How many surgeons/hospitals did you visit before deciding?
Montana Gal replied to Little Green's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I would consult as many as you need to be comfortable with your decision, whether it's one or four....I am very limited on choices where I live, the nearest one was 2 hours away. I wish I had the opportunity to consult more. Choose the one that makes you feel the most comfortable and the least amount of stress. -

Self pay: unexpected bills

Yes, my lab work and Anesthesiologist were seperate from the surgery bill itself. -

Blowing it, meant to be obese
Montana Gal replied to chavezmommy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You deserve nothing but the best, now and for the rest of your life! Something has happened to you or was said to you to make you believe that you deserve to be obese. Finding a good therapist to help you deal with this belief and change the way you think is so important. This is your life, this is your time! There are some really good videos on YouTube by Brene Brown, Caroline Myss, Susan Pierce Thompson, just to name a few.....plus, so many books on the subject to read as well! You can do this, you are worth it. -
Who is doing everything RIGHT?
Montana Gal replied to anonmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I followed all the "rules" of my food stages to the letter as well. When I made it to 6 months I did try and add a few things back in like Pasta, but found it to be a slippery slope to a place I didn't want to be...so I stopped. I get between 60-80 grams of Protein per day, stay under 50 grams of carbs and drink a minimum of 80oz Water daily. Most of my carbs are from fruit, veggies and yogurt. My weight loss has been a little slow, but steady. Best wishes to you today, you will do great! -
Occasionally we talk about T.V. and movies in the lounge. I just wanted to give my suggestion, "The Crown" on Netflix is amazing! After the last episode was done, I googled to see when Season 2 was coming out. The creator said it will be six seasons, but they have just now started writing the second one. Looks like I must wait, darn! At least "The Affair" on Showtime started up again last Sunday! "The Crown" is a dramatic account of Queen Elizabeth's life and that of her husband, Prince Phillip as well. So good, I highly recommend this show!!!!

Results Not Typical
Montana Gal replied to Elizabeth Anderson RD's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
And with photoshop. --- When I read the thread title I thought this would be about WLS. Sometimes I think there should be a similar article about WLS. "BMI below 25 -> not a typical result". I agree!! -
Potato chip craving? Substitutes?
Montana Gal replied to show1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with @@blizair09, ParmCrisps are really good, you can also make them yourself. I like Moon cheese in the pepperjack flavor. I found them at my local grocery store, they are also available on Amazon. -
It sounds to me like you are dehydrated, are you getting enough liquids in? Take tiny sips all day long. I would call your surgeon and let him/her know of your symptoms just to be on the safe side and for your piece of mind. Dehydration causes lethargy, headaches, nausea and even chest pains. Like you mentioned, big swallows will do it too this early out. Take care and give your surgeons office a call.

I understand, I had second thoughts too, esp. during my 12 day liquid diet. Your emotions are up and down and every which way in between. We have about the same stats. I am 11 months post op and down 81 pounds. It was the best decision I ever made, I wish I had done it a lot sooner. Dig deep down in your heart, write a list of why you are doing it. Then a list of your fears. If you really feel you are not ready and need more time, reschedule it. But if your reasons outweigh your fears, hang in there and stick to the liquid diet. I had the normal feelings of regret and "buyers remorse" a few days after sugery, but by the second week I was feeling like myself again and those feelings went away. You can do this, keep coming back to this site, ask a lot of questions. I wish you the best with your decision.

2 months post-op, experience constipation
Montana Gal replied to zalina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Nurse Pratitioner suggested Natural Calm. You can take it daily and it has other health benefits as well. It's available in most Natural Health stores and it works great. -

That is my favorite way to cook it, it gives it a real nice nutty, earthy flavor!

Two Years Out, Can't Lose...HELP!
Montana Gal replied to Momcat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think you might already have the answer, your Water intake. I notice that I re-start my weight loss when I get at least 85oz-100oz water per day. Maybe try doing that along with your target nutrients. You can do this! -
Wow, thank you for sharing....you look amazing!

It is hard for me to understand the cruelty of others, I am so sorry this happened. You are on your way to a better, healthier life now and that is what matters!!

When I went to be with my brother and his family for Christmas 2014 and my 16 year old niece begged me to wait in the car while she ran into the grocery store. I realized she was embarassed to be seen with me. My heart broke that day. I contacted the nearest Bariatric Clinic when I got home. She graduates this June and it will be 3 years since I have seen her and hope to be down 100# by then. My heart still hurts when I think about it.

Color analysis input (aka failing at girl-fu)
Montana Gal replied to theantichick's topic in The Lounge
@@theantichick, I really like you! You remind me so much of my best friend in nursing school(way back in the 80's). I have become obsessed with my eyebrows. I admit that I have watched many Youtube videos on creating the perfect arch in the brow. Everytime I try to do it my eyebrows look green to me, no matter the color I try. I have decided to just leave them be for now. Good luck, I am sure you will find what works for you. You are beautiful with or without! -
Definitely ask your surgeon as @@heidikat72 suggested. I stopped for 30 days before surgery and was allowed to drink coffee again after one month. I now drink at least 2-3 cups each morning without any problems.

Three month anniversary today
Montana Gal replied to LittleBill's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You look healthy, handsome and happy! Congratulations LittleBill! -
I agree with @@jenn1, you can eat it if it's allowed on your plan, but should you? I am 11 months out today and have kept bread, rice, potatoes and Pasta out of my post op eating. It's a slippery slope for me, once I have it I am so afraid I will want it....a lot of it. I would like to introduce a little whole grain bread and some pasta back into my life when I reach goal and am in maintenence.
