcuterie platter. Plus, high Protein appetizers and deviled eggs will be my main course. I won Bunko last month but I am still putting it out in the universe that I will win again! -
Stall-Frequency, strategy, duration-please share
Montana Gal replied to jilani's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have noticed that after the 3 months of healing and the ups and downs of just surgery in general, my stalls happen 1 week out of every month(not related to periods). When the stall begins, I have made it routine to check my food log and adjust my calories, Protein and carbs. Usually I increase my calories a bit, up my protein, decrease my carbs and try and up my Water from 64oz to 80oz. I make an effort to increase my speed on my daily walks. This usually breaks the stall and I begin loosing again. -
I originally wanted the RNY, but after my bariatric surgeon consulted with my other physicians it was decided that VSG would be best due to a chronic disease requiring anti-inflamatories and other medications. 10 months post op and I don't regret my decision to have VSG. My stomach is still here, just smaller. I love the restriction it provides. I am still alarmed daily by the amount of food I used to eat!

Experts, when does the big drop happen?
Montana Gal replied to show1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Slow and steady for me as well, but that's okay, it's coming off! -
Potted meat on the purée stage?
Montana Gal replied to Cander's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
A soft baked white fish, like Swai, was a lifesaver for me during that stage. Bake with lemon juice and fork it a bit to the desired texture. -
Please notify your surgeon and let him/her know this is happening. Wish I could give better advice... .but at three weeks, depending on your plan, you should be able to keep hydrated and work towards your protein goal. Please call them.

We have an amazing Goodwill where I live, love it! I have two large bags of clothes to donate back this week. I did splurge just before Thanksgiving and bought my first pair of size 18 jeans in the "average size" section of Herbergers. I haven't been that size for over 30 years!

Signed up to the gym
Montana Gal replied to Ninjagogo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Swimming, Water aerobic classes and Nordic Walking classes/groups. For me, it's anything that is "joint friendly." Good for you, keep up the good work! -
Like @theanitchick, my bariatric program allows for NSAIDS due to a chronic illness. When my migraines hit, I can usually think back to what I ate or what I did to bring on the migraine. Such as not realizing something I ate had MSG in it. I try to avoid all the triggers if possible. You were given some great suggestions, talk them over with your surgeon.

My Father is against surgery
Montana Gal replied to Siyaa Ela's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did not tell my father. I am 9 months post op and he still does not know, nor will he ever. When I do see him and he notices my weight loss I will just tell him I am eating a high Protein, low carb diet and exercising more....which is true. My weight has been an unhealthy focus of my father's since I was 14. He is about 1000 miles away, so that makes it a lot easier for me. I understand why it is important to you to have your father's support, but you will do great without it as well. This is your life and yours alone. Best wishes and good luck! -
Could you show us what a day looks like on your food plan? Maybe we can help you better to see what you eat in a day. How many ounces of Water do you get in a day? How many grams of Protein? I was cleared to advance to soft foods on day 10 and from what I remember I didn't start loosing a lot of weight until I reached my water and protein goals and was exercising daily.

Catheter question?
Montana Gal replied to SuperJenn529's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the same fear. I discussed this with my surgeon and promised him I would get out of bed and use the bathroom. He agreed and didn't use a catheter. I got up about 1 hour after getting back to my room without difficulty. Talk to your surgeon about your fear, he/she will work with you. -
i am going to whine about my stall.
Montana Gal replied to ella37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like @@KristenLe said, it's not like dieting. I used to think the exact same way as you during the first weeks post op. I would continuously wonder how it was possible to not loose weight when being absolutely 100% on plan. In the past I would loose like crazy whenever I would diet and go under 1000 calories(but then gain back plus more just as fast). Stick with your surgeon's guidelines and before you know it the scale will move. I agree with @@The New Kel, try on some clothes or take your measurements....you might be surprised! -
@@Nikkinee, yes you can. I have absent mindedly drank my Protein shake too fast and became sick. If I drink my shake slowly, like I am supposed too, I have no problems.

I am one of those rare dumpers as well. Mine happens exactly the way @@LipstickLady described...I get sweats, chills and nausea immediately after ice cream or something with a rich or fatty sauce. I just try to avoid the foods that cause the issue.
