Hey guys Sarah here. New to the app and just wondering if there are any people getting sleeved this month. I would love to keep up with y'alls journey. My surgery is on January 26 so just 3 weeks away.

I was told by my hospital that the 6 months was a requirement. I don't know exactly if it was a requirement for my insurance but just like me they required proof of medical necessity, so there is a possibility they want you to do the six months for better chances of being approved. I actually heard of one patient who had a BMI of 35 and undiagnosed co-morbidities of arthritis and high cholesterol and finally decided to get medication for it but since there was no wait requirement her paper was submitted immediately and she was denied due to no medical history of treatment/illness. PS- My hospital is The Center For Metabolic And Weight Loss Surgery (New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center)

I have health first and I was required to do the 6 month supervised diet.

Hello everyone! My name is Sarah/19/New York and I'm currently pre-op for vsg dated for January 26 and I'm new to bariatric pal. I was just wondering if anyone wanted to add me to Fitbit (smarcelin2014@hotmail.com). I just purchased a charge hr and I think it would be nice to have a group of supporters.

I had to go through the 6 month requirement. My insurance didn't specify how much I had to lose, to be honest when I started my journey in December 2014 I was at 295, today about 3 weeks pre op I hover around 310-320. So I essentially gained weight. I was scared that I wouldn't be approved but I guess all they needed was to see that I did try and along with my co-morbidities that it was a no brainer approval.
