What is your barometer for reaching goal ? May have found mine........
BrnAgn39 replied to Dub's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congratulations! You look terrific! I was in the military for 8 years so all of my "older" clothing and jackets are long gone but I do have a pair of boots that would be awesome to fit in again (they don't zip past my calves). I'm so ready for this surgery! -
Reporting from my hospital bed
BrnAgn39 replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
So I am having surgery tomorrow and I can't get rid of this severe nausea. Fun times! I can't drink anything without gagging. Its my darn migraine. I need crackers to settle my tummy or I will be puking all day. My bariatric clinic is closed today too so I can't calk and beg them for help. So anyway., I just needed to vent. Maybe I can attempt to nap. -

Anyone having surgery Feb. 15th?
BrnAgn39 replied to songsmith's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Feb 16 for me! My surgeon doesnt require a liquid pre op. Its a very cut and dry menu of low carbs/high protein that requires a food scale to be sure that we don't eat more than we are supposed to. I miss coffee! -

Advice that makes you crazy.
BrnAgn39 replied to RoscoColetrain's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If someone you don't know well ask you for your weight or how much you have lost just say "Please google Nunya Bidness. That should answer your question." -
I have BCBS FEP Standard insurance and I was told that I have to pay a $200 fee for a night in the hospital but I haven't received the quote from the surgeon's fee. Does anyone want to share information about how much they paid out of pocket for this type of insurance? I see plenty of answers for Basic FEP but not for Standard. I realize the cost will all vary according to the cost of the surgery, I am just looking for a few numbers to compare. Thanks in advance!

I have a very LOW metabolism- but, I want the sleeve...help!
BrnAgn39 replied to ejirish's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I can't speak from much experience because I haven't been through surgery yet but I feel like the sleeve can be used as a reset button and tool so that we can apply all we have learned about changing our lifestyle. -

I thought the same thing until I started meeting with my NUT and realized it was what i was eating. I was skipping meals and eating too fast. I've learned so much from the NUT and I realized that two different meals can have the same calories but the fat content, sodium, fiber, etc also have a lot to do with weight loss and health. -
The struggle is real and life long

Girl, you are gorgeous! Thanks for being honest and sharing your experience. When I first heard of weight loss surgery, I thought it was the magic solution to my weight issues. I realize now how much hard work it is and the changes I am going to need to make in my lifestyle. You have done an excellent job. Congrats and keep up the hard work. -
"My Diet is Better than Your Diet" -- random rambling...
BrnAgn39 replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
I busted out laughing when I read your post. Show her girl! I agree, my money is on you. I lost 12 pounds with Weight Watchers and then gained it all back in no time. I am ready for my sleeve! -
My NUT noticed that a big part of my problem is skipping meals and apparently this can completely throw off your metabolism (I had never given it much thought) I am going to start setting my phone alarm to remind me to eat something small every few hours. I have a friend who had the band and skipped meals because she either wasn't hungry or she was trying to lose as fast as possible. She ended up in the hospital again from dehydration and lack of appropriate nutrients. I imagine its difficult to stop for a bite to eat when you have so much going on. Remember to take care of you You are in my prayers.

Waking to go in to my Bod Pod body fat analysis appt
BrnAgn39 replied to Margie122's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I've never heard of a Bod Pod but it sounds really cool. I have no idea what my ideal weight or body fat is so I just picked a number as a goal. I probably should have chosen 155 or 160 because that was my weight for a long time before I gained all my fluff. Have fun at the gym! You are going to do great! -

First Meeting with Surgeon Tomorrow, confused and nervous
BrnAgn39 replied to reachbree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was really nervous when I met with my surgeon but he answered all of my questions and he was very understanding. I am waiting for the insurance approval but I am nervous that they will deny me becaused I gained weight over the past few weeks. I will have to just deal with the challenges as they come I suppose. Good luck! -

Wish I hadn't Told Some...
BrnAgn39 replied to WalkOnWaking's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Most of the peop,e who have been against it in my experience are people who have lost weight "the old fashioned way" and expect everyone else to do the same. Been there, done that, got all 70 tshirts and I still couldn't do it "their way" I continue to gain and my health is at risk every day I am morbidly obese. I owe no one an explanation and if they don't agree then too bad. I do think that some people genuinely care but only know about the negative, which is human nature to focus on, so I educate them on the positive and continue on my journey with or without them by my side.
