When Obesity Rules our Life
Montana Gal replied to Treadmillwalker's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
"My childhood punishements have become my adult goals." I have never seen or heard it put that way, and it makes sense and sums up the last 20 years. Thanks for posting this, I am going to remember that phrase. -
2 different things! One makes me happy, the other not!
Montana Gal replied to tired mommy0231's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cuddle Duds have become my new best friend, I layer with them daily! I am even happy we went from -2 to 28 degrees today...thank goodness! -
Dear Fairy Godmother or Santa...
Montana Gal replied to Treadmillwalker's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It is amazing, I look back on pictures of myself at 17 and wonder how, why, what and who in the world ever made me think I was fat! Maybe I will figure that one out one of these days. Too bad I didn't know then that I was okay and to enjoy every minute of it instead of constantly trying to fit in and worry about how I looked! -
The emotional roller coaster
Montana Gal replied to doxaholic's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Walking helps keep my emotions in perspective. I walk my dog everyday, snow or no snow:-) I highly suggest it, see if that helps boost some of your natural endorphins. Maybe you will feel a little better, I wish you the best. -
What You Wish Someone Told You Before Surgery
Montana Gal replied to mrsgori101214's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The number one thing I wish I had known before surgery is that I would wake up with horrible pain in my chest and shoulders due to the air they use during surgery. It felt like I was having a heart attack. Walking and more walking helped ged rid of some of it, but it took a few days. -
Drink, Drank, Drunk
Montana Gal replied to BariatricBarbie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only one I can handle is Premiere Protein ready made in banana Cream and vanilla. I have tried them all and even made my own. Best price for them seems to be at Walmart and costco. Good luck. -

Please stop being so hard on yourself, your amazing! -
What's your top 3 "safest" carbs?
Montana Gal replied to The New Kel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I began adding regular old fashioned oatmeal about 8 months post op. Mostly out of wanting something different than eggs, cheese, Protein drink, ect....I do 1/4 cup oatmeal then add 1tbsp chia seeds, 1tbsp hemp seed and a few walnuts. It helps the flavor and adds some protein and good fat as well. I do this only a few times a week when my food log allows for it:-) As far as other carbs, I still stay away from Pasta, rice and bread because they are my weakness. As a treat I do add a serving of Calbee Harvest Snap Peas occasionaly, I am addicted to them so I have to be really careful! Good topic @@The New Kel -
This might be a good time for complete honesty. Do you follow your surgeons plan and don't deviate from it? Do you get in all the required amounts of Protein and Water? Do you eat a dense protein first followed by a veggie? Do you use some form of excersise? If yes to all of these, then call your bariatric team and find out what you need to tweek or change. If no, then you know what you need to do. I know it's hard, but you have made it almost 4 months now and you have time to start now and get it turned around. You can do this, I just don't want you looking back one year from now and wishing you had done it differently. Work with a therapist, a nutritionist, do whatever it takes. If you stay on track, a whole new world will open up to you!

Liquid diet
Montana Gal replied to Charli3baltimor3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Per my surgeon's orders, I used clear Isopure(GNC) in order to get Protein during the pre op liquid phase. Mine was 12 days. It tasted nasty, and believe me I tried at least 5 flavors. But I drank it anyway and it did help with hunger. Good luck and stay focused. You can do this! -
You look great, definitely happier!

Seeing so many people questiong their decision
Montana Gal replied to 50yearoldme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello and welcome! I am 50 and a little over 10 months post op. Wish I'd done this 20 years ago, but at 50 I have no complaints. Best decision I made! Good luck, you will do great! -
When you go into the Reply box down below you will see the "More Reply Options" tab, click that and you can download pictures from any of your galleries. Hope that helps.

Happy Birthday and congratulations! Your picture is adorable and you have that healthy glow!

I treat myself to a cup of Earl Gray tea everyday and use Premiere Vanilla, but remember I am 10 months post op. I drink coffee, and what @@Djmohr wrote seems pretty common around here, whether people put it in coffee or tea, decaffeinated too.

What will you have for Christmas dinner?
Montana Gal replied to sk101's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
We have a family tradition of Fonduing in hot peanut oil. We fondue everything from steak to mushrooms, breaded cauliflower, and tempura batter dipped prawns. But first and foremost is oyster stew before the fonduing begins! I will eat everything, just way smaller amount! -
Who is choosing to keep surgery a secret?
Montana Gal replied to Kila Rass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only person I told was my mom, and if I didn't have to travel 2 hours away for the surgery I would not have told anyone. 10 months post op and still she is the only one who knows:-) -
Willpower and "Decision Fatigue"
Montana Gal replied to gpmed's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Absolutely agree, this is what I took from the article. This is how we can apply it to our everyday bariatric lives. I make all my decisions about my lifestyle in the morning when I am not in "Decision Fatigue." Have the day's food planned out and mostly prepared, except for dinner....but I know what I am going to have. I do this with fitness goals as well. It was a good article. -
The best way for me to describe my Foodie life post op is quality versus quantity. If I am going to have 1/2 cup of food, it's going to be the best I can possibly make or find.

The Ongoing Saga of my Dad & my Surgery
Montana Gal replied to Anna Nim's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keep your head up, stay positive and focused. You are doing what is best for you and you alone. I don't regret my surgery for even a minute. Good luck and best wishes for an uneventful recovery, you will do great! -
Forum members like @@Babbs and @@Bufflehead are veterans that have given the majority of us on here very wise, informed and good intentioned advice. They will not hold your hand while you are doing something harmful to your body. You asked, they gave you a direct answer. If you don't like it, just move on. I am 10 months post op and have taken every grain of wisdom they have offered because they have had such amazing success.

@@The New Kel, I am going to try the Egg Fu Yung recipe....thanks for sharing.

It sounds like your program is following a new approach to the post op bariatric diet. They are definitely using the theories explored in "Forks Over Knives", "food Choices" and "The China Study." The first two are on Netflix. All three encourage plant based Protein instead of animal protein. Keep us informed on how it goes for you, good luck.
