  1. I will be praying for you. I only had headaches for the first few days of my two weeks, it was hard letting go off my beloved caffeine. Tomorrow I start my clear liquids only for three days, I am also scheduled for the 1st.

    Favorite Protein Powder?

I like syntrax nectar twisted cherry and chocolate truffle. I also like the isopure unflavored, great to add to smoothies or foods.

    February 2016 sleevers?

@@prettyCali916 Same here, I didn't break the 200's until 2011 or 2012. You only have to do clear the day before?? You are lucky, I was put on two week liquid pre op diet with the last three days before surgery clear liquids only. Let's get this done, one week to go!!!
  6. Ok I understand why you shouldn't drink 30 min before and after eating. I am having trouble accomplishing this. How do you guys not do this? I am getting much better but I am wondering if anyone has any tips to make this easier. Am I the only one having trouble with this one? My surgery is in a week and I need to get better with this one.

    Drinking with meals?

@@Jack Oh ok I googled soda crackers...lol. I did eat those but only in soup or chili. I couldn't ever eat them dry, still can't today.

    Drinking with meals?

@@Jack I really hope that after the surgery it's a little easier for me. I am not quite sure what a soda cracker is, lol. I'm sure I will make it a habit soon. I have gotten it down to maybe half a glass of water from two diet cokes. At least it's progress...????

    Drinking with meals?

@@Proud2BMe 30 minutes isn't the problem, it's the 30 minutes before, the 45 minutes during and the 30 minutes after...lol. Some people just have a difficult time not following a bite of food with a sip of drink, I am one of them. I did try the no drink at all but eventually grabbed Hubby's drink, felt like the food was stuck in my throat. Maybe it's a mental thing with me. @@AvaFern If it keeps going like this I will be right there with ya. Congrats on meeting and maintaining your goal. I have surgery on Feb 1st, so I am at the worry about everything phase. Thank you for letting me know that if I fail at the no eat and drink rule that it is still possible to reach my goal. I am gonna give it my best effort though. Still have a week to try to train myself @@jj7481 I hope you are right, maybe I am focusing too much on not having that sip between bites. I am gonna continue working on it. I have had zero problems with the liquids, giving up coffee and diet coke, giving up junk food. This is the only trouble spot I've had. I have just been trying it and it's the hard part for me...lol. Just a habit I guess, I'll get it right eventually

    Feb. 1st Surgery Date!

Oh! Gotcha! Makes sense that you'll be staying longer! In that case, I really think they will give them to you as vitamins are very important post op. Keep us posted! Coffee was hard but I had started cutting back in November - that's how much time I needed. Now I'm ok - it's just head cravings. On top of that, my adhd prescription helps out with focus and energy... The diet has been hard a little though. I kept thinking of things I "forgot" to eat lol but I finally told myself that these things will be there once I reach goal and for now I just write them down on a list which really helps! Oh I wish I would have started giving up things sooner...nooo I had to just stop cold turkey. I didn't think that far ahead. I did start keeping up with my food and Water in a daily food journal on my phone, I'm doing ok with that. You sound like you are ready to go, I know I am. ❓❓Ok guys, fun question!!⁉️ What's the first thing you want to do when the weight comes off?? I am going skydiving again????

Tijuana | Alo Bariatric Center - http://www.alobariatriccenter.com/tijuana/ Thanks for the reply, I am excited and nervous all at once. The only one going with me is my mom, neither of us know any Spanish. Time to download a translator on my phone.

Kristen's Journey From Pre-Op and Beyond

Yes, my PCP is completely supportive of my decision. Reading your journey has got me so excited to start mine. The first just can't get here quick enough. How was the environment at the hospital there? I am worried about having a language barrier.

I was in corrections for 17 yrs myself, tough job. How'd you get out of it?! I've been in five, going on six years, and I feel like this is where I am going to stay even if I get tired of it! I finally just had enough, the politics were eating me up. I started putting in for other jobs I was interested in. I got a job with a wonderful pipeline company and I have never looked back. I love my job now, only regret is that I waited so long. It does trap you, I thought I was doomed. My parents both retired from corrections, one was a warden and one a major. My younger brother is a pharmacist in corrections. Just start looking for something you may be interested in and put in resumes. It may take a bit but eventually it will happen.

    Feb. 1st Surgery Date!

@@prettyCali916 I hope they give me Vitamins while I'm there, I need to ask them. I will be in hospital for two days and in recovery for two days. I am having my sleeve done in Tijuana so that is why I stay a bit longer. How is everyone doing on their pre diet? The hardest part for me was giving up my coffee, ughhh . I am definitely not a morning person. What has been the hardest part for you guys?

  19. I have never tried the Bariatric Advantage brand, I just went on Amazon and found the protien with the best reviews. Wow, a whole year of phone calls ????. I got tired of fighting with my insurance after a couple of months, I am headed to Tijuana. I am so happy you were able to rough it out and get your date. I have looked but unfortunately there are no support groups around me so you guys are my support group. I can see by reading thru these posts that I have an awesome spot to come for support.

    Feb. 1st Surgery Date!

@@Brown Suga Good idea with the extension cord. I drug my bag out weeks ago...lol. I haven't done my pics and measurements yet but I do know I need to go get a pedicure before the surgery. I've never had one before and I don't want anyone laughing at my funky feet while I'm unconscious. I already have a cell and ipad charger in there, oh and some slippers for the hospital walks. I borrowed a pair of maternity pants for the trip home if I need them. For Vitamins I found some liquids vitamins, one for day and one for night. A friend told me that liquid vitamins have a better absorption rate than pills. Also got some liquid Tylenol, some have said they have allot of trouble swallowing the caplets. I have bought some protien powder and some protien Water. I also got some Biotin and callogen because they help improve the elasticity in skin. Might help with the loose skin some, never hurts to try. I am going grocery shopping tomorrow for some broth and liquids for the first week or two after surgery. I'll go get my next step foods when its time. If they are here I may be too tempted to eat them while I'm on liquid stage. I didn't get this way because of my strong willpower ???? I even bought some Nioxin shampoo and conditioner because many have said that while it didn't stop hair loss it did help grow it back a little quicker. I am so ready for this, I am glad to have found this site. Nice to meet others going thru this as well, don't feel so alone.
  21. I don't know of any support groups near me. I live way out in the middle of no where. I have already started a journal that I document my feelings and what I eat in. I can't wait to look back at this time in my life and be proud of my accomplishments on my journey. I need to do pics but I have run screaming away from cameras for so long, the thought of seeing exactly how everyone else sees me scares the crap out of me. Any one else out there scared of taking pics? I may be the only one that has successfully avoided all pics including family pics for five years!!

    Feb. 1st Surgery Date!

I share several of your concerns. I am worried that I won't lose the weight after surgery. I am also petrified of the hair loss thing.. My hair is already thin and I can't afford to lose much. I may be wearing ball caps for a while.. I am determined that this will work for me and I have already started to retrain myself on my eating habits. The 1st is drawing near and we are about to start our story. ????
